well, I agree the signature rule being rather senseless...

My sign 123x123 is NOT below the limi since it's 23pix too high... BUT it's widht is ONLY 123 also so whats the sense in the limits...  the "56k users with slow connections..." Well I'm sure that my pic takes less time to load than a 100x500 one for example

I certainly don't intend to close this thread and I don't think the other mods do either. We decided to start deleting non-related posts about a month ago, and we've given you guys plenty of warning about it.

Rules are rules... you may have DSL or Cable, but a big chunk of the forum doesn't, and it does them absolutely no good to admire the images that you guys make when half of the posts are completely useless to them. This thread is meant to be about OFP images and specific comments on that alone. Not for making fun of other members, not for joking around with other members and not for general chitchat - unless it's specifically related to combat photography.

Is that too much to ask? This is not a public server we're on. It belongs to BIS, they set out the rules and us mods enforce them. Simple as that. I mean, do you really want the forums to take on the appearance of that of other games out there? I've been to several other forums for games similar and dissimilar to Flashpoint and I think ours is definately one of the best run and most welcoming. If you'd rather see unorganized chaos and unchecked flaming, by all means, explore the web boards of some other games out there. It's not fun and it's certainly not the kind of place we want here.

One of the benefits of the Official Flashpoint forums is that we're official. This is the place that all Flashpoint players come to sooner or later for help with a technical problem, to meet other players and/or to find the latest addons. If this becomes an unwelcoming environment, then it does BIS absolutely no good to have a forum presence here. Thousands of players come here, and every once in a while we find a bad apple. In an attempt to prevent that handful of people from ruining it for all, BIS and the mods devised those rules that you all seem so upset about. This gives us, the mods, some flexibility in dealing with the Negative Nellies that come here.

100kbs is plenty big enough for any images. And if everyone had a huge sig, then you can imagine the pain of a 56ker (and I'm sure we were all 56kers at one point or another). These rules are compromises. Are they really so unjust? Are you being oppressed by them?

128x123 and the only reason it's invalid is becouse of it's 123 height... now how HUGE is that for a signature? a small filesize.... just the tiny 23 pixs too much in height...

Hellfish, I can't say I agree with the 100k policy but I'm not going to challenge you on it. It would be futile to try and get the rules changed by my own actions. However I propose another solution, a vote. This would take place on the General Forum and have a Yes or No option to change the maximum picture size to lets say 300k (an example). If the vote comes through then the size will be changed. I can't think of any other way of doing this. HOWEVER, this rule would only apply to /this/ thread and not to others.

On your second issue of the bantering and "making fun", well a lot of us come here to have fun and to just be social with the other members, sure we jostle eachother but there is no real hurt in it aslong as it doesn't get way out of hand.  It certainly isn't welcoming when you post in fear of your posts being deleted because it wasn't on-topic "enough".

Meanwhile I also understand that some order has to be maintained on these forums but recently I feel it has been taken to an extreme. I'm sure that a lot of us, seeing how popular this thread is would eventually get it back on topic with nice pictures.
