Some day, all wars will be fought like this?

Recommended Posts

i dont get your point here... do you mean, wars being fought via media or do you mean by civilian mob?

interesting article, it would be very interesting to know how the islamic culture has developed in a country like this.

Some (like our winner)chose not to enter the contest because of the lack of respect for women in nigeria. (or was it human rights?)

Anyway,on somewhat of a related subject, there's a program on here about beauty pageants, behind the screens, funny as hell.

All the flemish girls have to speak perfect french, and the ones from wallonia just say 'je parle pas de neerlandais'.

Still makes them all a lot of ditzes, just funny to see smile.gif

Hey, maybe we can form a new alliance starting with Korea and Canada, to fight all future conflicts in VBS2. smile.gif Maybe some other countries will join also.

And having the beauty pageant there during the month of Ramadan, given the history of religious violence in the country was a brilliant idea, wasn't it?

No one forced them to go into the convention room and watch the damn thing. It's not like it was outside for all to see.

It's not the point if they see it or not. In their religion it's considered sinful. They're the majority, and they don't want it happening in their country, especially during Ramadan. It's another example of a government with it's head buried deeply up it's ass.

I'm not saying they're right in the violence they are comitting, it boggles the mind that people keep acting this way in the name of God, but it's not like the Christians there are behaving themselves either. This is the sort of thing why I'm an atheist tounge.gif.

Majority = Mob. Too bad more people don't understand the principle of "majority rule, subject to minority rights."

I agree with you on that, but my initial point was that it was a stroke of real genius to hold the pageant there and now, considering the history of religious violence.

Not to forget the Nigeria is still a 3rd world country. People get double pissed if Ramadan is broken and Luxury Lillies show up with more attention from TV stations and media than the suffering people on streets.

Hum..

What would happen if a group of white supremacists held a 'white power' march in say..Montgomery, Alabama on Martin Luther King Day?

I think there would be more than a little violence.

Mob = bad

And yes... we should have minority rights. But sometimes the minority needs to consider the rather deep beliefs of the majority before they chose to exercise those rights.

Be that as it may, this is a rather disgusting look at the less rational side of human nature. The Muslims started it, yes. But the christians dont appear to be 'turning the other cheek' All in all, makes me glad to live here and not there sad.gif

There are stupid ideas almost in every religion.

And because of misinterpreting of these ideas there was (and there will be) too much evil acts for "good" things.

You've got your news story kinda half assed there, the woman in question was married and got knocked up by another man, thus she was tried and found guilty of adultery which is an offence punishable by death over there, last I heard she was appealing the sentence and supposedly the punishment would no longer be death so that the beauty pageant would go ahead, so in reality one woman lives so that 150 or whatever can die, funny world we live in smile.gif

No, I read once that a woman was stoned because she was raped, that is really dumb. And I said "what if", as well. And obviously if there is a law like that then someoen who will get impregnated without wanting to do so will get stoned! mad.gif

that's called sharia. it is the legal system all orthodox moslem societies are striving for.

islam is always politics and law also, never just religion. if you see this differently, you obviously know nothing about islam.

(a kaliph is known to be a ruler, but the word means "successor", of mohammed, that is. the first three or four killed one another, by the way, when mohammed died.)

I agree, to hold a pageant in that place is moronic and shows great lack of discernment.

...and ralph: I think to punish assault like that is uncalled for. I remember r..., - somebody, to badmouth the victims of 9/11 (of wahhabi moslem violence) and all he got was one day.

oops forgot to edit my post. he has been reduced to 24 hours. but next time, no leniency.

but then again, you are asking for equality, when someone who is suppose to be morally higher acts like the morally inferior person. so stakes should be higher for the morally higher person wink.gif (just a thought)

There is a big difference there. Badmouthing the wictims of 11/9 is tasteless. Badmouthing all the members of a world religion is not tolerable. The only reason why Assault was not perm-banned is that we decided to give him the benifit of the doubt, that he wasn't refering to all muslims, but to those involved in the incident.

Don't look at the actions of man instead of the religion istelf.

Anyway, most muslims (maybe not most, I don't know, but not ALL muslims...) are not like this.  So it's unfair to judge a whole religion by the actions of a few.  But that's already been established I hope.

Frankly, I don't know much about the religion of Islam.  But it sure looks to me like some of these people need to keep their minds open about things.
