Your poll needs to be less broad. I prefer a gun that can spray, but can also be used for accurate shots. The M16A2 for example.

I like guns that require real skill to use effectively. When I played CS (yes, at one time, looong ago) I always used the Scout. Bolt action, innacurate unless you are crouched, and required a head-shot if you were planning on surviving. It caused me to get my ass kicked frequently, but whenever I got into a groove it would be a tremendous feeling of satisfaction to know that my success came from skill, not from an overly strong weapon.

yes i could of put another option like the m16 from OFP or americas army or the g3 from firearms mod but i think they would fall under the first option becuase they take a few well placed hits to take someone down ,"POP POP", "2: I got one" ,unlike the m4 in cs where u can swipe it over enemies while firing and score 3 headshots confused.gif

I wonder what would be better in real life though like say if there was 2 ppl fighting and one had a high cap .22 pistol and the other one had a high calibre 6 shooter.

Thanx to mod for changing the title,it fits the subject better smile.gif

You can't take someone down with one shot from an M-16? tounge.gif

It depends actually. It's a small caliber bullet, but it's still a bullet. If it goes through the right place you'll drop your target.

Guns are essential. Off course they make games like OFP or CS or games in general that cover certain distances.

My choice is the G36 here.

Great gun, not heavy , very accurate.

BUT and this is a big BUT  biggrin.gif , I love handgrenades. A well tossed Handgrenade saves my day IT is fun to lob a grenade into a window and see the confirmed kill on the bottom line of OFP. I don´t mean fraggers running around tossing grenades like headless sheep, but those accurate thrown grenades that make us all smile.

Therefore I miss the grenade pistol in this poll. I love it in real life as in OFP. It is a lot of calculating and "feeling" needed with this guns and they are great to handle weird situations.

which brings up the question, why are they impact detonated and not time detonated?

The engine has propably problems making it look real. I think it would get stuck right where it hits the ground.

So to remove that problem they let it detonate at impact.

In OFP I would chose G36 more acurate and power full than Dragunov and M21 and it has burst and full auto.

I always youse if fore sniping because you can hit a man in the finger and hi stil dies.

In real life a M4A1 whit some kind of little scope just as light lighter as G36K.

STGN(I have only fired C7A1, G3A3 and MG-3)

I've chosen Generic railgun...

Simply because i like to snipe in games, but a one shot one kill sniper rifle is rather stupid. A headshot or a shot in the chest should be a kill but in some games even shooting someones hand can kill them...

I like sniping, as long as it's a bit realistic... but not too much smile.gif

In the game world I choose the M-16 w/ frag grenades option. They work both in OFP and in America's Army. AA is great for frags, I love getting 4 kill frags, those rock!

As for the real world: Depends on the fighting, but I will always have a pistol with me. smile.gif

hehe, in AA I go nuts when I have a SAW- unfortunately, I score almost as many friendly kills as enemy kills, so I try and moderate my SAW-age, especially when I'm tired or have alot of caffeine in my system tounge.gif

I was always a grenade spammer in TFC, especially as a Engy, i'd EMP EMP EMP EMP then I'D FRAG FRAG FRAG FRAG, especially when guarding our flag.

In OFP, I enjoy using M16-M203s, so I can shoot at them, or if they're in large group, launch a grenade at them.

I might choose that if the loadout for the M-203 was more realistic.

In OFP, you only get three rounds. In Real Life, the minimum combat load is 36 HE rounds in accordance with FM 23-31, and SOP calls for the use of a minimum of three to five rounds to be fired at area targets.

I understand that making the loadout for the M-203 would change the game balance quite a bit in favor of the Grenadier, but so what? I'd still love to have that in the game.

Thats why in the SEB Nam Pack, the M-203 can carry a bit more realistic loadout of 20 HE rounds and 80 rounds of ammo for M16. I dont find since I have 17 more HE rounds I use them more, like I said, I always want multiple kills with my grenades, so I only use them on groups of enemy, and bullets on single units.

Whoa holy shit 36 nades? Do you know what that would do to games? The M203 would be as whored as the AWP (CS) or G36 (RS) or even OFP's Steyr. wink.gif 10 would be a nice, balanced amount tho.

I use the M-203 mostly to ambush groups of enemies. Since reloading is a bit slow, I find that I can't use the M-203 effectively if I don't have an element of surprise.

Other times when I'll use one of the precious M-203 rounds is when I see someone disappear into vegetation. The blast radius makes it a good choice for going after targets whose exact location isn't known, and since an enemy behind concealment represents an immediate danger to myself and my team mates, I try to take them out with a 'nade before they have a chance to do any damage.

How would u carry all those grenades,in a litt bag or on a belt??

I wouldn`t mind having a more realistic take in games because wouldn`t u be able to balance it out depending on the mission, changeg a few things herer and there etc.

For example the g36 shouldn`t be as powerful as it is and the fal should be semi-auto and more powerful.

I miss the ability to time the nades in OFP.My best tatic in games with those kind of nades was to make them "air-burst" so anyone hiding behind a ledge that would of survivedd if it went off on the ground now gets fragged biggrin.gif but impact detonated ones have their advantages too ,no more running away frtom a live nade for my opponents smile.gif

ps, the most whored weapon in cs is the assault rifle,if ur having with awpers be creative wink.gif

The mortar is better, although it takes even LONGER to load!

I usually have 8 (40mm) in the crossbelt and up to 10 lose ones in the sidebag. i don´t take more with me. they are pretty heavy and 18 is enough for almost any situation i can think of.

Why isn't there a fourth option - the diplomatic alternative:

Excuse me dear Mr. Spetznaz! I say, is that a recoil- or gasoperated rifle you have there. Mind you, if it is gasoperated you will have turn it in for some inspection, because gas is not good, as it is regarded a weapon of mass destruction  wow.gif  If you fail to comply dear ol' chap - I'll have to make a hole in you with my generic railgun!   smile.gif

I guess i'd have to say the generic railgun, although I always try to be versatile. I should point out that my favourite loadout in OFP is an SVD and a Skorpion as a sidearm.

I meant the M-16 type weapon (preferably a C7A1) and hand thrown M-67 frag grenades, not the M-203. smile.gif  I probably should have cleared that up. An M-203 is useless inside of 40-50m, unless you shoot it straight up. wow.gif Frag grenades are more powerfull and are much more handy in urban environments, thick underbrush, and forests.

The M-203 is nice but it's by far the most boring weapon I've ever used. The projectile is so slow that you can watch it all the way out to it's maximum range, despite the fact that it is only 4cm across. If you saw one coming at you, you should have enough time to get out of the grenades' max kill radius of 5m.

Oh, and I agree with you about the loadout for the M-203, MM1, GP-30, and the (?)SPG-6(?). There are far too little grenades to play with. There are a bunch of additional ammo mods for these weapons, I know Operation Northstar made one for the 203: I lobbied them to do it. tounge.gif
