ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 7, 2003 today has been media frenzy day here in CA. first, Kobe Bryant's appearance in Colorado court, and a 'breaking news' of Arnie running for governor. I saw his entire annoucement. some of the memorable lines: "I'll clean up the sacramento."(insert McBain voice and visual) "I answer to citizens of California." "Thank you, thank you, I'll be back."(after he stopped taking questions form reporters.) This kinda is hilarious in sense that Republicans tend to favor somewhat inferior cadidate over reasonably good one. It was rumored that if Arnie did not run for governor position, he would support former LA mayor Richard Riordan, and both are Republicans who tend to be moderate. Riordan managed to get Democratic national convention in 2001(?) despite him being a mayor. Furthermore, during last gubernatorial election, GOP came up with some rich kid named Bill Simon, who was voted as the GOP candidate instead of Riordan. back in last presidential election, if Sen. McCain was running, I would have hard time choosing which one. Now, in CA, Arnie is running instead of more experienced Riordan. and to make things more fun, Arnie's wife Maria Schriber(?) is a Kennedy.(from Eugene Schriver, who was Eugene Kennedy before marriage, IIRC)

USSoldier11B 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Maybe I'll move to Canada. Why? He's a conservative Republican. Not a lot of those in Hollywood. In fact I consider it the worst haven of liberal activist pukes in America besides the campuses at Berkley and University of Colorado, Boulder.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 7, 2003 Maybe I'll move to Canada. Why? He's a conservative Republican. oh yeah...conservative man who makes movies about destroying and ruthless killings..... forgot to add...he is also a Kennedy..maybe it is good that he is running for governor. if he gets in, we can expect all of scandals to entertain us better than all of his movies combined. USSoldier11B 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Yes, but a Republican governor in California would piss a lot of liberals off. One of the reasons I am alive.
Renagade 0 Posted August 7, 2003 What the hell`s the deal with liberals, republicans and democrats anyway?? Im always hearing liberal used in a slightly derogatory context so whats the meaning to them
FSPilot 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Liberals (typically democrats) don't even like being called liberals, they call themselves "progressives" or something like that. Crazy liberals.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 7, 2003 Yes, but a Republican governor in California would piss a lot of liberals off. One of the reasons I am alive. lol. you mean a Republican who is shunned by GOP? it's amazingly hilarious to see how some GOP fringed for his 'lukewarm' political position suddenly become the darling of the party as soon as he gathers attention. if he gets elected, it would show that current GOP is not in alignment with national politics. ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 7, 2003 Liberals (typically democrats) don't even like being called liberals, they call themselves "progressives" or something like that.Crazy liberals. really? i never saw some 'liberal' hating the word to designate their political stance. kinda understandable since "conservatives" used in context of US politics are usually nice name for "dogmatic"
denoir 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Maybe I'll move to Canada. Why? He's a conservative Republican. Actually, as I understand it he is a liberal Republican. His economic policies are conservative but his social views are liberal. He is pro-choice, pro-gay rights etc

shadow 6 Posted August 7, 2003 HEHE looking at the list of the other candidates I don't think Arnie has any competition except for maybe Gary Coleman (don't know who he is except in Postal2) Quote[/b] ]swapping guns for X-rated films to reduce violence. Jeeezuz, what planet did she fall from? LOL Only bad thing IMO with Arnie as governor is no more Arnie-movies You can say what you want, but I still think Arnie is the #1 of action-hereos
der bastler 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Why? He's a conservative Republican. Not a lot of those in Hollywood. In fact I consider it the worst haven of liberal activist pukes in America besides the campuses at Berkley and University of Colorado, Boulder. Is it true? Is "liberal" used as an insult over there in America? The gouvernator is back! Arnie's becoming a politician... ...hmm, politician... didn't he make a movie named "True Lies"? Or if he wants to amend the budget: "What? Impossible?" ... "I'll be back!" *duckandcover* Poor Arnie, now he will encounter endless waves of "aktschnfuimstar" jokes during the election campaign...
