NZXSHADOWS 0 Posted December 14, 2003 Well isnt that just sweet. hey,i still have the Bn if you want it.or we can let it go to waste.its up to you.
DKM Jaguar 0 Posted December 14, 2003 Nope, 2004 is going to be the year for british units.   Good luck with this project, Alcazar, I hope it goes well for you and you produce some good stuff. BTW: what was Tankieboy  doing a   at? I really hope it wasnt what I think it could've been And what did you think I ment? It just looked like you were questioning why they are doing the same kind of british units as done before.. While that may not have been your intention, it would appear that way. People saying they don't understand why I agreed '04 will be the year of british units, it was becuase of the two already-mentioned mods, and also some stuff we have going.. @cero 0 Posted December 14, 2003 I just started reading Mark Adkin's "Goose Green", I really can't wayt to get some Brits downloaded.
-Ash- 0 Posted December 14, 2003 @Cero: You really should try and get hold of 'A Soldier's Story' by Keb Lukowiak... Absolutely fantastic.. NZX: No, we've nearly finished the BN as we started again from scratch..
-Ash- 0 Posted December 14, 2003 Oh incidentally in case anyone is wondering what a BN is! 'Bravo November' the last remaining Chinook that was used famously in the Falklands War
@cero 0 Posted December 14, 2003 Nick Richardson@ "No escape zone", Pete Scholey's "The Joker", Gaz Hunter's "The shooting gallery", Andy McNab's "Immediate action"... more please, I'm reading "Goose green" right now more for the history perpous than anything ellse, but I'm more into action books, and I have to be onest, "The shooting gallery" really impressed me, it left my face in one single expression for days, eyes and mouth wyde open. I'll have a crak on "A Soldier's Story" when I finish "Goose green".. We should open a topic about books somewhere. Back on topic: I would like to see the old school addons re-released to modern standarts. I know that we have really good addons to come to us very soon, but to wayt for something that we don't know much about it is a bit of a pain in the rear. If someone release a pack it would be used alot in multiplayer. At list untill the new addons get released. We even have a Challenger addon that is not bad. If the author update it it could go nice with a pack like that. Delitmon's LR are good enought for me, nothing wrong with them, I don't know why he scraped them and started them from scrap so I would use them aswell. The Malvinas mod made some british choppers. If the would let us get our hands in their configurations and maybe the textures we could include them in a pack aswell. kabal made a magnificent Sa-80 pack and a l1a1 pack too. The Falklands mod released a smashing Harrier, and we have a really nice RAF Tornado by Colorchanger. I think if we get all this addons up to date(apart of the ones that don't need to) and put them in a pack, we would be rader happy untill something new comes out. Thanks. @CERO. DeLiltMon 0 Posted December 15, 2003 Delitmon's LR are good enought for me, nothing wrong with them, I don't know why he scraped them and started them from scrap so I would use them aswell. Many reasons, but mainly because I learned an awful lot about 3d modelling making them, the original Land Rover was my first ever attempt at 3d modelling and I thought I could do better. And I built the new one bearing in mind the fact that I had to make different versions from it so I made it as easy as possible to do things like remove the roof etc. I suppose this was the main factor as the amount of remodelling I had to do to make a simple change to it really annoyed me. So in a fit of madness I decided to start again, and I haven't regretted it in the slightest, I think you'll appreciate the difference when they're released. Although I'm glad to hear that the original ones are still in use.
@cero 0 Posted December 15, 2003 Quote[/b] ]Although I'm glad to hear that the original ones are still in use. Oh well, Like I said, no problems with them from me, I think they are fantastic, and btw, they are the only ones available. I'm really looking forward to try the new ones, I'll get them well dirty. Anyway, what you guys think about the addons I mentioned? should we ask every author to get them collected and updated in one single pack?
miles teg 1 Posted December 15, 2003 Speaking of books and stuff, to the Falklands War mod team, you guys should contact Jim Love. He's got a fabulous web page with beautifully written stories and poems about the Falklands War (he is a Falklands War veteran). I've corresponded with him in the past and he's a hell of a nice guy. He'd make a good technical advisor for the team in order to get some seriously authentic details in the mod. Some of his stories might make for good missions as well and his poetry might be nice thrown in here and there in a campaign. His web page is at: http://www.britains-smallwars.com/Jim-Love/intro.htm Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

@cero 0 Posted December 15, 2003 Yes I know, well I don't really, but is not about the Falklands war, is just about British forces, from early 80's to moder days. That is what this topic is about, is it?

Cut a long story short.. It wasn't well received... However.. I know for a fact that Sir Jeremy Moore (Then Major General Jeremy Moore - Overall British Commander of Land Forces Falklands 82) has expressed interest
miles teg 1 Posted December 16, 2003 Ah, nah no worries.  If Jim Love didn't like the idea, he'd just polititely tell ya to bugger off.   I guess it depends on how you approach him.  If he thinks you are glorifying war for kiddies, then yeah he may tell ya to stuff it, but if he thinks you're trying to just make a good war simulation to give people an idea of what it's like at least to some degree, then he might be interested.  But  overall he's just a very interesting person to chat with about the Falklands War especially if you are also current or ex-military.  Hey that's fantastic to hear that Sir Jeremy Moore is interested.  Send him some good screenshots.   Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
UKSubmariner 0 Posted December 23, 2003 Just thought I'd also mention that the conflicto de Malvinas (?) mod have released a pack of brit Helo's.. Don't no what it's like mind, I'm downloadin' it now..
CanadianTerror 0 Posted December 23, 2003 conflicto de Malvinas tends to put Brit stuff on the east side though...I don't know if they've changed that or not.
Lt_Phoenix 0 Posted December 23, 2003 They haven't changed the sides, but they've left the configs open for edititng.

since we dont have units that compete (different era's) and Falklands are making units that are still in service today (Harrier, Invincible, etc etc) that will work nicely with the modern troops... co-operations mean both mods work faster and faster - and those release dates are nearing us at a pace - expect a website, teaser pics and some releases soon

Jinef 2 Posted January 17, 2004 One thing to consider - Model Face Errors - http://wolfdog.online.fr/ofp/gallery/erreur1.jpg http://wolfdog.online.fr/ofp/gallery/dkmm_faces1.jpg http://wolfdog.online.fr/ofp/gallery/badfaces1.jpg http://wolfdog.online.fr/ofp/gallery/tung_badface1.jpg These show some probs with light sources being inverted on the model face, so when a unit is in light the face looks in shadow and when in shadow it's glowing with the morning sunshine.... This is not a tactical advantage. Are you guys (everyone) aware of this problem?
