ASCZ A2 Community Map Fixes (for AIA TP/SA)

Recommended Posts

First off this will be the last post in this thread by me. I did not call you all children. If you read the threads containing my post you would see I meant to say "acting like children" which i feel coming in cursing at everyone and everything pretty much warrants that response. I also happened to apologize for the wrong phrasing but I guess you missed that one too.

Also there's a big difference in calling someone a child and telling him F&$k-off and eat s&&t.

Either way. Evro didn't know what that he was doing anything wrong he was asked to stop. He did. That's commendable. The problem is people don't know and most don't care about author rights.

thank god its going to be your last post here... because you still seem to miss the fact that EVRO didn't do ANYTHING wrong... the fact that you think he did is indicative if your limitation to grasp what has happened... EVRO made a separate config not a port, perfectly legit... to demand he remove this is inexcusable... and to condone this behavior is childish... see what i did there... The fact that EVRO has obliged is simply a testament to his honor as a person... But He again had done NOTHING WRONG... this is all about CWR team pulling their heads out their asses just enough to realize someone is having fun with their maps in arma 3 (with fewer errors and nice preview pic), And had to try to shut it down... as stated before ill archive for future use bye me as i see fit.. CWR Maps here i come.. in arma 3 of course

Lordprimate, he didn't ask for permission before releasing it, which is something that this community considers common courtesy, regardless of what their license says.

I guess to fix lighting problems and problems with the grass, apart from adding photos to the map selection.

@Jakerod Well, AiA ensures backward compatibility to CWR2 terrains and my additional config (code is shown here) did only added few additions. Like satellite pictures in screen selection, A3 menu intros and grass, adding CWR team as author and few lines to fix onscreen errors and crashes which could occur in Arma 3 and that was all.

To end this matter I want to set the record straight. I wouldn't ever assumed that this little config could start such flame here. I started doing these configs as additions for AIA TP, so everyone could enjoy their favourite maps in Arma 3 (which is AiA already doing) with some further nice additions like satellite pictures.

I have didn't asked, because I never assumed that I'm doing something wrong. I only did additions for something which AiA already do, backward compatibility. I don't even know now, if I want to continue with this little mod. I wanted to do satellite pictures and other small additions for most of Arma 2 maps which are can be used with All In Arma in Arma 3, but then I came to this matter. Before some one blame me that after removing CWR2 terrains I did it again and added OFP islands by Hotzenplotz without asking. I did ask and he has no problems with it.

I don't know how can you even compare this to DayZ in Arma 3 matter. The difference is that someone took Dean's work, redistributed it and created servers with DayZ mod for Arma 3. And Again, I have not re-distributed CWR2, I have not ported CWR2, I have not edited CWR2. I only pointed out that also CWR2 is backward compatible with All In Arma, made config with some additions to make it perfect and told people where to officialy get CWR2 and how to use it in Arma 3. I never assumed that CWR team forbid use of their mod in Arma 3 and for that I'm sorry.

People accused me here for porting some one work without permission, even accused me of redistributing it or marketing it in my own project. People started arguing here, attacking each other with insults and I am not happy about it.

I am truly sorry that I wronged CWR team somehow and please accept my apology. But next time please declare straight in your terms that you don't want anyone to use your content in Arma 3 in any form, so no one could misinterpreted the message.

Having read most of the thread, I just want to say I use the map fixes as provided in the mod in whatever is the current version and really appreciate the work you do Evro.

Thanks again!

Yep, probably better to get back on topic and be done with this sad story...

No matter how wrong are the CWR2 views on this, Evro did comply - no need to argue on this matter anymore.

Thanks. I don't have AiA so I wasn't sure how well they worked.

I don't know if there is any demand for them, but if you would like you could make configs for my non-CWR2 terrains; Moschnyi, Zernovo, and Miroslavl' (make sure Miroslavl' is mine because there are two). I don't mind my personal terrains being in A3 but since the CWR2 terrains I worked on were a team effort I can't give permission for those. Thank you for respecting the request for the CWR2 terrains to not be placed A3. We have a tremendous amount of respect for you to set aside your work to honor the wishes of CWR2. Thanks again.

EVRO, dont let this issue get you down, MAN... Keep doing what you do... CWR team pulled a dick move and thats the bottom line.. You do what you want to do.. And well all love you for it... CWR team can take their maps and shove them straight up their..... The people that accused you of wrong doing are simply ignorant to the facts of the matter... Therefore, they have NO bearing on the issue...

Keep doing what you do EVRO!!! We thank you for it....

Agreed! Good work keep it up!

Sorry about the following offtopic comments EvroMalarkey but people who don't understand that author's have rights to their work, as well as people who insult me or my friends, upset me.

It's our work and thus we get to decide what to do with it and therefore we do have a bearing on the matter. It's called author's rights. He altered work by removing errors and adding features without asking for permission which is wrong by this community's, and most other communities', definition. I understand that in this case it was accidental and that it is a bit of a grey area in this situation given the nature of the issue but it was still, at the very least, an accidental violation of author's rights. That being said, he also did the right thing by removing his work when asked and we are grateful that he respected our rights.

CWR team can take their maps and shove them straight up their.....

Yes, we can because it's our work and we can do with it what we want within the limitations that we agreed to with other parties. So yeah we can do that. Technically anyone can because I am fairly certain we didn't include a clause about that in the EULA.

Thank you again Malarkey for removing the configs and sorry about going offtopic. I will try to refrain in the future if everyone here is clear on author's rights issues. If anyone here is still unclear about the matter feel free to PM me instead of talking about here and/or insulting CWR2. Keep up the good work!

A bunch of nonsense

Do I really need to repeat myself? It's not your right, you can ask evro to remove it ( and he did ), so be grateful that he did, he didn't have to.

If you keep up this in your face attitude of pretending you can control what users do with their mods, which is exactly what this boils down to, then someone might reintroduce the changes evro made just to piss you off, and I'd completely understand that.

I don't pretend to control what you guys do. It's a matter of how others should treat the work of others. I can't stop you from doing anything since I have no legal grounds for doing so. The point is that you should respect the work of others and ask permission before editing it and if you don't get permission then you shouldn't edit it. I'm done now. I'm not going to derail this again. Sorry again Evro.

Sort of on topic :

Guys, is there no other place than PW6 to download Namalsk_lite?

PW6 won't install the files since it requires Arma2 - wich I uninstalled recently...

I tried with this version, but I can't even get it to show up in the menus; it's kinda driving me crazy...

I'm in desperate need of A2 maps, they run so much better on my old machine ^^'.

EDIT : Nevermind - I wasn't installing it properly...

Two post before you were talking about "violation of author's rights" and now it's just what people "should" do !!??

That just proved you know Cephel is right (this situation already occured for a mod on this forum and I saw how BiS reacted) and nobody should have jumped at Evro's throat, especially as none did it when A3MP or AiA were released, enabling the use of CWR2 maps in A3.

@Evro: thanks again for your work an A3. You're making this game a more pleasant one !

serjames is right, please stop it already. It was sorted, we already know each other different opinions on this matter, don't start this all over again.

Did you solve it? @namalsk_lite is basically @namalsk without few pbos.

Needed pbos only for island should be:

namalsk.pbo

ns.pbo

ns_plants.pbo

ns_rocks.pbo

ns_sounds.pbo

ns2.pbo

Anyway I will continue with this mod, will do new configs for another maps. I would like to ask permission from most authors, but it could be kind of hard task reach out some of them. So instead I will declare that upon author request I will immediately delete the config and map from the list. By the way my work should be at some point integrated into AiA itself, we talked about it with kju and it can happen.

Collection all in one was updated with new maps:

Finally - I was wondering when it was going to be included as part of AiA core - totally makes sense.

ARMA 3 is basically 95% there for us now, AGM gets us close to ACE features and your mod in conjunction with AiA brings all the map loving we need.

All we need now is CUP and we can really go to town !

Bravo !

Oh and PONDS !!!!

Yep, problem solved : I simply forgot to create an "addons" folder inside my mod folder... Silly me. ^^'

Anyway, thanks man!

If you have trouble contacting authors try looking here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?113376-ATTN-Addon-Makers-Rules-of-content-permissions

I was asked to add this to help clarify where many addon makers stand: Addon Makers for Author's Rights (Don't discuss it here)
