One small step in OFP - Great step for the Community!

Another great afford to rise OFP realism.

Great idea BAS!

But what sounds will this project use?

Maybe by votes?

The best 10 sounds for download and then voting which will be used?

I prefer realistic sounds.

The sounds will be decided in private, and theres no need for voting, as, well, there are only 4 guys working on JAM atm.

No, it wont, there isnt a need for any more people, and out of those four only two are doing the actual coding, CPP'ing is very easy, time consuming when there are a lot, but very easy. Any more people working on it and it will just get harder to organize, not speed up the process.

congrats on coming to a "common sense" idea... it's a REAL pain having a billion addon's of the same gun on your computer just to use one unit so again congrats and I hope other groups adopt the idea...

There are similar projects like this underway at the minute, although they wont be announced in detail until they progress further.

Hey BAS blokes. If you need any extra help Wires and I could lend you someone from the ADF MOD team that isn't working on something.

Were quite interested in the JAM project and are willing to utilise it in the mod. I just hope we can get some realistic gunfire sounds.

I have to complement you all on the great idea, the project will be fantastic for multiplayer games and one day maybe an inter-modificational campaign with ADF, BAS, ONS troops fighting together.

Well I'm glad I can rely on finding a JAM magazine when I'm running low on ammo...  I just hope it dosn't jam on me... .   Haahaha j/k

But serious this is a good idea, and if my opinion helps, I would vote for the modern conflict marines m16 sound effect.. I think that is by far the best and most realisitic sound and somone should make another version of it too that will work for full auto M4's sound as well.

what exactly does 24 Grenade rounds per vest mean?? eahc grenadier will carry 24 rounds??? lol thats alot of HEDP.

yes its posible to carry 24, i think its called heavy grenadier, he has a vest that has 24 pockets

However we are also including the single rounds, so the mission maker can decide just how many grenades he wants flying around.

omg.. lmao i usually play as the officer, but from now on i guess im just gonna have to be the grenadier.. 24 rounds at my disposal?? this is incredible... i love you BAS :-)

since your showing me this.. it wont be to much to ask for an ingame picture of just this ranger? IN DESERT CAMO please!!!

The ranger using this vest has not been made yet, i think you misunderstand what JAM is for, we are not creating all the guns, we are creating cpp code that addon makers then use to allow the soldiers more realism in the way they can pick up ammunition, also in the end making it more easier to make crates with all the weapons in.

Another thing, a subsonic (less-powerful round used in weapons to reduce muzzle velocity, and therefore sound, when used with a supressor) round in a sniper rifle has been experimented with for a while, but they've haven't found a way to correct that the trajectory looks like a rainbow.  Will these new ammunitions have values to reduce effective range?

Another round you might want to standardize is .45 ACP.  I think many of us would love to see some Mk.23's, or M1911 MEU(SOC)'s.

This project is very exciting...integration between mods has always been a problem, and this is a big step.  For all of our sakes, good luck!   biggrin_o.gif

PS:  Maybe the next innovation will be a way to make AI units activate the scripts we love on the BAS choppers?    biggrin_o.gif

The sniper rifle round hasnt been decided on yet, as well as the way you suggest we could just use a sniper rifle bullet using a supersonic round along with a suppressor, doesnt silence the bullet but does disguise where the shot came from.

And yes, a .45 ACP will probably be included, looks like i forgot that one.

The problem with using different types of rounds in the vest is the same problem as using single rounds, there is a limit of ten spaces in the ammunition slots, and the smallest something can be (ie a handgrenade/magazine) is 1 slot, so this is pretty much the only way to get a realistic loadout on grenadiers, adding in smoke/buckshot/flare rounds will just take up more and more slots lessening the amount of magazines/handgrenades the grenadier can carry.

What about M14, FN Fal and G3, all of them fulfil a "7.62x51mm Single/Auto" class, but they all use differnt magazines...don't they rock.gif
