Placebo 29 Posted October 1, 2004 It's the sound you hear when someone is banned for spamming
mr burns 132 Posted October 4, 2004 lmao :P -- ýou mean that mag which gave the price out for the "Human A-10 missile" pic ... (to the wrong person though) ? iirc it was originally sole´s pic
Placebo 29 Posted October 5, 2004 Yeah that's the one, where someone "accidentally" submitted a picture created by someone else
Balschoiw 0 Posted October 5, 2004 I´d like to know what happened about Wilco posting the pic of a dead kid in the Iraq thread as a) the pic is still there b) there have no visible actions been taken I still can remember the argumentation that left no room for interpretation of showing dead people on this forum. Has this been changed now ?
Jezz 0 Posted October 5, 2004 it was the british pc gamer mag i think i probably have that issue some where if you want me to look?

Has this been changed now ? maybe it´s because we had worse pics in the ofp:cp threads. in the pic wilco posted only the crying parents make clear the the kid is actually dead...at least it´s a picture you´ll see in every serious newspaper too
Placebo 29 Posted October 5, 2004 I´d like to know what happened about Wilco posting the pic of a dead kid in the Iraq thread asa) the pic is still there Apologies that has been fixed now, an oversight by us mods b) there have no visible actions been taken I still can remember the argumentation that left no room for interpretation of showing dead people on this forum. Has this been changed now ? He has been permanently banned same as anyone in the past who posted an image of a corpse, when possible we try to inform the person involved before speaking publicly
Placebo 29 Posted October 5, 2004 maybe it´s because we had worse pics in the ofp:cp threads. in the pic wilco posted only the crying parents make clear the the kid is actually dead...at least it´s a picture you´ll see in every serious newspaper too There is no comparison between an image made up of imaginary pixels and an image of real life. Wilco knew it was a corpse as he posted text saying such, thus he can only have himself to blame. We're not a "serious newspaper", we're a gaming forum
Balschoiw 0 Posted October 5, 2004 Thx for clearing that up placebo.
Placebo 29 Posted October 5, 2004 You're very welcome Balschoiw
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted October 5, 2004 The only reason why he was permanently banned was because the forum rules cannot leave any space for interpretation. But the picture itself was absolutely harmless. Wilco therefore did not make a tasteless or immoral mistake but simply deliberately ignored the forum rules. I would prefer if the moderators judge from case to case... in this specific case I think all of us could have overlooked it. But Moderators do their and they do it good so I dont want to intervene. Balschoiw 0 Posted October 5, 2004 How can there be case to case decisions when it´s stated in the rules Albert ? There is no room for case to case decisions. This will only create an atmosphere where some will feel double standards and that´s exactly what rules shall prevent. While a picture may not look offending to you it may indeed look offending to someone else. That´s why this rule, not to post a pic of dead people is there. Where you draw your own border of harming is a personal thing but that´s exactly why there a rules that forbid to post that images at all. As this is a multinational , multiage gaming forum some things have to be regulated. And regulation means : Same rules for all. That´s it.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted October 5, 2004 of course, a military man insists on rules, a civillian like me however defends flexibility and mercy. It is sad that we lost a member such as Wilco. That is the final result noone can argue against!
Balschoiw 0 Posted October 5, 2004 Quote[/b] ]It is sad that we lost a member such as Wilco. He knew it was not allowed and did it fully aware of breaking the rules. It was his own fault, regardless if you assume it as a loss or not. Edit: Don´t try to victimize him. He was aware of what he was doing. I can hear placebo coming , I´m off
Placebo 29 Posted October 5, 2004 of course, a military man insists on rules, a civillian like me however defends flexibility and mercy. I'm not a military man, unless a stint in the Boy's Brigade at age 12 counts But I insist on the rules, without rules we have anarchy, and all that

As Bals said: he deliberately broke the rules. I dont know why someone would do this except he would feel terribly insulted. I remember me having posted "I stick my boots right up to your brain if you ...." because someone realy made me angry. But in Wilco's case there was no such emotion involved. He simply refused to delete that image. Wonder why But as I said. In the end we lost a member. His fault, not ours, but he is gone. Sad for all!
billybob2002 0 Posted October 5, 2004 What is up what that negative going personal crap that sometimes I get by certain people? Is that breaking the forum rules? Flame-baiting? I know one of the mods had to see it in the presidental thread. Plenty of evidence. I know some people were joking but some were not. Not asking for people to banned or get warnings but if that shit happens again, I will report it and I hope you mods do something about it....

The correct thing for you to do is bring our attention to the individual post that you think is flaming you, with the "Report to Moderator" function. One (or more) of us will then look at it, judge to see if it is what we consider flaming, and if it is, we will take action against the offender. This does not mean we will always agree with you, but it will definitely get looked into, and be judged on a case by case basis ;)

Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted October 5, 2004 @ Oct. 05 2004,23:43)]Do you really wonder why you receive personal crap? I sure don´t. Was that really called for?  hehe, the guy was flaming in a smooth way. Ban him! Kind of stupid to do so in the only topic where you can be absolutley sure that the mods read every post carefully. Flaming is against the rules, but always look at the other side before reporting it. Sometimes the person really means something different and you just take it the wrong way (it happened to me). Most will add a smily or 'j/k' to indicate that you don't have to take them serious. When you really think he's flaming, report it. The guy will get a warning for it (in some way) and if he meant something else he'can PM you and the mods to clear the sky That happened to me once; the guy I was ''flaming'' at laughed his ass off, but Placebo thought it was serious flaming because I forgot to add a smily. After a few PM's we finally understood eachother. though
