alcazar 0 Posted December 13, 2003 Whilst waiting for the 'real deal' from various mod teams working on new British forces material, I've been looking at some of the good old mods already available. I'm not claiming to have done anything original, but I am spending a fair amount of time tidying up and updating stuff, and maybe it would be of interest to others. I'm looking at Bibmi's British Desert Infantry, Royal Marines and Parachute Regiment, and MadDogX's British Light Infantry (I'd like to look at Bibmi's Ghurkas as soon as OFPEC is back online). I've sorted the resistance problems with "red cross" in the marines and paras, and the support (spare ammo) problem in the paras which I'm extending to other squads. I'm updating the soldiers and groups to give a wider range of weapons (which also gets around the resistance "muzzle flash" problem on earlier weapons used in the marines and paras) including Mollusc's LAW80, Kabal's SA80 and L1A1 Packs (I've added a RGGS rifle grenade to the L85), Operation Frenchpoint's Minimi and the Malvinas Mod's L2 Sterling/L34 Patchett, L4A4 Bren, L7A2 GPMG, L42 Enfield and L9 Browning (I'd like to anglicize the messages etc). To cut down on MakePBO time during testing, and to avoid altering the original mods, I've made a separate pbo file with the updated cpp and the tweaked soldier models. Its helped pass the time whilst I've been stuck at home recovering from an operation, so if I just use it myself I've no worries. Is it worth trying to get the ok from Bibmi et al to release the update? Maybe I need to break it down into smaller updates??
Consigliere 0 Posted December 13, 2003 What does that mean? Yeah I'd say it's worth it! We really need some decent British units
coporal_punishment 0 Posted December 13, 2003 Well Alcazar UKF are already making UK stuff they from what I understand will be releasing a British Infantry pack and from the screenies posted it looks great. for more info go here http://www.project-ukf.com/forum/index.php
Consigliere 0 Posted December 13, 2003 With all due respect, I've heard little from Project UKF, and seen even less
alcazar 0 Posted December 13, 2003 Quote ] Like I said, its not rocket science, but is a shame Bibmi's Marines and Paras can no longer be used 'off the shelf' whilst we're all waiting for Project UKF and Falklands War to turn up. The concept of the support soldier is one I like and I've got working for in SP for the player controlled squad, and I'd like to get a couple of scripts to tidy up a couple of loose ends, but arguably that stands alone. As for the updated weapons and groups etc, thats just a convenience and a time saver, so its nothing special. Quote ]With all due respect, I've heard little from Project UKF, and seen even less  There's plenty of cool screenies hitting the news sites, and the new mods look like being of the same class as FDF, but we can't use the screenies in OFP and there's no word of a  release anytime soon. Okay, I'll carry on progressing the "support" soldier thing, as something might come of it. If anyone wants to update their copies of Bibmi's marines and paras to get rid of the annoying "red cross" in resistance, all you need to do is: 1. uUnPBO bib_ukrm and bib_ukPK 2. Use Oxygen Light to tweak the models (p3d's: bib_ukrm, bib_ukrmrad for the marines, and bib_ukpj, bib_ukpr, bib_ukprrad for the paras):  - Zoom in (+) a few times so you can see the model  - Go through the LODs (0.150, 0.350, 1.000, 5.000, 9.000 and "View Pilot") in the top right window and for each:  - select "medic" in the window below it to highlight in red the medic armband and pack and hit the delete button. 3. Save the models and MakePBO the directorys to get the fix into OFP. Quick and dirty but hey, it works! Adding a "mortar" to Kabal's SA80 is a one line change to the cpp, which you can do yourself. It's probably worth the effort as the RGGS will only be phased out with the introduction of the UGL - see The British Army - Small Arms and Equipment - SA80. DeLiltMon 0 Posted December 13, 2003 With all due respect, I've heard little from Project UKF, and seen even less  Maybe because we've been busy working on the units and vehicles, these things do take time you know and unfortunately we do have jobs to do as well  I don't want to steal the thread but I've dug up the latest pics I could find, a fair bit has been done to both units and vehicles since these were taken: Unit comparison, old model as released in the teaser pack on the left and the new model on the right. [ig]http://www.project-ukf.com/Jonno/images/inf_1.jpg[/img] [im]http://www.project-ukf.com/DeLiltMon/images/beta1_gs110.jpg[/img] [ig]http://www.project-ukf.com/DeLiltMon/images/beta2_gs110.jpg[/img] As I'm working on the Land Rovers, of which there will be more than just the 110GS shown here, I could bore you to tears with the list of what's been changed since these were taken, but I won't, trust me it's a long list  All pics well over 100kb, c'mon you know the rules, next time it'll be a warning box. Jonno 0 Posted December 13, 2003 Hey, Even if we are working on Infantry, Royal Marines etc, which I feel I must apologise for the lack of updates etc, but we have all been getting very bogged down with work, plus my inability to do much untill my new PC arrives, Iv been unable to work in O2/buldozer for coming upto 2 months now. I wont bore you with the technical issues anyway, just say that the PC likes to freeze when running games or hungry apps, b4 you make suggestions to what the probs could be, I'v/We've tried everything under the sun to fix it, memory, mobo, ram, etc etc drivers BIOS, cooling........ Personally I dont see what the problem is with them being updated, so what if we are doing familiar stuff, of course it would be best to get Bibmis permission. But it would be nice to think that all of us that are interested in British units in OFP could work as one unit, so that we reach are combined goals quicker. Rather than eventually end up with lots of bits and pieces from every Tom, Dick and Harry. We did announce we expected a Xmas release, but I see it being more Jan/Feb now. GoOB 0 Posted December 13, 2003 It's a lovely idea alcazar (Ugh it feels wierd using that name ) just to hold us until UKF lets their things loose. If permission is given from all involved I would love to see this thing on my harddrive

If that IS what you said...Mr. Comma and Capital Letter are your friends, ruff, don´t neglect them. I, for one, am looking forward to U.K forces very much, especially Paras and Marines!
