No, he was ridding his horse like the rich Hollywood type he was and fell off and broke his spine (or something).  Now he's a quadri and does charity work so we can help pay for research so he (and others like him) can walk again.

It's on Christopher Reeve's personal website so I would imagine it's true, either way what do you have to lose other than giving up a minute of your time to do something nice?

I don't think it was a blanket ban, I think President Bush just cut Federal funding from it. If you want to do stem cell research, fine, you just can't use taxpayer money.

Actually, California has made the decision to buck the White House and approve research on stem cells.
