akm74 1 Posted January 26, 2003 Can someone confirm that headlight work at night? Some peoples say it not, but it works for me. So far there is standard BIS weapons, I only start working on custom weapons for BMD. I’m agree, 4 konkurs to disable Abrams is way too many. I will use characteristics from my earlier Konkurs M add-on for it. BTW guys, in final release there will be 2 models (in single PBO) BMD3 and BMD3M (also called BMD4 “SPRUTâ€) It has main weapons from BMP3. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Overall this makes it extremely heavily armed for its size - more so than a BMP-1 or 2. The Russians seem to have a knack for fitting loads of big weapons into small vehicles <span id='postcolor'> BMD3 really unique. I read it can make precise burst from main cannon even when it in water.
blackdog~ 0 Posted January 26, 2003 Headlights work but you cannot have the gunner inside. He must be set to "safe" or "careless" in order for them to be on. Driver doesn't control lights unless he is alone in tank.
Guest Posted January 26, 2003 Excellent addon One suggestion: Right now a damaged/destroyed BMD3 has the same color as a destroyed one. If you check BIS models you'll see that destroyed/damaged vehicles have the damaged parts darkened. That would be nice to have here too
Vikingo 0 Posted January 26, 2003 Hey! Like this unit. Was playing with it (well more testing than playing it) and almost all went fine (this is more final than beta) but I have some questions. I notice that the great markings used here don't look that nice than in pics... This seems to be once again a problem that voodoo cards have with tome textures... First the transparent stuff in Kord addon, then the optics that shows white instead of black, then some problems with the tank tracks from Sigma-6 and now these markings... Please AKM74 can you confirm me if you use 256x256 textures? I think those don't work fine with voodoo old cards that can reach 128x128. If all this is becuase that no big problem I stay calm that is a card trouble the things I'm having these last times but if not thatis time to worry for me becuase I'm not getting the things running like I want. If is other game no big problem but if it's related with OF is other thing! Have in mind to change the card or a better one but can't change the 500 Mhz and I'm sure OF runs more smooth under Glide with this Voodoo in a humble machine than under Direct3D with other card (gforce) without changing all the computer so I'm in troubles here hehe But well this don't matter to others, so "subordination and valor" here hehe Here -like always hehe- some pics for show better the things... I notice also the RPM gauge go crazy "bug". The no-lights one and this strange one when you are in driver turn out. I feel like the girl from "The exorcist" moviewhen I turn the head LOL Maybe is becuase the soldier is placed a little in angle so the head movement is strange... The unit interiors are sweet and is nice to see that the periscopes are in great position and you can see outside well using them. Even the cargo one! The BMP cockpit from first demo was so nice. You did a great job editing it (heavy and nice editing there I see). So... I like very much this beta, just that I have those little clues. Thumbs up! munger 25 Posted January 26, 2003 Yep, I think that must be a Voodoo problem because the red star and emblem look fine on mine (GF3). Time to upgrade Vikingo mate. miles teg 1 Posted January 26, 2003 The nice thing about Vikingo's critiques of an addon is that he does it in a very friendly way and of coarse in a very detailed manner with screen shots to backup his observations. This leads to good constructive comments and responses plus everyone learns from them. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
akm74 1 Posted January 26, 2003 I’m just notice the BMP icon (in the top left corner of the screen) with armor value and fuel level is missing. I don’t know how to put it back. Anyone?
Gollum1 0 Posted January 26, 2003 Aah, I´ve said it before and I´ll say it again: AKM74 0wNz j00! I just love this addon, even though it´s beta! The interior textures are detailed and dirty, looks completely real. Suggestions: 1. Call the weapons by their real, full names. 2A72 30 mm APSFDS (or just AP) AG-17 + type of grenades, don´t remember right now PKT 7.62 mm AT-6(?) Konkurs M ATGM Correct me if I´m wrong. 2. Troops could sit on the roof once the inside is full, but I really don´t know if troops actually do this with BMDs. 3. That pin in front of the driver is going crazy! But great work, as usual! Beats BIS any day Now, if I only had some Russian Airborne to sit inside it... *subtly looks over to AKM74*
hellfish6 7 Posted January 27, 2003 I too would like to add some things: 1. Great, great addon! It's my new favorite vehicle. 2. From FAS.org: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The two-man power operated turret is armed with a 30-mm 2A42 dual feed cannon and a 7.62-mm PKT machine-gun mounted coaxially to the right. The roof-mounted ATGM launcher can fire either the AT-4 SPIGOT or AT-5 SPANDREL. The bow-mounted AG-17 30-mm automatic grenade launcher and 5.45-mm RPKS machine-gun are operated by the infantrymen seated in the front of the BMD-3. The automatic grenade launcher has 290 ready rounds and 261 in the rack. The ATGM launcher has 3 ready rounds (one on the launcher), and two stowed. The Russian SANOET-1 thermal gunner's sight is available. Thermal sights are available for the ATGM launcher. The Russian Trakt/1PN65 thermal imaging ATGM night sight is optional. Acquisition range is 2,500 m (NFI). For the ATGM launcher in dismount configuration, the Russian Mulat/1PN86 lightweight thermal ATGM night sight has 3,600 m detection range and 2,000 m identification range. French-German Flame-V adapter kit permits the BMD-3 to launch Milan, Milan-2 and Milan-3 ATGMs. Russian KBP offers a drop-in one-man turret, called Kliver, with a stabilized 2A72 30-mm gun, a 4 Kornet ATGM launcher, thermal sights, a coaxial 7.62-mm MG and improved fire control system. <span id='postcolor'> So there is indeed a commander, unless we are using the "Kliver" turret. And if we are, it sounds more like that's a special BMD 3 instead of a standard BMD 3, and I would suggest then that the add-on be named "BMD 3 Kliver". 3. There can be seven people maximum in the BMD 3. Three crew plus four infantrymen. I would like it to be possible - OPTIONAL - to include a larger infantry compliment by having additional soldiers carried as cargo on the outside (see BTR-70 addon) as others have suggested before. See this quote, also from FAS: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The crew consists of commander, gunner, driver, and four infantrymen, with the commander normally dismounting with the squad. Three additional infantrymen may be carried in an emergency in the rear. <span id='postcolor'> This sounds more like packing them in like tuna instead of sardines. I'd let 'em ride up top instead, unless they were being paradropped. 4. I would also support naming the weapons by their appropriate, instead of BIS, names. Change "MGun" to PKT, 30mm cannon to 2A72 (Kliver) or 2A42 (Standard) and ammo M929 30mm APFSDS-T/30mm HEI-T, the 9P135/AT-5B Konkurs M, etc. 5. Increase the rate of fire for the AG-17. I would suggest that realism will balance itself out. 6. Of course, these are only friendly suggestions. I'm totally happy with the vehicle right now. PAZ 0 Posted January 27, 2003 The biggest problem to me is that the BMD-3's AT-5 SPANDREL ATGM should have a max range of at least 4,000 m, not the 1,000 m you currently have them at. Anything within 1,000 m is cannon fodder, not for the ATGM anyways. Min range is 75 m. I know your just using the BMP-2's missile (opened the file up in notepad ), but I would suggest you use the ATGM from ASH's IFV pack, or make your own, or course. That is a really good pack, making the BMP's way more realistic and effective in combat. I would recommend anyone to download that, and perhaps you could release a "realistic" version of the BMD-3 with lower amour (not bullet proof) and better weapons, like ASH's pack. The reload time is a little long for the game, but accurate (20 seconds, and it says they launch off 2-3/minute). If you want to make your own missile: http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/at5spandrel.htm. Otherwise, great add-on!!! -PAZ-

From Rosoboronexport </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Crew, men 3 Â Troops, men 7 <span id='postcolor'> From Janes: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The BMD-3 normally has a crew of seven: three in the front of the vehicle, including the driver; two people in the turret; and two in the troop compartment to the immediate rear of the turret. The troop compartment is very cramped and for short distances the BMD-3 can carry only 10 people. <span id='postcolor'> From ]this site: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The crew consists of commander, gunner, driver, and four infantrymen, with the commander normally dismounting with the squad. In the US Army, for example, a M-2 Bradley platoon will typically have the platoon commander (a lieutennant) and the senior squad leader (a sergeant or staff sergeant) dismount with the infantry. They will command the infantry element while the platoon sergeant and junior squad leader will command the vehicle element.
