I think maybe the real life positioning should have the defining vote, presumably a combat model who's actually wearing the helmet will be included.

I think combatants hang their helmets basically where ever they want to. But this looks good IMO. And looks very good for parachuting! And I would try to avoid situations where you have to go prone if I didn't have my helmet on. Unless it was really really hot. Safety first!

And I think the helmet will be like on the international infantry, so that you can have them on /off.  smile_o.gif

Mmm, I hope not exactly like KMARNS international infantry, because when you load a game those units have their helmets off even if they were on when you saved, rock.gif

And by that I mean that ALL the KMARNS troops in that mission have their helmets off when you load. More suited for MP, where you don´t load. wink_o.gif I hoped that 1.94 would fix the problem (fixed saving of eventhandlers), but no luck. sad_o.gif

Will it be different if it used initlines and WP's? I guess not huh?

They look fantastic, but please stop with the bloody incessant demands for this to be "JAMmed" as it were. Its a good system, but let them decide.

As to the camouflaged faces:

The origional seemed a little overdone. The second wouldn't be that useful in real life, but in-game, its fine. If you want, I can E-mail you some of my own camouflaged faces, which work excellently, and are quite realistic. (Sgt. Downey got pissed after I asked him if I could "Borrow" his cam-kit to replicate the colours.) [No offence intended, please don't take that the wrong way.]

Overall, amazing addon. Can't wait. This'll compliment the up and coming Earl & Suchey Naval Infantry nicely.  smile_o.gif

Hopefully you'll stick to your release date, or not overshoot by too much. That's the problem with Release dates, especially if something unexpected comes up.

Overall, pretty kick-ass. The helmet's new position is a little odd, with it hanging off the utility - vest's strap like that. Perhaps you'll change the helmet-hanging position on some units, so they look a little more like individuals, sorta. Say the Machinegunner has it hung over his canteen, the sniper has it hung off one side of his ruck, etc.

One thing i don't quite understand is with the Beret and the headscarf. Are they interchangable, or do you have differnt units that still have their helmet, ie, when you're prowling through the mission editor:

Rifleman - Beret

Rifleman - Headscarf/Dewrag/whateveryoucalledit.

?

EDIT:

I forgot to answer this question:

Quote[/b] ]Can the russian army afford such uniformaty in their equipment like what your soilders show?

Yes, in this case, since they're considered to be an elite Regiment, VDV and such. The Naval Infantry, and Spetsnaz get the same kinda thing, also:

Quote[/b] ]The RF 76. air assault division that is stationed in Pskov has been getting a lot of funding as far as I know, because it is currently an experimental unit. In 2003-2004 the division will be made up completely of volunteers. The subject of this test is of course related to the military reform of the Russian armed forces.

I read a newspaper article a while ago (couldn't locate it, damn) that the experiment has been a failure so far - the relatively high wages persuaded a lot of soldiers who are incapable of such operations to join (ie. alcoholics, drug abusers ...)

That's true. The thing is to have drug screening and that. We must remember that while there are some incredibly well-prepared Russian units, the majority of them are in the shitter. This one, apparently RF-76 out of Pskov is well-funded. In any case, ass-kickin' good job!

Of course they'll decide but it's important for them to see what the player community wants and why.

I want them JAM compliant, too! smile_o.gif

Or is it JAM 2 compliant? crazy_o.gif

So what?

You cant lie down on your belly, if you have your helmet on your belly... It would look stupid. So why not put it back at the original place, at the side?

How can people be so rude! Just look at how they´re DEMANDING JAM! They should really behave themselves! mad_o.gif

Quote[/b] ]hope they use JAM2  biggrin_o.gif ....
Quote[/b] ]I'd also highly, highly suggest that you at least make the units JAM2 compatible, if not outright requiring the addon.
Quote[/b] ]Looks great, I hope they´re JAM. smile_o.gif
Quote[/b] ]PS. I hope they are JAMed.
Quote[/b] ]Oh yes, please make them JAM2 compatible, with HD versions and regular versions. It would be a pity if these units didn't use JAM smile_o.gif

I agree, personally i like the FDF config and sounds better, i personally like best if they used standard BIS magazines

But, it cant hurt anybody if they made them JAM compatible

theres always someone who gets offended....we're all saying make em JAM because it the FIRST uniform addon that has been released and most of us are getting sick of having to download a bunch of addons to use with one unit...not all of us have gigs on free space on our computers....

But, if they make their weapons just accept JAM magazines, but on default have them equipped with BIS magazines... Then you dont NEED JAM, its up to the mission maker, if he wants to use JAM magazines or not.

So...

Now let's answer some questions.

Not, they will not be JAM or other unified ammo compatible.

All West-maded Magazines for Ak74 And AKM is too weak and AI firing characteristics is unsatisfactional for us too.

Main part of addon's size contains of model&textures, not from config. So we thought that original (but compatible with all our addons) magazines will be right. INHO Enough discussion about JAM - If you don't like the way it goes, don't download addon. Thanks...

I hope you could reconsider adding JAM compatability. It only requires a couple of lines in the config. You don't have to do much more than that.

Its not hard to implement to implement JAM, but he also said that the soldiers don't perform satisfactorily with JAM ammunition. And, it is his choice in the end. If you don't like it, don't download it. Simple. I follow that rule all the time.

Now, while JAM is the only unified ammunition addon, I'm pretty sure that an outfit as professional - looking as ORCS here isn't going to borrow someone else's weapon configs and still make you download their addon. They'll likely have 2 or more PBO's. One that contains the soldiers themselves, and another that contains their weapons. Something like that.

They're amazing. Denorc, I salute you! Great work!

EDIT:

As Denorc mentioned:

1) Ammunition is too weak, not enough stopping power

2) AI don't handle it well

3) And he made the point: This is his. If you don't like it, its not as if anyone is holding a gun to your head to make you enjoy it.

Very very nice work fellas. Will the night optics sniper have a NV scope? Only make em JAM if you really believe in it, or are a fanboy (or girl *cough*Avon) of BAS, otherwise don't be pressured by those who are. It's not a criteria to an excellent addon.

JAM would be nice, but there is no requirement for addon makers to give in to pressure. If they feel their addon would be better not being JAM compliant, so be it. Anyway, after release someone might (with permission) release a JAM patch for them, like with Laser's Gru and Naval addon...

Same with the helmets. Side, front - I don't really care.

This addon looks incredible - lets not annoy the creators to the point where they stop the whole project. wink_o.gif

Main problem is the values are wrong in my eyes, especially that there is almost no elevation on firing bursts...

With this values ever scoped weapon becomes almost as good as a sniper rifle...

I mean if you can kill a soldier 500meters away with a AK-74 in Automatic mode with one short burst then something is wrong.

Thats why i said so often the system is a great idea but the values are still not as good as they should be plus i dont want to be forced to use the inventory pics and sounds that come with it.

I think thats why we wont use it atm and ORCS decided the same...

Would you please consider releasing a separate config so that people can use them with JAM if they want to, these fellows look sweet and I for one would certainly want them to have those sweet JAM sounds and the overall sweetness of JAM to them smile_o.gif

Its as if he didn't even read the common sense and carefully worded support on the third page....

I quote Shadow here:

The values are off, especially for the 5.45x39mm ammo. I've fired an AKS-47, and that had some kick. I've also fired a AKSU-74, and that had more kick than a AK-74 I figure, but there is no way that you can go full-auto with a full-size -74 and plant every round on the target's head.

As Powerslide mentioned, its not a prerequiste to a great addon, and I find that JAM somewhat limits your options. As BAS said, "With all due respect to BIS's coding, sometimes its nice to use custom sounds and configs." Well, isn't JAM just another form of limiting yourselves? By no means is it the 100% best coding out there, for the reasons mentioned above.. And, as ORCS mentioned, their soldiers don't function particularly well with JAM, and since its up to them, let them make that choice.

Quote[/b] ]This addon looks incredible - lets not annoy the creators to the point where they stop the whole project.

And, as Major FUBAR said, lets NOT annoy them (Namely for the incessant demands for JAM...) to the point where they decide to stop the project. I'd hate to see that happen, they look fantastic. Good job ORCS! Looking great.

PLEASE stop with the JAM, its ORCS's addon, like FUBAR says if they want to make it JAM they will they dont need half the forum to tell them to do it, they are big boys (and girls?) now therefore are used to deciding for themselves (i know the entire community are completly Pro-JAM but sometimes, just sometimes it gets taken too far) i mean JAM is ok but does it really have to be in EVERY single addon, because rest assured if i bring out any weapons (which i am planing to do) the definately will not be JAM, not that i dont like it, to proove the fact that it is not a nessesity (not that any of you will download it anyway but it would be worth releasing..)

This is rather silly, if you want JAM in the addons just unpbo it and add the magazine type you want. It's not nearly as difficult as some may think. Keep up the nice work guys, and definitely have a chat with the bacon bomb guys, they might let you in with some of their special effect scripts, ;)
