Wonder 0 Posted March 2, 2004 Yeah, the IRST stands for Infra-Red Search/Track. It is somewhat of an "infra-red radar", which detects heat signatures instead of radar echoes. The good thing about this is that the system is totally passive and doesn't send radar energy, so you won't be detected by the target's radar warning receiver. The mig pilot can turn off it's radar and rely on the IRST for stealthier engagements. The bad thing is that the detection range is significantly shorter than that of a radar and it's performance is decreased in bad weather. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Bobcatt666 0 Posted March 3, 2004 Yes, it is something missing on all the MIG-29 addons I have for OFP. This one was very fine detail seemed odd that it was missing, but Sea Demon is busy addon maker. Using older addons right now for place holders, of Mig-29 and Su-27, due to no lag on the low end systems. SeaDemon has fixed lag issues now which should make things great for updating a few missions I was messing with. With the latest updates jets are being a bit better to fly in air combat missions now. I usually have them supporting ground units and CAS and SEAD operations. Now renewed fun actually flying them in OFP because your wing doesn't fly into eachother durring air to air combat missions. They still do in helos but fixed winged is more forgiving, now if there was scripts for making the AI less hasty to stop a bullet or missile and use cover more effectivly would be a plus. But the addition of counter measures on the newer aircraft does make things a bit more realistc. Maybe impliment a full string of evasive manuevers when ECM is instated to try rolling out of gun or missile lock as well. Seeing that enemy units know when they are locked onto, to attack back. Kinda random generation that makes it diffcult to guess the next move of the AI. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Maybe you could find some people and start improving your great work. I think the community would really like a new more detailed version. Maybe you have the time to do something like it..
