Lord... a fully auto Glock. I bet after a few clips, that thing was ready for the scrapheap!

But it looks pretty damn cool!

Notice how the guy wasn't able to place any new shots in the vital target zone on full-auto. biggrin.gif

Did anyone get hurt in that accident?

I hope not, it seemed he misjudged but the pilot should have immediately increased power and collective, to clear the ship and do damage assesment, trying to cling on by your front wheels ain't that smart.

Christ i hope my seaking won't sink that fast! He was probably still trying to work out what went wrong as he went down! Not a good thing at all.

okay on further examination, he did pull up but overtorqued the engine while pulling up perpendicular to the wind as ships always sail in to the wind when recieving aircraft. He came in way to fast as well, he probably needed a piss.

Also he had his rear port wheel entangled, which also fucked him up. It could have been a her actually.

Jas 39 Gripen had two crashes. The amazing part was that the both planes were flown by the same pilot (who safely ejected on both occasions). Both crashes were due to software errors.

JAS Crash in Linköping

JAS Crash in Stockholm

The second one could have ended very badly since this was in central Stockholm during the annual "Water Festival". Fortunately the plane crashed on a beach in a park and nobody got hurt.

Edit: fixed second link

I was there when the 2:nd one crashed (in Stockholm) fortunately, just like denoir said no one was hurt. Even though "Vatten festivalen" (water festival) was the most popular event in stockholm, in the number of visitors.

About half a dozen Force Recon Marines and their Corpsman died.

The pilot wasn't trying to land; he snagged a wheel on the ship's railing while trying to position for a fast-rope insertion.

One question... Isnt fast roping usually done from 30-40 feet above the deck? If so why was the helo so low on it's approach?

Just curious, not in any way implying any incompetance or wrong doing.

No need for a fast rope at the altitude he came in at, they could have stepped off the chopper onto the deck!

Looks like he misjudged the approach, bounced a little on the deck, chopped the power back, and the bugger went over the edge.

He really should have ramped the power back up after that bump. If you look at the video, the snagged wheel seems to help pivot the chopper over, suggesting the pilot was probably trying to keep it level with the deck. If he ramped up the collective, he might have got away with it.

Sadly in this game, mistakes kill.

No idea.  When we did maritime interdictions we never got that close to the deck.

They do these here as well, for Charity. Dump 10,000 ducks 2-3 km upstream, and the first one to the finish line wins a car.

Pretty silly, and you wouldnt believe the restrictions you have to follow (ducks must be fully biodegradeable, 99% of ducks have to be recovered, etc)

Okay that helicopter crash video I found extremely disturbing. Particularly as recent posts tell that I just watched the moment when 7 men died. I am not trying to stir up controversy or anything (really I'm not) as I have noticed most people have replied to this thread with dignity. Please try and remember the fact that the clip is a terrifying testimony to the realities of war and life, and show as much respect as possible when replying to this thread. Oh and I am not American either I am English, but i don't think nationality has anything to do with the point I just raised. Ofp is just a game and nothing more, that is a very distressing glimpse of reality.

Yepp, alive in one piece and not injured. It's the same test pilot you see ejecting on the other clip (that was 4 years later).

He retired after that biggrin.gif

Called a Glock 18, plus the rest of them can easily be modded for fullauto. smile.gif
