I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but it's a bit hard to search previous posts for images.

That is a picture of two Russian MIGs colliding during an airshow if I remember correctly. Both pilots made it, both planes were totalled. The pilots just got up, brushed off and went for a smoke smile.gif

Both of them must`ve had guardian angels as big as medicine balls crazy.gif

I wonder how the guy from the plane on the bottom was able to eject, because it looks like as if his cockpit`s ripped apart. confused.gif

He had a close call, the other plane hit him just behind the cockpit. It what happened was they were performing some aerobatics and the plane that sliced up through him lost sight of him in some low cloud cover.

Here's some more pics of it:

Yeah, if it wasn't for the russian ejector seat installed in that thing, he said he would have died. I forget what it was called, but I heard it was a very good one.

Odd that I know that. Especially since its only a friggan ejector seat.

I'm not certain, but I believe that on this model of ejection seat you have to pull on something over your head on the back of the seat

I'm actually surprized it took this long for this crack to be made, some people just can't let the Cold War go smile.gif.

No, that was the Germans in the Me-262. Apparently though it killed almost as many pilots as it saved. I believe Sweeden had one around the same time period (for a prop fighter) that had much better results.

A few years ago at least (4 or 5) I was still in high school and living with my parents when I saw the video.

Read about that one...apparenty this plane had to rely on the other one for speed/altitude info during landing as all his instruments were dead.

Man, those pilots must have been:

a) Amazingly skilled

b) Lucky

c) In need of clean underwear!!

They both look pretty messed up, it must have taken a lot of skill to keep from crashing.

Nope, Tovarish, check out the paint jobs and markings, one set of planes belonged to the Marines, the other to the Navy -- separate incidents.

Yeah, I saw that one awhile ago. In fact, I think you posted it!

I wish I could find a picture I saw (or think I saw) a few years back of a B-17 that had been almost cut in half by the wing of a German fighter that slammed into it. THe think managed to limp back to it's base!

Off to google to see if it's more than just my imagination.
