Looks great now :] Looks much better than the picture of it I've seen some time ago on the other topic...

One issue visible on picture is the angle of main rotor - IMO it should be pulled to horisontal, I DO know that choppers move by moving a rotor surface, but.. BIS does not, and in OFP choppers move by pulling nose down.... with rotor pararell to deck surface :]

If textures will be better than current one (wich look... very nice) they will be great :]

Few questions... will there be an armed versions? I do not know a lot about Ka-26 as it is quite new construction, I will know more in few hours, probably searching over net - if you need anything like parameters, ammo-schemes - just ask, I'll post what I've found...

actually, not, the Mi-8 is a bit different, e.g. back rotor is on the other side.

actually no, there are many versions of the Mi-8, just as with most military helicopters, the Mi-8MT/MTV/MTB have the tail rotors on the other sides and are also called the Mi-17 in export versions.

Mi-2 has already been made some time ago. Now author adds noew versions afaik. Mi-2 unfortunately was told not to be released until whole LWP mod (polish army mod) will be complete. And LWP mod almoust died a moth ago, now it has been resurected, but still it seems to take ages till finish... but... because of this fact Mi-2 author told he will think about releasing it earlier...

Ingame Mi-17 is not another name of Mi-8, it is just a name of Mi-8MT (Modificyrowannyj, Transportnyj - Modificated, Transport). In the development stadium, it was named Mi-18, it's first prototipe was build in the middle 70's (1976 as I remember), which was based on Mi-8 with Mi-14's engine.

It was used in the beginning as rescue-helicopter. Army did not used name Mi-18 and named it Mi-8MT, however works on Mi-18 has been continued with an effect of chopper with longer chasis.

At 81' air show in Paris Mi-8MT was to be showed, and name Mi-18 name couldn't be used because it was given to another project (as I written before), russian named this chopper Mi-17 for export purposes.

There is a big confusion about these names. Behind all this things, hardly understable from outside, there are personal - or corporal - ambitions (i.E. this is cause of serpent roads of the name "Su-34" which was firstly given to Su-25T, and then moved to Su-27IB). Sometimes two identical choppers have diffrent names because i.E. one has been made in Kazan, and another in Ulan-Ude :] In addition, there are diffrent names for export, diffrent for inside market, there are also development names, which are also being given by few diffrent systems :]]

In NATO code all transport versions with TW3-117 engine (as in base Mi-8MT) are called Hip-H

Ordered list:

names in bracket "()" are names for export.

engine TW3-117MT:

~ Mi-8MT (Mi-17) from Kazan

~ (Mi-17P) - passanger 'luxury' version

~ (Mi-17P) name is also used for export version of Electronic War chopper as says Kazan info...

engine TW3-117WM

~ Mi-8MTW from Kazan

~ Mi-8MTW-1 (Mi-17-1W)- civil wersion of previus one, produced in Kazan too

~ Mi-8AMT (Mi-171) is Mi-08MTW-1 produced in Ulan-Ude (there is also Mi-171B)

~ Mi-08MTW-2 (Mi-17-1W, same as civilian Mi-8MTW-1)- military desant version form Kazan

~ (Mi-17-1WA) - flying ambulance

~ Mi-17MTW-3 (Mi-172) - civilian/military from Kazan, exclusively for India

~ Mi-8MA Arktyka - Mi-172 development for polar zones

~ Mi-8MB Bissiektr - rescue version, used in Afghanistan

~ Mi-8MD - rescue

~ Mi-8MTPS - rescue

~ (Mi-17M) - both civilian and military (in Dubai 1993 there was version with left half civilian and right half military smile.gif, rear does has been rebuild to be more simillar to Mi-26's bay doors

Modernised Mi-17 was to be build in South Korea on licence by Daewoo Heavy Industries under name of MK-30, I do not have any further info about it...

~ Mi-17Z-2 (Zastabva) is Chechoslovakian version with four big cylinders hanged on the sides

Mi-17 showed in game seems to me to be Mi-8MTW-2

Huh, I think that is all :]

Nope. You have told that Mi-17 is an export name of Mi-8 wich is not truth. Mi-17 is an export name only for Mi-8M and some of it's modifications, which makes only a part of whole Mi-8 family :]

I know that maybe.. I've written too much and nobody bothers to read... :]

well, i did say 'an' Mi-8, not 'the' Mi-8, as i was referring to the Mi-8MT, and then in my second post i said:
