What keep's you playing ofp

Recommended Posts

Apart from being the best military game I've played

( correction: the best game I've ever played ), the realism and freedom of action it offers, what keeps me playing are the amazing new addons, Mods and improvements that this community has created, and the hope that someday I'll create a half decent mission for public comsumption  tounge_o.gif

I reckon I got all the time in the world as I'll be here in 2 or 3 years waiting for OFP2   smile_o.gif

I love this game becos it's the only truly realistic war game out there, and that there is not a specific path you have to follow to complete the missin/campaign like in other crap unrealistic games like Medal of honour and Vietcong.

Also the fact that the game is so open and you can do almost everything in this game from making addons, islands to missions and many other things keeps me still interested in Ofp. I dont know of any other game on the marked you can do so much with.

The best ai I have ever seen, got to love how they hunt you down.

The freedom of the game play.

The ease of the mission editor.

And the great user made addons. < -- ty to all the makers. biggrin_o.gif

One word: Addons

Nomatter the quality of a game, I find it hard to play after three years without something new. Red Alert 2, for example; I would have thrown it away after a year, but the great mods and user-made missions kept me playing it for years. Same can be said about Flashpoint.

I'm playing less and less OFP for 2 main reasons:

1. I have no time for MP. That will change when OFP2 introduces JIP. That won't be till 2005, right? sad_o.gif

2. Addons without missions are of minimal interest to me.

yea I still play. I highly recommend joining a Squad if your getting bored of OFP, you meet a bunch of people, some of the greatest players to date (like me ) *COUGH COUGH*

Things that keep me ticking in ofp = everything.

It just never seems to get old.

Funny the way I got OFP.

I always like making my own stuff, from Half Life using worldcraft. I got a few bucks, set out to the store to look for a game. Any game at all.

I opened the Cold War Crisis fold-out thingy and saw it said

(BUILT IN MISSION EDITOR!)

I said "Neat! Maybey I'll try this one!"

and now ive been sitting here for 2 years still a complete fan of Operation Flashpoint.

It just sickens me OFP is known to very few

(generally in my area)

THATS why creating OFP for XBox is a good idea.

Cuz then more fans from the Xbox version will notice OFP2, and then we get more and more fans.

But I think OFP2 will have alot of new players. Alot.

Know the feeling. Thank God I'm at school now, and on a much nicer connection. This summer was torture.

2. Addons without missions are of minimal interest to me.

instead of having dynamic avatar(which mostly consists of bad hair styles tounge_o.gif) how about getting into mission editing? smile_o.gif

i play SP about 30 minutes a day, and a bit more if i have some idea for a specific strategic application implementation.

and occasional MP. smile_o.gif

I wish!

Someone else brought that up. I would love to but I don't have the time for it, just like I don't have the time for MP.

There are tons of talented and capable OFP players out there. The problem is they're all making addons and hardly making missions.

I'm working as fast as i can tounge_o.gif

I keep playing OFP because its the only game that if you can think it, you can make it. With the editor the only limits to mission making is in your own imagination wink_o.gif

Helos! I got into computer games via flight-sims, but to me buzzing around islands in a light chopper is the ultimate flight joy because the terrain is built at such a high level of detail. It's not quite ready for fast-jets yet IMO, and of course the avionics etc aren't there etc., but I don't care anymore to be honest. What other sim lets you fly under trees and sideslip your Littlebird into a hangar to give your Deltas a nice covered insertion? Never mind the incredible interactivity between air units & infantry (especially with all the new BAS/JAM stuff), simply flying the choppers and light planes is an absolute joy. (...Especially if you're flying Airwolf and can disappear like a ****ing UFO if you need to!!!)

Ahhh...must get that beautiful-looking Sea-Harrier beta - not to mention the Corsair. CAS - your time has come  ghostface.gif

Respect!

Because there's no other war game I know of which would give my crack team of commandos the option of stealing a Skoda and driving right past the guards to the secret base they're supposed to blow up, if they don't feel like creeping through the woods smile_o.gif

Oh, and don't forget the final mission of the original campaign, that's a pretty unusual one for a shooting game.

(Almost finished the original campaign again after buying the GOTY edition..)

Well Like the title say's: What keep's you intrestted in OFP?

I am waiting for a naked ladies mod to be released. Then I'll probably get bored of flashpoint and go out and find something else to do instead like killing people.

You want to know what keeps me playing OFP?  Well actually I cant play OFP because I am plagued with random crashes to desktop.  I have spent the past 4 weeks installing, and reinstalling windows and OFP in an atempt to make it run for more than ten minutes.  And I have failed.  I have tweaked every setting in Windows, and my bios.  I have disabled features, enabled features, reinstalled drivers nothing.  So a better question would be to ask what keeps you FROM playing OFP.  I'm sure you will get a lot more responses....

I still play ofp (a lot) because of the freedom to move wherever and do whatever you want, this combined with organised teamplay with my squad makes for the best gaming experience in my life till now. (and Im getting quit old).

Playing with my squad is actually so much fun that we've met up in munich last weekend and all got drunk.(our squad has players from all over europe so it was a great experience)

Im sure Ill be playing ofpR till ofp2 comes out.
