N.o.R.S.u 0 Posted October 24, 2002 I also like Battlesounds pack. Goeth's Resistance sound pack which replaces crappy pistol, FN FAL and HKG3 sounds is a must have also, http://kyllikki.tiimipeli.net/downloads/SoundAmonOfpRv11.zip
benu 1 Posted October 24, 2002 Battlesounds 1.1S. Maybe Dynamic Range sounds better (it sure got more sounds) but i don't like getting a "cheater warning" everytime i join a server. Haven't tried the Battlefield Insane Soundpack yet. D/L it, but didn't really have the time for a comparison...
Placebo 29 Posted October 24, 2002 I think this can be combined into the pinned addon thread, but not just yet, discuss what's the best sound addon in here and provide url's if you will then it can all be put together into one post in the other thread and this one closed I know most of you have but please provide info as to which Opf versions which sound addon is for and whether or not it kicks up the "cheat message"
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted October 24, 2002 it is the sound of the Leopard from the BW-Mod. That tank in full speed makes my subwoover grow in size! Â But besides that it is Battlesound 1.0!

Best of all I haven't modified the config files so I can play online with absolutely no trouble at all.  Man you guys should hear my Black Hawk engine sound, personally recorded on an air show a year ago which came out far better and clearer than I ever thought possible, not to  mention the M16 which is just like the one in Black Hawk down. I tried soundpacks that other made but I was never that happy with them.  Many rifles/sounds have inconsistent atmospheric echo.  Some of them sound like they were shot outside, others sound like they were shot in a room, some are much louder than others, etc.  Having worked with sound and effects for a good part of my life I just couldn't settle for that, so I made my own. In any case, if anyone is interested in trying it out just unRAR and replace your Sound.pbo.  Works with Flashpoint and Resistance. DOWNLOAD HERE

My favourite soundmod is Dynamic Range, simply because it has multiple sounds for each event. I also use Goeth's Resistance weapon sounds and several sounds from Ash's realistic vehicles mod. Quite a mixture really.

advocatexxx 0 Posted October 25, 2002 Hmmm, after just having tested Battlesounds from the aforementioned URL I hit myself on the head as to why don't I release mines. Â It should be posted on ofp.gamezone.cz shortly. Â In the meantime here's a direct URL to the site: Advocate's Sound Mod ... and here are some sample sounds (recorded directly from game) - M21 Sniper Rifle 31.8KB - AK74 Firing Burst 14.0KB - BMP-1 Firing (plus distant explosion) 52.6KB - Black Hawk fly-by (STEREO) 174KB - Storm 148KB After over 6 months of sound-editing and updating I have a pre-release version of "Advocate's Sound Mod" ready. Â Over 80% of Flashpoint's sounds have been changed, including (but no limited to) almost all weapons, many vehicles, explosions, most of environment and countless others. Â Final version will be release in a couple of weeks. Â This pre-release is to gain suggestions/comments from the community. Â No configuration files have been changed so that multiplayer gaming will not be affected.

Chronicles 0 Posted October 25, 2002 Advocatexxx , i tested your pre-release sound pack, and i must say that i like your sounds a lot . The breath sound is better , M16/XM and AK serie have very good sounds now for my taste. The machineguns have good choice of sound but i think it could be better if you increase this sound level up , actually the M16 make more noise than the M60 , it seems very strange ingame. Grenades/mortar make a good noise i prefer this than the OFP one I dont the vulcan/shilka/30mm canon noise too , but that is a personnal taste , it sounds real . The rockets from RPG and LAW now does an excellent wishhhhhhh noise in their launch , that is a keeper. I heard better explosions from those rockets, it is not a bad one you have , but it can be better in my opinion. The new UH60 sound is awesome , in one of my mission, a blackhawk fly above my squad, wow thats is a great sound. I dont know if it is justme , but i cant hear my footsteps (some sound pack have this problems, others not) in some surface. I hope you will finish your sound pack and modify the 20% sounds left and increase a little the sound level of infantry machineguns , it is really a good sound pack you have made
Andrew B 0 Posted October 25, 2002 Hey, I got the 1.85 DynamicRange config.bin, but it doesn't seem to work. All of the sounds are just the originals. Maybe I'm using the wrong DynamicRange.pbo? Battlesounds 1.1s works great though.
munger 25 Posted October 25, 2002 Andrew B, there is only one version of the Dynamic Range pbo. Make sure it is in the addons folder of either OFP (if you are using the original OFP game) or the addons folder of Resistance. Also make sure that you replace the correct config.bin file - for OFP replace file in the OFP/BIN directory and for Resistance replace the file in the OFP/Res/Bin directory. I also increased their volume which I have soon thereafter realized was not a good idea. OFP v.1.46 still makes footsteps be heard from a far-away distance while 1.75+ Resistance fixes this problem. I haven't tested them sufficiently with 1.46 but rather 1.75 and thus I wasn't aware of that. Final release of this mod will have decreased volume on the footsteps though. erfworm 0 Posted October 25, 2002 Advocate you have got some real good sounds and some bad ones. The really bad thing I noticed is that the rockets sound like fireworks when you shoot them, now I dont know if this is real but I remember seeing a soldier shooting a rocket and it never had the screech in it. Do you mind editing that part out? It is also in some other sounds. I do like the machine guns on the aircraft however, I had an Apache doing a CAS mission, it scouted ahead and zzzzzzzzzzzz to my amazment the Apache engaged enemy troops. I just love the buzzing sound it makes, good work on that. If you could however remove the fireworks screech that would be much appreciated. Thanks

Believe it or not the source of that sound was recorded from a real life M136 Vulcan Air Defense System
syco 0 Posted October 26, 2002 I've settled with Amon's sounds. Great M16 sound and the M21 is excellent not to mention the other weapons. I just downloaded Advocate's sound file and I didn't like it. Needs more work.
