Sweet markers system v.2.1

  • Client-server logic has been rewritten, and the addon is now working faster.
  • Versions for Arma 2 and Arma 3 with the same functionality. (CBA:CO required for ArmA 2 version).
  • Compatible with ACE/AGM/etc except the several hotkeys on map. (If you have any trouble like black lines, just delete the Maptools pbo)
  • Logging system: now you'll always know who was drawing markers on your map.
  • Ability to draw ellipses. (2000 m. in radius max).
  • Ability to change line thickness. (100 m. max).
  • Ability to change marker position after drawing.
  • Only marker's owner is able to change direction and position of the marker.
  • Vanilla flags, ranks and location markers have been removed from the list of available markers. (Only A3).
  • Ability to place marker on the nearest road.
  • In order to function properly, the addon needs to be present both on the server and on all clients.

New hotkeys:

  • Shift + Alt + hold LMB â€” draw ellipse.
  • Ctrl + Alt + hold LMB â€” draw lines (Thickness: Ctrl -, Alt +).
  • Shift + Ctrl - put marker on the nearest road.

This system fully changes the BIS's marker system.

Features:

1) Simple and easy-to-use interface, which is also fully customizable.
2) All changes are saved in your profile.
3) All interface elements are clickable and have hotkeys if needed.
4) Easy change of type, colour, direction, size and channel of the marker.
5) Ability to quickly place markers without opening/closing interface.
6) Ability to save markers placed on the map and load them in other missions.
7) Ability to enable/disable some functions of this add-on in map maker settings.
8) English and Russian languages.
9) Tested with more than 175 players on Weekly Open Games.

Hotkeys:
Arrows Up-Down - change marker icon
Shift + Arrows Up-Down - change marker color
Shift + Arrows Left-Right - change channel
Shift + mouse wheel - change markers size
Ctrl + N, G or T - select text mode
Ctrl + Enter - place marker without closing display
Ctrl + Click on map - quick marker placement
Alt on marker + hold LMB - change marker direction
Ctrl + Alt - draw the straight lines
Ctrl + Shift - set the waypoint for the route highlighting (WIP, use it on your own risk)
You can change marker settings by clicking on the neccessary color or the icon above. Doubleclick the main marker (icon) to show additional marker selection options.

Settings:
To change settings press "gear" icon
You can configure the marker slots in the main settings.
You can configure the interface parts and load the saved markers in advanced settings. This function is limited to squad leaders only by default. Loading limit: 750 markers at a time. Saving is available to all. Saving too many markers to you profile is unadvised (>1000) and can lead to glitches and crashes. In this cases, use the Fast Load option.

Great MOD :) Love it!

I've noticed a situation that seems to break it. Are there a timing issue with it?

I was playing DUWS on Altis with 10 zones in a 30 KM distance from HQ, all other settings default.

According to DUWS there were over 350+ units active.

FPS was running between 15 and 25, average probably around ~19.

I wanted to place a marker and the interface did show, but only the text field and settings button, not the icons nor colours nor show info.

When I pressed the settings button, nothing happened.

I should mention that the games own menus was also slow to react but they weren't unresponsive.

I noticed that changing the marker direction, it is off by a few degrees. It is not pointing directly at the point I clicked, rather it seems to be slightly off.

Would also like to know if this is clientside only or does it create dependancy.

Thats a shame. It would have been nice to allow this in a public server environment.

It would be possible to make this clientside + server only, without the requirement for all clients to have it,

You would have to remove the modules and have 2 options for creating markers

a) Global Channel via a createmarker call on the client that has the addon

b) Group/side/command/direct/vehicle via a publicvariable for a publicvariable eventhandler script that you remotely inject onto the clients from the server via an 'Init@ on a createunit called serverside. This script would then create the marker wherever and on who's machine you wanted it created on, without the requirement for the addon

Unfortunately this addon is now restricted to addon and clan servers only

Very nice work though addressing the marker creation system

Terox, In your method, how clients without the addon will remove markers? Also init requires more network traffic.

thats fine for ingame

but it would still be better whith some online wiki page covering the simple basics (dont always want to start the game when my lazy people dont understand what they need to do ...)

Absolutely Fantastic Mod. i had such a moment when i found out this wasn't a hoax... This is how BIS should have made the marking system. Great work!

great addon

its a evolution over the basic marker

suggestion:

- changable interval of the continous markerplacing (each X kilometer)

keep your work up
