Die Alive 0 Posted February 1, 2003 Not even an hour after the mishap there are jokes being posted in various newsgroups, most of them regarding the Israeli. :o Checking EBay now to see if any debris are being sold yet. -=Die Alive=-
TaNK_Em 0 Posted February 1, 2003 May the people that died on the Colombia rest in peace wherever they are. It has been a bad day today. These people most likely did not deserve to die yet they did I hope there in a better place. God bless there souls and family. - TaNK_Em (Kevin)

Milkman 1 Posted February 1, 2003 I was listening to radio this morning and just learned about it. This is really horrible. Supposidly during liftoff, a piece of insulation broke off and hit the wing, but NASA engineers said there was nothing to worry about. I guess they were wrong... edc 0 Posted February 1, 2003 I don't think there is any audio of the actual explosion yet, since I've not heard it on the news, though they have said that people reported hearing a rumble or a boom.
Wilco 944 Posted February 1, 2003 That one sort of has audio, but dont know about the explosion.
Milkman 1 Posted February 1, 2003 What was the last radio message NASA control recieved? Have they released that? It could clue us in to what happened.

sseagle 0 Posted February 1, 2003 Man, and I was having a good day. Those damn tiles were what did it, you see it coasting level, then a seperation of something, then it pitched up momentarily, pitched down and went in. My thoughts to the astronauts and their families.....
5thSFG.CNUTZ 0 Posted February 1, 2003 MSNBC Live Sat Feed For those out there without a TV in front of you.
Milkman 1 Posted February 1, 2003 I was having a great day too, I was going to buy my airsoft gun but thats a thing of past now. But the theory I have heard on TV and what I have contructed is: During Liftoff, a peice of insulation hit the wing, NASA engineers said it would have no major effect. During reintry, a part of the wing ripped off (You can see something fall off before the whole thing vaporized) The loss of the object caused the shuttle to either A. Dip in at an angle too low or B. Begin a roll that exposed the unprotected top of the shuttle to the atmoshpere. The loss of the object caused the entire breakup of the shuttle.
Winters 1 Posted February 1, 2003 A sad, sad, day. Godspeed to the crew.
FSPilot 0 Posted February 1, 2003 Why are they worried about fuel though? The oribiter is a glider, it uses up most of it's fuel during launch. This is a pretty horrible event, my thoughts and prayers are with them and their families. And I doubt this is terrorism, but I just don't know.

ralphwiggum 6 Posted February 1, 2003 my condolences to all those astonauts's family. it was only a few days ago when Challenger took lives of astronauts 17 years ago. piece of foam fell down and thought that was ok? geeze..... edit: year approximation of Challenger accident

bn880 5 Posted February 1, 2003 All of you saying you were having good days until this, well I was having a shitty day because of my "neighbours". Maybe this will make you feel better.
Milkman 1 Posted February 1, 2003 Yeah a piece of damn foam, thats all it took. And it is truley ironic that the challenger blew up on practically the same day, years ago.
FSPilot 0 Posted February 1, 2003 Well the big cheeses at NASA ignored their engineers when they warned them about the O-ring on the Challenger. Maybe they were doing the same?
