The mod of the ToH characters, including the faces that appear in Take on Helicopters, Arma2, Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead, Arma 2 British Armed Forces, Arma 2 Private Military Company, Arma 2 Army Of Czech Republic... adapted for Arma 3, have their limitations as they are poor quality Arma 2 textures. But they have been adapted and the necessary textures have been created to make them look as good as possible.

New story characters!
I've started a new project in the MOD, it's about bringing these faces to life in the Armaverse.
So, I'm creating story characters that can be used in missions or campaigns to create new and exciting scenarios.

In addition to the character, I am adding a brief description of them, to give possible ideas of what or who they might be.

    • Veteran of war, one of the most recognized instructors among the VIPER, although he is more famous for his bad temper.
  • Morten Gregorius: SPETSNAZ medic.
    • Combat medic, with strong nationalist convictions. War crimes attributed to him.

    • Corrupt to the core, old sergeant in the gendarmerie. Linked to local mafias and syndicate activities.

How to do a face conversion from A2 to A3?

Some people have asked me where is the difficulty in taking some textures from Arma 2 and adding them to Arma 3.
Well, behind this mod there is a lot of technical and artistic work.
Given the amount of faces that existed, I looked for a way to automate the process to some extent and thus be able to work with such a volume of faces.

It is not a simple copy and paste, as it requires a total deconstruction of quality and detail in the faces of A2.

Using the CUP mod, in the United States Marine Corps faction you can find their bodies fully equipped, simply by changing the face of the character's identity you will have them ready to fight.

I've started to work on it and to give a little more difference to the faces of Arma 2, I'm adding new head shapes and correcting some others.
In today's patch, I'm adding minor visual corrections and above all, 2 new very striking heads.

COOP from Razor Team FINALLY in ARMA 3!!!

 

Just a question, any chance to update or port the "skin" textures from CWC? Mainly the protagonists and antagonists (Guba, Victor/Viki Troska, James Gastovski, David Armstrong, Sam Nichols Robert HAmmer and Dmitri Lukin from Red Hammer)?

Hi @Valken, thanks for the comment, I also adore the Razor team.

Althoughit would be more incredible to relive the ArmA 2 campaign in ArmA 3.

 

On the subject of CWC, the cards, unlike ArmA 2, are very small, 256x256 pixels.

I did not know that original textures were that small.

 

I wonder if we can take the CWC texture files and run it through an AI scaler to enhance details and scale it up?

Then rework it in a paint program?

Edit - agree with you about remaking ARMA 2 in ARMA 3. 

 

I want to play Red Harvest with Coop and Razor team again in ARMA 3 engine. Ideally in COOP MP mode online for a refresh.

 

The CO, then the PMC, BAF and ACR missions!

 

If there was an easy way to do a port or CUP/RHS replacement scripting, that would probably help.

For CWC i used 4x on soldiers and 2x on everything else. I didnt touch most .paa's cus they caused problem and looked uglier. I'll send you the files at an apropriate time

I've tried image enhancement AI, and they definitely don't work for textures.
The final result is much worse than hand work, even though it's more laborious.

Yes, it is probably better to copy and paste only the "face" (eyes, nose, and mouth areas) and merge it into another hires ARMA 3 texture with hair, then blend the facial colors to match. The results would look much better but more work.

 

I am a total graphics amateur so do not have the skill set to pull this off. Just a copy and paste newbie!

 

Seems modders nowadays are almost like Surgeons! 😄

Dear ladies & ladies!

Version 1.300

 

I've been waiting a few weeks for the fruit to be ripe, and I think it's time to harvest.

 

This is a new addition to the ToH Characters package, including the heads of the women who appeared in Arma 2. They also include some of Take on Helicopters and Arma 2 OA (these are extremely complex as they are Arab women with scarves covering their heads).

 

In total 37 new faces are added, including some repeated versions with subtle changes that required the Arma 2 campaign.

I don't include women's bodies (for now). But as you can see, the look of the clothes is not so problematic either, and once in play you don't look so much.

 

It also includes 5 models of women's heads, which adapt very well to helmets and glasses. And they are fully functional.

I'm not including hairs/wigs either, but maybe soon something like that can be added.


It's not perfect yet, but little by little it will be possible to correct it here and there.

Awesome update! The CSAT uniforms with the tighen waist looks fairly good actually!

 

But those "hands"! I would be a tad intimidated if those rested on my shoulders. LOL...

I also tried that supposed image enhancer, but in the resolution that this texture is, a minimum quality is not feasible.

Working on a few more women's faces, adjusting for ethnic equality. Possibly 5 of them will be Asian and 5 African-Tanoan-American.

I would love to see some different female hairs as HATs or glasses so we can have variety but I don't want you to spent that much time modeling it.

 

Zombie versions to match the sickness from OLD MAN and maybe to support Ravage, Max Zombies and Benson's Zombies and Demons mod. (Binge watching Fear the Walking Dead + Walking Dead series while stuck at home during the Pandemic).

 

Or just some texture fun to create other non-normal types... 

 

PS: Can you share the samples so we can try to create variations textures?

The problem for the hair, mainly is that each head has a color, you have to think of some system to not have to add 1 hair with 10 colors.
Hats and glasses, there is a lot of mod that adds this content and is compatible with these heads.

 

Zombies? OMG... the truth is that I have never looked at the script of a zombie face. I remember seeing zombie women in Arma3. I don't discard it...

 

I was thinking about some camouflage textures... maybe it would be a good option for all the faces. But we're back to the issue of not having 1k faces on the list.

 

PS: You can take any of the textures to adapt your own version. You could even try to create a "custom female face" setting so that you can simply add it to your profile.

Really good looking females and I do have some comments on the body proportions:

 

Please make the shoulders, biceps and hands more proportional (slightly slender)

Those male hands are distracting without gloves.

 

Legs look great and could taper the thighs so it looks a bit more slender.

Note the two models on the right technically are using male bodies so looks perfect with Vanilla ARMA sized gear.

Lastly, maybe some cool female tattoo skins... Even cool emo girl tats.

The truth is that I do not believe in women so stylish, will be my preference as a man or maybe I have more than 45 years and I'm married (believe me... watching my wife get out of the bath, makes me see women differently!)

I am guided more by the references I have of real women in the army, since ArmA3 is a military game.

My study of the situation:
Women, within society, are typecast in roles or patterns of appearance. But in these women of ArmA3, military in essence, you don't look for that "vase woman" or "barbie model" performance (sorry guys, they are not here to recreate your eyes).

Women are now beginning to take on the role of soldiers, beyond the office or quartermaster.

In 2015, a woman entered the Ranger corps for the first time, passing the tests just like any man.

 

Women Soldiers 2035:

By this date, women will likely be much more integrated into the military as combatants.
The mentality of "women killed in armed conflict" begins to carry less weight than their equal rights requirements.

If you search for female soldiers, most of the photos you will find are of pretty girls, with good makeup (sexy camouflage, not tactical), in photo poses or in videos on firing ranges.

In the parades you can usually see girls with very good makeup, with long nails holding the rifle. But remember that this is just propaganda, they tell us "hey boy, pretty girls, join the army!"

There are many images of women in training or real action, which show real women combatants.
These women are strong, they have to carry their wounded companions in combat. They have to lift them off the ground and carry them on their shoulders.

The concept is not to look for femininity, but to take into account the differences between men and women. Focusing on differentiating between the real and the fictitious.

The compatibility of the vest, that's a good point. This is really what I am looking for, a real compatibility with all the objects of Arma3, that is why I am basing on the Bohemia Interactive system and not creating my own system of faces/heads and bodies. That has its limitations, such as position of the animation bones or size of the necks, hands, height, ears, skull, feet, etc..

But believe me, I'm looking for complete compatibility. So just modify some models of uniforms to have almost the whole set of soldiers' suits.

The problem with the Hands, perhaps lies more in the texture than in the model itself, they are somewhat smaller, but the texture does give a hard and wrinkled appearance.

Tattoos, whether male or female, are usually attached to the heads. It's something rare to use, you require a unique texture for only 1 character.
I have some tattoo textures started, but I reserve it for main story characters.

@Jove Chiere Great to hear your ideas. I think you can use the Max Women as your reference. It is still a stronger body than the ones on the left, but still realistic in terms of sizing. It is also nearly 100% compatible  with standard ARMA male gear.

 

You can switch between Zee and Max's for it.

 

The others on the left are definitely more "feminine" as in in TV and movies, but they look great in civilian or security roles.

 

Also, you being in Spain, I think you know what good looking strong women are. ;)
