dayglow 2 Posted March 11, 2003 When have you ran out of primary ammo? 7 mags for the mp5 is plenty for a ct operation. I know I have read that many sf and ct guys state that they wouldn't pick up a rifle in the field. Has it been cleaned, does if function, etc. If you are blowing all your ammo your doing something wrong. COLINMAN
shadow 6 Posted March 11, 2003 Dayglow: Another reason why I'd like the ability to pick up weapons are : what if you are running around as a sniper and the rest of your teammates are dead. Would be nice to pick up i.e. an mp5 when going in-house etc... ArchangelSKT: I unfortunately don't own a INOX (I only have the regular black one), I'm still waiting for my Mk23 (probably get it some time this week). The 92Billennium is not something I expect to get my hands on, but I'll buy as soon as I get the chance. At the moment there are no stores I know of that can arrange that for me. dayglow 2 Posted March 11, 2003 My guess is it's a functionality vs time thing. As the devs were working they decided that it wasn't worth the time to code vs how it would be used. It's probaby needs some effort to code in. COLINMAN

IceFire 0 Posted March 11, 2003 You completely forget to take into consideration that CT and military teams make a point to NOT TO pick up enemy weapons. Booby traps and coding aside. How do you know the terrorist has properly cleaned it, that it the sights are accurate? You don't. It is a very hazardous thing by picking up and trying to use a weapon that you just found. They are not relyable. Plus, it's not professional.

OxPecker 0 Posted March 12, 2003 Wonder if we'll get jammed on the release date here in Australia like with did with OFP:R. Maybe I should pre-order it online from the US now. Then again, maybe Ubisoft aren't the *@#%$ that Codemasters are.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted March 22, 2003 since this is the thread that is about this game's SP demo, and now that it is out, we can recycle this one. I went to local Fry's Electronics today, and saw the RS3. however, the price($50) immediately made me say f!@# and turn by back on it. I ended up pondeing whether I should get GOTY OFP or buy another copy of Original or red hammer and expansion.

I have to say that I loved the single player demo, and as soon as I can afford it, I am going to pick up the full game. Badgerboy 0 Posted March 22, 2003 Full game is ok. Ai could do with a bit of work. I told a team member to breach a roon, he opened the door, stood in front, and as he readied a grenade, got ripped to shreds.... Now, I do room breaches myself. Plus, when you throw a flashbang, you ready another grenade. What this means is by time the animation has played, and you have drawn your weapon, the Tangos have recovered and blow your kneecaps off. Tex -USMC- 0 Posted March 22, 2003 Must... have... Raven Shield... *gasp*... However, it has not made it into my budget numbers as of yet, so I'm going to have to hold off on it- if for no other reason than to keep the penny-pushers happy lol. If this game had iron-sights (either Infiltration or OFP/AA style), I think it could be as close to perfect as a tactical CQB game can get. But as it is, it's still probably one of the only games I'll buy in the next 3 months or so.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted March 22, 2003 i'm reading through forum at UBI.com and see alot of complains. some are valid, some are not. seems like ppl there want Voice Comm(i'm guessing commanding with voice, not communication using voice), better net code, and there is a thread about patches too. can't beleive they took out replays.... ralphwiggum 6 Posted March 29, 2003 well, this was the thread about demo, and when I saw the real thing a few weeks ago, instead of making a new thread, decided to utilize the old one. for other ppl. here is the thread about RS3 that Renagade made just a few moments ago(that i closed)
OxPecker 0 Posted April 1, 2003 Well, I got this game on the weekend and have to say I enjoy it. I'm a longstanding fan of the Rainbow Six series. This one has an unnervingly CS feel to it thought, but I think that's just a result of the engine. The true test will be a LAN session. Can't wait for that. I used to play coop Rogue Spear for hours and hours. In fact, that was our game of choice (along with the expansions) until OFP came along. I read in the other thread that you don't need to enter your CD key until you join an online game (weird option for copyright). I was wondering why I wasn't asked for it during install. Wonder if this is true for LAN as well? So far been playing lone wolf, so I can't comment on team command performance. The weapons look very CS in first person, and I really miss the "soft" option of a 3rd person view. Somehow not being able to see my character apart from a hand makes him seem less real to me (as weird as that sounds). Anyway, the AI performance seems quite good, they act fairly unpredicatbly, sometimes running, sometimes fighting, and sometimes even surrendering. They seem to make good use of their equipment too (one guy whacked me after throwing a smoke grenade and then getting up close and personal with his pistol; another dazzled my eyes with the torch attached to his Uzi and then blew me away). I haven't explored many maps yet, but the terrain and objects leave a little to be desired IMHO. They have a somewhat unrealistic look/feel, a bit like Halflife scenery. Anyway, like I said, the trues test will be a LAN session, as I'm a coop gamer all the way.
Renagade 0 Posted April 1, 2003 one of my funniest moments in it was in one of the darker levels i was usingg the silenced sniper gun with thermal scope( like the cameras on police choppers) and carefully came round a corner and shot a hostage straight in the head,DOH!! . If there is a narrow hallway the ai doesn't work well and stands in the middle, but if there is room to the side with no barrier then they will. Too bad 1 guy doesn't open the door while another tosses the flashbang which would help the situation a lot. COLINMAN
OxPecker 0 Posted April 1, 2003 1 more thing - I was very disappointed with the grenades in raven shield. In rogue spear, the grenades bounced properly, and with some skill you could bounce them around corners, down stairs etc. Now, while the grenades do bounce off walls in Raven Shield, when they touch the ground they stick fast like they are stuck in tar. S_Z 0 Posted April 3, 2003 Got the full game too and Im really enjoying it! One area where this game really stands out in my opinion is in sounds. The overall sound quality is great. I’m not sure every gun sounds as they should (probably not) but what makes the sound so great is the extremely good use of EAX, I have never heard anything like it. There will be echo where you would expect it and no echo where it shouldn’t be. If you have an EAX compatible card and haven’t tried turning EAX on do that! It may steal some frame rate but I think its worth it.
STS_SolidSnake 0 Posted April 3, 2003 I enjoyed this game but i prefered the rogue spear missions, 747 hostage rescue all the way
FallenPaladin 0 Posted April 3, 2003 What I hate about RS is the way the killed ones fall. I have a few pictures of that. It looks so stupid, like gummydolls... I shot one guy with G3 fullauto and he sat there like having a picknick but dead...
dayglow 2 Posted April 3, 2003 You can download better ragdolls that have stiffened spines and legs so they fall better. Myself I use the action doll with is set to be lighter in the sim. Guys go flying backwards when you hit them and looks great. Not that realistic, but cool. Makes up for the fact that there isn't any pain textures.
