Its pretty good, runs sweet on my XP2000+ with GF4 Ti4200, but its far too short for the price, I finished it the day after I got it, and it only took that long because my motherboard died and needed some major fixing.

Would you please point out the differences between Unreal III and Unreal 2003. Cause I think Unreal 2003 was a cheap improvement of graphics. UT 2003 Is great to play but there is little new! I even think that the UT MP is kind of kiddy stuff sicne it is more of jump&run than using the weapons wisely. The best MP-game I played so far was SOF2...tough to play but a good equilibrium between jump&run and wise application of weapons!

Unreal 2003 = Multiplayer, like Unreal Tournament

Unreal II = Single-player, like Unreal

I plan to get it as soon as my hardware is upgraded (also to a Ti4200).

The developers promised that the story would not be so linear.  Are you sure you didn't just take a shorter path out of many paths?  Deus Ex could be finished in 18hrs or in 60hrs if you didn't skip any of the side trips.  And the lead designer of Unreal II is a huge Deus Ex fan.

I am enjoying the game alot, the settings r great especially in the l8r missions, and the weaponry is kool. This is the kind of game that would get boring if it was 60 hrs. I agree with their choice to make it short. It is very good.pic1 >100k lost some quality pic2

I can't wait for to buy this one. Seriously, the graphics and the fact that it is the sequel to Unreal are worthy enough to buy this. Unfortunately I only have ~$40 now, and it's 70 + tax. sad.gif

The fire effects are indeed amazing. The level where you are fighting the bugs with the flamethrower is fun. It`s like Starship Troopers in first person biggrin.gif

The graphics are really good, especially with 4xFSAA and 8xAF on. I love the assault rifle, that blue muzzle flash... *dribble*

Anyhow, I think it's a helluva lot better than any FPS I've played for 3-4 years. The story isn't very complex but it differs from the usual crap in nice touches like the TCA ship that you get briefs on, the characterisation and so forth.

Btw there is absolutely no multiplay in it whatsoever, that's what UT2003 is for.

Who cares about graphics?

-It's all in the gameplay

-It's all in OFP thumbs-up.gif

I'm actually amazed that a OFP-player brings up the subject on Unreal 2 here.

My opinion on U2:

Boredoom. Just plain and boring gameplay.

Run here, run there, shoot monsters while listening to dull pjong, phuff, plink- sounds of your dull and uninteresting weapons. Total crap surround-sound-coding. A blue muzzle-flash? WTF? Freedom? naah, that would demand some efforts from the developers....They obviously was planning on living on the hype of UT2K3.

Back when Unreal1 was new I must admit I enjoyed playing it. But back then it was new. I really can't see what's new with Unreal2.

I'm so happy I did'nt waste my money on it. smile.gif

Yeah, I'm sure. The gameplay is very linear, if there are side-paths, they are pretty unobvious, and I'm normally one for finding out any possible way to play a game.

Shadow, its different from Operation Flashpoint, think of it as a refreshing little break, like watching a Sci-Fi film instead of a war movie. I'll go on playing Flashpoint, Unreal II will gather dust (with a 3Gb install, I'm not leaving it on my hard drive).

Some games come and go, some games I'll play forever. wink.gif

I was hoping that Unreal2 would take atleast some of my time untill IGI2 arrives, but I was wrong.

That means all my time is devoted to continue exploring the adventure called O2 smile.gif

Indeed, I've tried the leaked demo (sorry I know it's kinda illegal, but I was just too curious tounge.gif) and even though I only get something like 1-10 FPS with low resolution, it's still mind blowing wow.gif.

I'm probably buying Unreal II when I find it from my local shop's used games shelv wink.gif (and when I have updated my comp). But right now I'm waiting for Doom 3, Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3.

According to the Unreal 2 programmers (not sure if this is confirmed or not) a gamer can expect to play Unreal 2 for 7-10 hours before completing it, frankly for Å35 or whatever that's bollocks, I want a lot more longevity from a game, the only interest I have in Unreal 2 is future games that will be made with the engine.
