Half-life 2 is out (and CS:Source)

True, now I find myself bit uncomfortable in old FPS games now that I cant tip over every thing I see. Feels like a movie set. crazy_o.gif

My favorite is to catch a grenade mid flight with the gravity gun and launching it back towards the enemy. It's funny when it smacks them in the forehead, kinda bounces into the air, and then explodes. The explosive creates a sort of airburst around him thus shredding his buddies.

i should have gotten the silver edition, it comes with all half-life engine related games for free, plus a revamped half-life running on half-life2 engine

Take out the 'revamped' part (technically true I guess but you'll see), it's basically Half-Life running on the Source engine, so all the models and textures are the same as in the original (REALLY showing their age), not even from the high-definition pack which I guess still belongs to Gearbox that made the Blue Shift expansion.

The new stuff is ragdoll, new flashlight and new water, plus a sort of 'shine' effect on certain textures as seen in HL2.

HL:S is more aimed at showing modmakers how their HL mods can be converted to HL2, and to be a nice bonus.

I wondered if they'd still retain console variables to change the damage of the weapons. If I ever play halflife 2 it will be good to know I can change those to make the weapons do more damage to humanoids in general, and thus make the game more enjoyable.

I made a .cfg mod for singleplay halflife (No, not svencoop) that basically used a ton of those variables to make the weapons and entities (including myself) take more damage.

By the way. Have any people who've actually played HL2 on this thread suffered from sound stuttering problems? Apparently it's a fairly widespread occurence that's making the experience less than immersive for those individuals affected by it.

I can't set up the dedicated server, because it's just not the same as setting up normal Half Life sad_o.gif

No problems here either, except a few wierd graphical things when entering a new level, but they go away.

Just use impulse 101 on the first level to get all the guns, then do changelevel d3_breen_01 and then to get back to the first one type in changelevel d1_trainstation_01

Then its the key to the left of 1.

Can't get the super grav gun to work in early levels tho, it appears none of the static objects have gravity rock.gif
