Are u gonna animate the water or is it gonna be static? It sure is a breakthru cos now we can see into the water and perhaps in time diving may be possible with what u are attempting! Way to go, gal!;-)

yes i can animate it

but the texture for the defautl ofp water will stay solid sorry

it cant be cahnged w/o moddign the engine

lol why u guys only seem to liek teh water?

wait till i finish te waterfalls biggrin_o.gif

The texture for the default water can be changed. Just make it optional. THere are installers out there that install skypaks. Installing a water like this is just the same thing

Stuff looks absolutely awesome btw!!!

after doing some research on my own, nephilim seems to be right, standard ofp water has to stay solid, even changing the water textures to paa and illegaly hacking some code it stays solid, seems to have something to do with the water shaders etc, or it was my fault, cause im not that good in changing binary codes ;-)

yep thats why i wonder how the halo mod did it lol

specially since its layerd...

the water u see currently i have pretty long now u can see it evenon early uscm photo shots

i wondered about tranparent water cuz u sometimes could see the ground when u dived in with plane..

but the water will stay black

ill do some researhc on this but no promise guys

black is a result of pac format can´t handle alpha channels, but even if you change it to paa and change file ending to paa in the exe, it won´t turn transparent. damn

Wonderful work. This looks really amazing. Nice work on the forest too....and the ship. wow_o.gif The water steals everyone's attencion though. Nice work.

no not exatly

u can make the more_anim.01.pac etc tranparent no prob

but

ingame they are like placed on a black surface

u can see the texture shaded (if u put hte contrast realy alpha channel contrast real high)

bu u cant see through cuz it on a black surface..

its either the specualar lightning shader

or sth about the engine...

but thers another problem

u cant execute script that are inherited by obejct tat are palce by wrptool

i can animate teh water but itll only make waves when palced in mission editor

but when i place them by wrptool the scripts arent executed

i havent tried everything though

if anyone has an idea plz let me know

i maybe endup writign a loooong script like

(object 08389) exec "\fr634a\scripts\sway.sqs"

for all animated objects......

okay, did some testing. when making more_anim01 to 07  abslutely transparent you can see the shader plane used in ofp, which is textured with specular_dx.pac. problem is that plane is alyways solid if texture has alpha channel or not. if you remove complete specular_dx.pac string from the exe file ofp overrides it and puts on white.pac. so transparent std. ofp water isnt possible without editing the shader code itself, ehm at least i think so  crazy_o.gif

Just a quick question; Does the water get deeper respectivly or is it the same depth everywhere? It seems that the soldiers are pretty far from the shore and they are only waist deep.

I was just thinking the same thing. Although I was visualising small waves around the character generated in a similar way to the old grass script. Could maybe make it face and move in the wind direction (ie. the direction the flags point.)

Well, the waves wouldn't have to be 3Dimensional objects, would they? Just generating white or light rings around characters or lines going with the wind... I don't know how to explain, but it's possible to create lot's of illusions with 2D textures, making it seem 3D etc.

me and kyle are workign on a rain script tat creaets rain drips on ground or vehicle glas

aswell there wil be a wake when passing though water

I ain't asking 4 pics of the alien but does it have a snapping tounge animation and other anims that make it inhuman so it don't stand like a human shoulders high, legs straight u no wink_o.gif

Augh,I swear its as if theres no teamwork information on the other project that she mentioned,its just doin what your supposed to do but not getting told much anything...anyway water and models are good,stop pushing for the pics,we don't want to have to experiment with around 20 or someodd number of units that we have never seen,well those who have never seen the ALIEN movies.

Those small ones grow pretty quicly AFAIK. Look at the Alien movie and you see that it grows to a full alien in a matter of hours. So it would be quite unrealistic to have these small ones ingame
