Rifleman 0 Posted June 30, 2003 just learned what this vehicle is last week, and decided to make one started on this wednesday night heres some pics of the real one an image i know the textures arnt too great but im not too good at making textures so i just got some out of the game and forced them to fit for now everything is working, and working good so far, the only thing i know that has to be done is to add brake lights to it here is a little info on the real one http://www.rodmillen.com/Httv.htm i should release a beta soon, i want to do some more testing before i release, shouldnt be long i want some new textures for version 1.0, and im working on some but im afraid they wont be anybetter  or even worse then whats on there so if anyone wants to volenteer to do some textures just send me a PM or something i also plan on making a pack of Flyer's when im done with this HTTV image Flyer 21 http://marvingroup.com/flyer/index.htm if anyone knows where i can find some more info or pictures or anything about the flyer could you please send it to me or if you want to help on it with textures, just ask me i think ofp needs more vehicles like these
Major Fubar 0 Posted June 30, 2003 Hey, those early screens look like a great start! Nice one... Maybe after this project you could take on the long awaited UAZ with machine gun
killagee 0 Posted June 30, 2003 Brilliant Idea. Fast and very mobile Heavy Machine guns are a great asset in OFP, and probably in real life too. Great as "wingers" held just to the rear of Armour Columns to guard against those pesky infantry that lay low then attack you from the rear. This model looks good dude. A bit of wear and tear and mud in the textures and it will be sweet! A Trigat or Javelin Missile would be great. Pity about the ofp limitaions...
tankieboy 0 Posted June 30, 2003 Wow, good work buddy keep it up. Looking forward to using this with the BAS 47!

MLF 0 Posted June 30, 2003 so how is this unit IRL better than a hummer or landy?
dm 9 Posted June 30, 2003 so how is this unit IRL better than a hummer or landy? It's lighter and smaller than a hummer, so can be dumped into the battlefield from the back of a helicopter. And I shoud expect that this is a bit cheaper than the landrover, which is a specialist vehicle (and only operated by the Rangers in the US Army)
nyles 11 Posted June 30, 2003 Looking good, but I'd still prefer the Wolf (G-Wagon) as fast attack vehicle.
Rifleman 0 Posted June 30, 2003 oops, sorry bout the picture size on that one screenshot i took taht was like 118k i guess i just forgot to turn quality down im working on some new textures, and i read marfys tutorial and they are looking better than i had thought they would but soon as i convert them to .pac or .paa they turn to crap anyone got any sugesstions on that? Quote[/b] ]but I'd still prefer the Wolf (G-Wagon) as fast attack vehicle. well, all i can say is this HTTV sure seems like a better vehicle, its got a 6.5liter turbo diesel in it, 17inches of suspension travel, made in america ect. ect to me the g-wagon looks wimpy
nyles 11 Posted June 30, 2003 Well regarding cars, I'd prefer a "made in germany" over a "made in america" anytime. ;) That HTTV sure looks like a good cross country vehicle, but as it will be used in terms of recon or fast attack, meaning that it's often on it's one, makes a G-Wagen a better vehicle, I'd say, as it is more flexible. You could carry more stuff, more men and even heavier mounted weapons. The Marines adapted a number of G-Wagons already, and afaik they performed very well, not only because they could be stowed in CH-53. I have only experience from the time in the German army, but it really is a great vehicle there and beside the weasel weapons carrier the only mobility the airborne forces really need - not mentioning all other branches where it is used. While I'd name the HTTV a light and the HMMWV a heavy vehicle, the G-Wagen fits exactly in the middle of the two as a medium car, but with enough potential to perform good on both the areas of use the HTTV and HMMWV are used in.
Rifleman 0 Posted June 30, 2003 ok, my textures are coming out pretty good, a whole lot better than i had thought they would i think i am also going to add some gas cans and ammo boxes strapped onto it like in that one photo do you all want a beta with the old textures and no extras, just like the screen shots i posted? or do you want to wait on the one with new textures and stuff? ill put some screenshots of it with the new textures when i get a little farther along on them but i think its still pretty good for bout 5 days worth of work
attilauk 0 Posted June 30, 2003 lookin good mate, i bet that thing is great fun to drive, 6.5 litre lump + plastic body = bloody good fun!

miles teg 1 Posted June 30, 2003 WOW! I think it's looking great. I LOVE vehicles like this in OFP. Yeah definitely put some cans and things on it to make it look more realistic when you release the beta. The main thing is that you make sure that little bugs like the gunner and passengers not being able to be shot and stuff like that are fixed. The lights and other details are things that you can always add later. So far it's looking awesome and I think it's going to kick ass with the BAS Delta soldiers driving them. MLF 0 Posted July 1, 2003 plz but equipment bags on it lots of em and lots of mud.
Rifleman 0 Posted July 1, 2003 the driver, gunner, and passenger can be shot, and all that stuff, can shoot tires out, i made sure and learned how to do all of that i would like to put mud on it, but all my attempts at mud look horrible
miles teg 1 Posted July 1, 2003 Very cool!! I'm glad that you took the time to learn all that stuff. Well as long as there aren't any missing textures on any of the LOD's then I'd say it's ready for a beta release to see what bugs we can dig up on it. I'm sure there's a bug hiding somewhere. Hehehe. You also might consider later making different variants with different weapons mounted on it such as the M240, and the MK-19. Anyhoo, it really looks and sounds like it's going to be a killer addon. I can't wait until you release the beta!!! Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
