LykosMactire 298 Posted July 31, 2014 OOk i had to ask this, with the odst Visors, what would you perfer, solid and shiny, or like the combat goggles where its shiny but you can see the face
thedog88 4 Posted July 31, 2014 im thinking where you can slightly see the face, no?
captainfatback 10 Posted July 31, 2014 im thinking where you can slightly see the face, no? so something like this but a little more tinted? http://i.imgur.com/g0ccTbw.jpg
LykosMactire 298 Posted July 31, 2014 Yea i was talking to atin, and he wanted them non-seethrough. just shiny, i wanted them like the combat goggles you can put on your unit in some ways
SteveJA 12 Posted July 31, 2014 I suppose an option for both would be best, tint for day ops, clear for low light/nights. If only there was a way to imploment reactive visors.
LykosMactire 298 Posted July 31, 2014 I suppose an option for both would be best, tint for day ops, clear for low light/nights. If only there was a way to imploment reactive visors. well you cant really see the reflection at night time so its kinda like that
thedog88 4 Posted July 31, 2014 im just going to assume that the makers of odst made the visors non see through to make the models simpler/quicker. in the live actions you can slightly see through and they didnt really mirror much, which in a combat operation is actually fairly vital. picture this... enemy1: "hey wtf is that shiney refelction over there on that hill?" enemy2: "i dont know fred, check it out with your high power sniper rifle" enemy1: "okay..." *checks through his scope* *scans* *fires a shot* enemy2: "what was it fred?" enemy1: "nothing... nothing anymore bob..." and thats why shiney is bad children :P
scorch_052 127 Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) Well everyone else is posting their work, so I guess I will too. Thedog sent me the ODST uniform so that I could tweak it and configure it (I've also added a placeholder material file). Here's what I've gotten in-game: Oh, and for those asking about the visor and whether to have polarized or depolarized, why not both? I've also set up more hiddenselections than anyone would ever reasonably need for maximum customization. Current asset list is as follows: -4 ODST Uniforms (Standard, Left and Right Shouldered, and Shoulderless Recon) -1 Vest -3 Backpacks (I hope to add TFAR support to the manpack radio a little later down the line) -6 Helmet variants (7 including rangefinder/sniper variant) So, as you can see, we're making very good progress. thedog88 4 Posted July 31, 2014 i'm a firm believer in keeping your target audience updated throughout the development process. this ensures to keep the hype alive which in turn motivates the dev team to progress aggressively. even the smallest update will keep the crowd roaring. i also strongly believe that if more mod's would follow suit there would be a better success rate in attempted mods. speaking to the team we've decided to follow suite in BI's development model and release alpha, beta, and full game keeping the community involved in the progress. thats all i'm going to say for now as i dont just yet want to spoil things :) on a sidenote i would like to thank the dev team publicly. the effort put into this has been immense and i feel extremely lucky to have these guys on board. i cant thank them enough! LykosMactire 298 Posted July 31, 2014 Rewording thedogs words (in a good way) Hes a firm believer in the audience having enough pairs of underwear (or pants if they are commandos) that they will keep an eye on this progress

scorch_052 127 Posted July 31, 2014 Didnt think we were done yet did you? http://i.imgur.com/GbVnPQc.png (646 kB) http://i.imgur.com/h6AwevM.png (697 kB) http://i.imgur.com/UHyDLY6.png (671 kB) http://i.imgur.com/9mNPJDm.png (418 kB) Now with support for squad logos, unit insignias, and custom chest emblems. Mix these with the abundant amount of hiddenselections, uniform and helmet options, and different vest types, and you've got more customization options than you can shake a stick at. LykosMactire 298 Posted July 31, 2014 since i was drafted and have not been given anything to work on yet, do y'all think its a good idea to make special unit textures dedicated to members of the team (kinda like campaign characters?)
Flemdot Jr 10 Posted July 31, 2014 Will you do it so that we cant see the ODST's neck?

I'm actually already working on that atm. Add me on steam and we can find you something to do. :) hi allCould it be possible that the armor have a higher protection value than usual ? Yes. Armor values are planned to be about twice as high as vanilla vests. Will you do it so that we cant see the ODST's neck? Not planning on it. In the actual game you can see their neck, as the helmet is a separate piece. (Which is interesting considering the ODST suit supposedly doubles as a pressure suit). I will consider covering more of the neck, though. Refer to the above image for confirmation (Taken from Halo 3: ODST) Edited August 1, 2014 by Scorch_052
