How daring are you?

Recommended Posts

Just being curious on this...

When I fly the A-10, I always seem to end up hugging the ground and barely avoiding trees and mountains. I guess I go into 'crazy mode' when I fly one of those babies! Am I unwittingly daring or just plain crazy? (Methinks the second option... confused.gif )

And how about you lot? How daring/crazy are you?

I used to fly low and slow with those. As a matter of fact, below 120 and mostly on the ground or just above. Really kinda gives you can advantage. Except for those damn trees.

Now I fly all over the place. Haphazard yet systematical.

Yeah, it gives you a pretty good advantage. lol, imagine flying that low in MP! I can imagine flying straight and low at the other team. The throw themselves on the ground, pissing their pants while my jet whooshes right over them.

Fun... biggrin.gif

Back on topic, though.

I often crash when I do this, which is kind of disappointing, since the A-10 explodes if a bird smacks into it... yet it seems to be able to handle a fistful of Shilka shells...

In mp it aint good to fly low it will do u no good when all someone has to do is point an AA at you and fire it only take about half a second to point an aa at u and fire and if you are flying away from them they will pretty much get a guarenteed kill on you... so flying low is could be used to an advantage i guess but when it takes 1/2 a second to aim and fire its really not enough time to get behind cover or a mountain or something.

I don't fly all that low with the A10. Around 50-100m.

Does'nt really matter as the AI can spot you just as easily at any height as long as there are no solid objects between. I usually fly around 70 meters and pull up to 2-300 to get optimal accuracy when dropping LGBs on a lased target.

I think I've played 100+hrs with a buddy; coop, one on the ground with the LD and one in a A10 w/GBUs

So, I guess I'm not crazy in a A10, but give me an Apache any time biggrin.gif ...especially during weekend-LANs with uhmmm networking-essentials tounge.gif

As an flight dynamics guy for PSS, (FS2002, see www.phoenix-simulation.co.uk) I wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of how the flight dynamics are stored in the PBO of an A10 for example.. I want to see if I can make it fly more real.. its just too responsive.

Yeah, and the grounds seems to be covered in tanks on that level with a good fps.

Flying low is cool, but the only tactical use I can think for it is to shake off a fighter behind you in MP.

But then again, there is the silly low flying wich I love most biggrin.gif

Certified Crazy...

I'm a roter head, I prefer to drop off grunts in hot LZs in my UH-60. Theres nothing quite like flying a chopper into a Hot LZ, atleast not in OFP.

I'm guessing the resulting mess could be called a AT-1080. biggrin.giftounge.gif

Speaking of flying low, once in Lowlands CTF on SHoP, I was on flying duty (its a no chutes map)... so I just had a successful drop and then I had to outrun a BMP2 machinegun fire. You know that small town in the middle of the bottom of malden with the dock? Imagine this:

Helicotoper evading enemy fire...

About 1 inch from hitting the ground, I ALMOST DIED! Someone else saw me do it... hehehe... it was awesome smile.gif

i was flying a A-10 LGB around a CTF map online and my sides flag holder was running like hell to our flag to return it and i saw a hind chasing him. so i turned and flew straight at him, at like 30 feet away i ejected, i thought i would die when i ejected but i lived! i floated nicely to th ground and watched the hind and my A-10 in a crumpled heap fall to the ground burning. it was awesome, woulda loved a pic.
