Footmunch 0 Posted July 4, 2003 First things first - Deluxe Buccaneer and Sea Vixen are up at www.footmunch.org.uk Buccaneer (v1.1) Sea Vixen Unless there's anything horribly broken, these are the final versions. Next, there's the Sturmovik: Sturmovik Beta The AI is suicidial with the bombs, and I want to give the plane a little more oomph, but it does what it's supposed to (ie blow-up tanks from WWIIEC, I44, etc), and the WW2EC Wirblewind (excellent addon btw) shoots at it. Texturing and sounds need improvements also. Also, do the WW2 mod teams have a set structure for which side is which? (eg West = US, East = German, Res = Russians ?) Now, we have some alphas (ie don't complain about the textures): From left to right we have: Martin B-57 Canberra:  - USAF Night Scheme  - Pilot and Gunner (with bombing view)  - Standard Rockets and Gun Pods  - Animated bomb bay and gear  - Bomb availability dependent on bombbay status  - AI opens bomb bay automatically in combat Republic F-105 Thunderchief (aka Thud)  - Vietnam scheme  - 8 Mk82 bombs and cannon  - No cockpit model yet  - Gear animations need fixing (wheels protrude through wings)  - Canopy animation (will probably be removed, or at least sripted to close at speed) English Electric Canberra  - RAF Scheme  - Pilot only (no gunner)  - Armaments as B-57 above Canberra (B-57 and EE) Thunderchief Finally, ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Avro Vulcan: Vulcan Yes the plane is that big in real life, and yes, it is fairly manoueverable in reality. For some reason, the Shilka doesn't fire at this plane, but the Lavos SA-13 does - this will be fixed. - Only a pilot position for now. - 12 1000lb bombs (will be increased to 21) - Open the bomb bay to drop the bombs - AI will open bomb bay when entering "COMBAT" behaviour I'll try and bring these 3 (Canberra, Thud, Vulcan) up to beta over the next few weeks. Planned additions: - Chaff/Flare on all three (with scripted missile spoofing) - Finned napalm for Thud ('Smells like... victory') - BullPup for Thud (taken from Sea Vixen) - AGM-45 Shrike on Vulcan (for Falklands Black Buck missions) - Possible Blue Steel standoff Nuke for Vulcan (not sure about this one) - Possible Carpet-Bombing/Ripple scripting for Vulcan - Possible cluster bomb units for all three (scripting ahoy) - Argentine skin for Canberra (for Falklands) - RAAF skin for Canberra (for Vietnam) - (Insert your air force here) skin for Canberra - Gunner(Bombardier) position for Vulcan - Sounds and Textures Have a nice weekend. Edit - Fixed Vulcan link - my fault.

Sxep 0 Posted July 4, 2003 Hmm sorry i only like the vixen, but please take a BLueprint of the VUlcan and model the Cockpit shape correctly.
miles teg 1 Posted July 4, 2003 Wow! Â This was a very nice surprise. Â I think the Canberras are very nice other then the lack of cockpit textures (especially in the USAF version). Â The Vulcan however was a bit of a disappointment. Â Like Sxep said, the front part of the aircraft and the cockpit needs tons of work. Â It should have a crew of 5- Pilot, Co-Pilot, Nav Plotter, Nav radar, and Air Electronics Officer (AEO). Â Of coarse in OFP you can only have pilot and gunner. Â The gunner can be the Co-pilot while the other positions could be made as "cargo" positions just as in Hawk's C-130 aircraft addon. Â In Hawk's case that is more difficult because it's a cargo aircraft and paratroopers end up in the cockpit. Â But with this aircraft, since it's a bomber, you don't have to worry about that problem. Also you can find cockpit pics all over the internet. Â Here's a good one at : http://www.randomnotes.co.uk/other/img/Vulcan_03.jpg Also info on where the other crew are located in the aircraft is mentioned here: http://www.randomnotes.co.uk/other/aviation.htm "The pilot and copilot sat side by side in a conventional cockpit, with the tactical navigator, radar operator and air electronics officer in a small room behind and below them, which must have been immensely cramped and claustrophobic in flight. The pilot and copilot had ejection seats, but the other three could only bail-out by opening a hatch in the side of the fuselage." Also great pics here: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1....148.htm and here: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1....48b.htm and also here: http://www.spxtraining.com/niactest/ There's tons more info and pics on the web as there seems to be alot of Vulcan enthusiasts in the UK. Â It's definitely a beautiful aircraft and I hope that you really make your best addon yet! Â Oh... and also one more thing. Â If you can, I hope you can improve the geometry settings on this addon so that it can turn a little bit better. Â In real life it was famous for having having very good maneuverability for such a large aircraft. Â Also a little bit more maneuverability might help the AI to be able to land and take off the plane easier. Â Keep up the awesome work. Â I love those Canberras and of coarse the finished versions of the Bucaneer and that sexy Sea Vixen! Â Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

DracoPaladore 0 Posted July 5, 2003 A few bugs I want to list: Buccaner's - Missing textures on the inner canopy bar thingy that run along the canop. Also behind the flaps and rudder as well as those two stubs at the tail just behind the rudder. Sea Vixens - Untextured ineer canpoy just like Buccy. Both also seem to have untextured gear for me.
DracoPaladore 0 Posted July 5, 2003 Also, I've noticed that all the other planes seem to have their gear down when you tell the game that when you start the plane already in the air.
Footmunch 0 Posted July 7, 2003 Draco - Yes, if the plane starts as 'Flying' the gear starts down, but then folds up automatically, right? If this is not happening for you, then I'm not sure where the bug is. It happens this way because of the way the game engine treats custom gear animations. The 'white' bits are not un-textured, they are textured with a white texture - which I guess is essentially the same thing. I'll try a quick 'riveted' canopy texture and see how it turns out. Sxep and Miles Teg - Yeah, the Vulcan cockpit is poor. There is a very good, interactive cockpit viewer at: Vulcan cockpit tour Here, you can see the tandem arrangement for the pilot/ co-pilot and the back-room for the 'technical' crew. I want to add as many 'working' (ie non-cargo) positions to the Vulcan as possible - I've been looking into making a commander/driver/gunner combination possible through the config - work continues. As for the flying characteristics - although the Vulcan was known for it's high performance, this is usually quoted at 35,000 feet and up . I will increase it a little and do some more testing, but this plane is a big bomber, and the AI doesn't really 'understand' the concept. Vulcan lovers in the UK you say? Vulcan to the Sky Yeah, there's a few here and there - sadly none on the Lottery Heritage Fund, but that's a story for a different forum.
DracoPaladore 0 Posted July 7, 2003 Oh, ok. That clears it up. Thanks.
Footmunch 0 Posted July 15, 2003 First things first - the Strumovik is final (unless anyone finds a huge bug...) Final Sturmovik Changes: a) Now on Resistance side b) Radar Display removed c) Plane is 'heavier' d) AI better with weapons e) Texturing improvements f) AI now engages air targets (but is a dreadful dogfighter) Next, I've decided to put the F-105 addon on hold for now. I didn't realise there was a Thud addon already out there, so mine goes onto the back burner for now. As compensation, I can offer you a beta of another 60's CAS legend, the A-1 Skyraider (aka Sandy, Spad, Able Dog, Crazy Water Buffalo): Beta Link This is the AD6 single seat version. At present, the plane has a 30mm cannon pod, 18 rockets and 4 Mk-20 Rockeye CBU's. The Mk-20 only just overlapped with the Sandy, so it's not quite historically correct. The Mk-20's can be considered placeholders for future Napalm and CBU units. The AI has been 'trained' with these bombs: Here we see the result of one bomb drop (as observed by a concealed sniper) - the central T-72 has both tracks damaged, while the left hand BMP has been completely disabled. Note that these CBU's are not as advanced script-wise as those found in the _excellent_ F/A-18 mod by Hudson and Pennywise, but they do make things go bang. Note that I've also added some basic Forward Air Control options with the ability to drop smoke shells and flares. If anyone has preferences for colours, let me know. Planned additions: 1) Cockpit intruments and texturing. 2) Improved main gear animation 3) Retracting tail wheel / Landing hook 4) Folding wings 5) Marine and Navy paint jobs 6) Better gun handling (ie 4 cannons in wings) 7) 'Rocket-ise' the smoke shell 8) Texture touch-ups 9) Improved canopy animation I will not be able to do the multi-seat or Royal Navy versions. If anyone wants to do those, PM me, or just take the above beta to bits with UnPBO. And to finish, we have some shots of the new Vulcan cockpit: -looking from the back wall forward -outside, looking in -just behind pilots, looking rear-ward. Sorry about the soldier proxies, but Buldozer was misbehaving last night - naughty viewer, back in your box.

bonko the sane 2 Posted July 15, 2003 Excellent job on the sturmovik!!! Im glad its now Resistance sided and it flies and looks very good, txs About the SkyRaider... Keep up the good work!
malick 0 Posted July 15, 2003 Can't wait to test your work footmunch ! Seems great One remark, though: your skyraider has a pretty strange colour scheme... I think a better way to paint it would be metallic grey with a black zone in front of the cockpit (to avoid being blinded by the sun reverberating ont the nose of the aircraft).
