DGeorge85 10 Posted December 15, 2014 With the 3.0 update, I'm guessing we should probably go back to the original trixie_recon.pbo and use the optional file instead? And if we do, are there any small tweaks between the two or should we expect any profiles we made for the Trixie rifles using your modified pbo to match up with the upcoming optional pbo?
ruthberg 7 Posted December 15, 2014 Yes, you can now use the official trixie_recon.pbo. And you can stick with your existing ATragMX profiles.

DGeorge85 10 Posted December 15, 2014 Yes, you can now use the official trixie_recon.pbo. And you can stick with your existing ATragMX profiles. Sweet. I'm looking forward to getting a profile going for the new MXM rounds. I never even use it, but lately I've been having more fun target shooting and making profiles. I wish I would have known you were coming out with an update today. I would have suggested adding turret clicks to the Leupy Mark 4 ER/T. I think it's in the FHQ accessory pack. More the merrier. DGeorge85 10 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) After some messing around I came up with a BC in the ATrag of 0.53 for the Scenars, 300m zero, then adjusted BC until the drop was correct at 700m...not bad. They are coming out at about 780m/s @ 24C which seems a little slow for 6.5x47mm, doesn't it? Edit: Also, either these things cut wind like no other or something is amiss because 1.5 m/s crosswind from 3 o'clock has absolutely no effect at 700m. TiborasaurusRex 11 Posted December 16, 2014 @Ruthberg: Congrats on the new release!!! Day by day this mod is getting more badass! Thank you so much for everything :') Here's a lil gift from me, the Ballistics Table of the brand new 6.5x47mm Lapua Scenar ;) As always, please put it on the first page :) Could you clarify the parameters of the 300 WM's so i could create their tables as well? @Spartan: Let's do some gift swap too :bounce3: Here i give you my Projectile Database and you gimme yours :xmas_o: @George: Yes, sometimes AB's BC is not that accurate so you need to adjust the BC in the Atrag until the drop is correct. You can do it the old school way, shoot some target at certain range until the drop matches. If the bullet hits low, you gotta lower the BC. If the target hits high, you gotta higher the BC. But it's gonna get you hectic and wasting lotta rounds lol unless you have a ballistics solver that has ballistics calibration tool (Trajectory Truing). With Truing tool, you just need to fire 3-shot group, input the actual drop into the solver and let the tool true the trajectory and come up with the correct drop My solvers got that Truing tool and i'm intending to use it to get the precise BC of all AB projectiles. So far, i've come up with these corrected BC's: BC of 0.788 (G1) for .338 LM BC of 0.755 (G1) for .416 B BC of 0.640 (G1) for M33 but this happens with previous versions, i haven't tested the latest release & the new rounds so further research is required... DGeorge85 10 Posted December 16, 2014 Yea, I've definitely been going at it the old school way, haha. It gives me a reason to load up the 360 course and send a bunch of lead down range. I've rather enjoyed making profiles in the ATrag lately. More than anything else surprisingly. Doing so in a way that requires firing a bunch of shots only lengthens the enjoyment. Luckily bullets are free in ArmA! :) Some bad news on my end though, and I'm not at all sure how, but todays update has removed the pistols from Massi's NATO/Russian pack from my arsenal. I first noticed it because I have the 1911 from that pack saved on every one of my loadouts. Disabling AB brings them back.
ruthberg 7 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) @TiborasaurusRex, I've updated the ammunition database: http://pastebin.com/zMTZ733z @DGeorge85, I'll look into the problem with Massi NATO pack. Edit: I found the issue. I will also add an optional massi nato pack cfg. They are coming out at about 780m/s @ 24C which seems a little slow for 6.5x47mm, doesn't it?It was kinda hard to find good muzzle velocity data for this round. I will change it if you can come up with a credible source that states higher muzzle velocities. Edited December 16, 2014 by Ruthberg
DGeorge85 10 Posted December 16, 2014 I originally made the comment because the standard 6.5x39 MX mags were about the same, but then again they are likely based on a lighter bullet. I just visited Lapua's website and the spec for their rounds using the 139gr is 820m/s, though their tested barrel length is 26". Maybe that helps though as I'm sure you've done enough of this to have an idea of what kind of FPS you could expect to loose per inch of barrel length. I'm not sure what the barrel length is on the MXM, but if it's something like 20", then the current velocity config is probably about right.
ruthberg 7 Posted December 16, 2014 That's how the config is currently looking like: class AB_65x47_Ball_Scenar: B_762x51_Ball { airFriction=-0.00078; typicalSpeed=820 ; AB_caliber=0.264; AB_bulletLength=1.364; AB_bulletMass=139; AB_ammoTempMuzzleVelocityShifts[]={-26.55, -25.47, -22.85, -20.12, -16.98, -12.80, -7.64, -1.53, 5.96, 15.17, 26.19}; AB_ballisticCoefficients[]={0.290}; AB_velocityBoundaries[]={}; AB_standardAtmosphere="ICAO"; AB_dragModel=7; AB_muzzleVelocities[]={760, 790, 820, 830}; AB_barrelLengths[]={16, 20, 24, 26}; }; The barrel of the MXM is 18 inches long. DGeorge85 10 Posted December 16, 2014 OK yea, so with an 18" barrel I'd say 780m/s is definitely within reason. I'll admit I don't know jack about the smaller 6.5mm cartridges. Most of the 6.5mm numbers I've looked at in the past were for 6.5 Creed and .260 Rem.
ruthberg 7 Posted December 16, 2014 Version 3.1 Changelog: -Fixed conflict with NATO SF and Russian Spetsnaz Weapons pack -Added optional PBO "advancedballistics_optional_nato_russian_sf_cfg": Adds new magazines and adjusts several ammo classes You can find the new magazines in Massi's ammo box (classname: "Box_mas_all_rifle_Wps_F"). ---------- Post added at 14:46 ---------- Previous post was at 14:38 ---------- I wish I would have known you were coming out with an update today. I would have suggested adding turret clicks to the Leupy Mark 4 ER/T. I think it's in the FHQ accessory pack. More the merrier.AB currently adds the mil turret system to every scope with opticType=2. There is no black-/whitelist with scope class names.

Brisse 78 Posted December 16, 2014 but then again they are likely based on a lighter bullet All the vanilla 6.5's are based on the ballistics of the 6.5 Grendel. There's a comment in the config files confirming that.

Now that is a very impressive ballistics table, good god man. Sadly however I was not able to locate the M80A1 EPR for 7.62x51mm NATO as the bullet is an ATK/Federal proprietary round, getting data for this bullet is next to impossible without access to the US Army AKO database, which hopefully my friend will find his AKO credentials and let me know. I know for a FACT that the documentation on the M80A1 EPR is a category level A for active service and its UNCLASSIFIED limited general distribution, I should be meeting these requirements. TiborasaurusRex 11 Posted December 17, 2014 @TiborasaurusRex, I've updated the ammunition database: http://pastebin.com/zMTZ733z So here you go, the ballistics tables of your .300 WM's (MK248 mod 0, MK248 mod 1, and .300 WM Berger Hybrid OTM) As always, please make them to the front page :bounce3: I converted their G7 BC's to G1 using JBM Drag Function Conversion  God bless JBM! :D getting data for this bullet is next to impossible without access to the US Army AKO database, which hopefully my friend will find his AKO credentials and let me know. I know for a FACT that the documentation on the M80A1 EPR is a category level A for active service and its UNCLASSIFIED limited general distribution, I should be meeting these requirements. OMG that's really cool, bro! We could use your friend as our informant to get all the data of US Army projectiles Please keep us informed about this ;)

gibonez 18 Posted December 19, 2014 -- More or less planned features ---* More advanced sight adjustment system for vehicle mounted weapons (M2, ...) Just saw that and got excited. This is where I see this mod really making gameplay spectacular. I can only imagine how challenging but fun it must be in game to use vehicle mounted and crew served weapons set in current times with the ballistics from this mod taking effect. Having to use the T&E to carefully dial in a dope and suppressing a patrol 2km away with an m2 or a dshk.

He used a M2 .50 Cal Browning machine gun mounting a telescopic sight and killed a VC at 2000 m it'd be very cool if we could mount a sniper scope on M2 .50 BMG like Carlos Hathcock did :) http://www.gunslot.com/files/gunslot/images/52769.jpg (150 kB) Edited December 19, 2014 by TiborasaurusRex
Von Quest 1163 Posted December 19, 2014 @Rex Very Cool! Just started watching your Sniper 101 on YouTube. Wow. Detailed! FYI made a Carlos "White Feather" BooineHat in my Mod. Read a book about him last year. @Ruthberg Anyways, amazing work! Keep it up!!
gibonez 18 Posted December 20, 2014 snip Pretty awesome. Great pictures by the way there is just something about tripod based heavy machineguns that just screams awesome. I could only imagine how much carnage and destruction one of these could cause to say a convoy .
