A proposal to suspend veto rights in the event of grave crimes against humanity that mandate urgent reaction, pitched in 2013 by France, was revived at a high-profile discussion at the assembly.

If they want to kick out russia for crimes against humanity, why haven't they kicked the US and A out of there a long time ago then?

Oh right, because they only fight "terrorists" and never supply any weapons to anybody. NOT

Because the USA is not on the brink of starting WW3. If they would go through with this they would also have to kick out China long before the USA.

Anyway there's no way Russia will lose their veto right at the security council, and to be honest, i think it's a good thing.

Justified critics against Russia exist, but by all means this should not lead to a pure anti-russian view and there should be no option to kick out members from the community of nations that easily. The UN is very important, of course the veto right of the 5 main members sounds not fair since everyone of them can block decisions but it is one of the important feautures that powerful nations simply cant always enforce their interests. There are of course exceptions countries who ignore UN resolutions and some critics exist against the UN, but overall it is important the this kind of political structure stays.

The second and third video are from the same place, but at different times of day.

Russia is also taking steps to block Facebook, Google and Twitter

Echo of Moscow - Facebook, Twitter and Google: Mechanics of shutdown [Google Translate]

It was planned that they will be locked in the second half 2016, but this week deputany urgently changed their minds and adopted the amendments on which switch-off date is transferred to the January 1, 2015. But Roscomnadzor is in hurry to create conditions more quickly.

Breaking technique - dvuhhodovki. First a clearly impracticable requirement to foreign services is presented to transfer all user data on the site under the control of the FSB, and then they are cut off for non-compliance. Or rather, we get cut off from them.

Well I fear that in a few years Russia will have it´s own closed off internet....

If it happens it's gonna be because the majority of the Russian people allow it.

And by that time it'll have half of its brains out of country. It's just a matter of time before Putin's Russia will collapse.

(OSCE) Latest from OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to Ukraine based on information received as of 18:00 (Kyiv time), 23 September 2014

The SMM proceeded to the scene and saw in the coal mine two areas located fifty metres apart, each containing two human bodies.
Near the road on the edge of the village, the SMM observed a pile of earth resembling a grave which had a stick with a plaque, written in Russian and containing the names (or in one case – initials) of five individuals.
Neither in the coal mine nor in the village did the SMM see any forensic experts. COMMENT: The SMM cannot provide a forensic assessment of the sites.

(Bellingcat) Geolocating the MH17 Buk Convoy in Russia

Over the last few weeks Bellingcat has been examining footage of a Buk missile launcher filmed inside Russia that matches the Buk missile launcher linked to the down of MH17. The movements of the Buk launcher unit linked to the downing of MH17 were previously examined on Bellingcat, and the reporting relied on several videos of a convoy moving through Belgorod oblast in Russia. Further analysis of the videos yields information which can be used to accurately locate where the videos were filmed.

( Al Jazeera ) Ukrainian troops killed by rebel shelling

Shelling has killed at least seven Ukrainian soldiers in the rebel stronghold of Donetsk, in the worst reported bout of violence since a ceasefire between separatist rebels and Ukrainian troops began on September 5.

Security officials said on Monday that the troops were killed when a rebel shell hit their armoured personnel carrier late on Sunday near the main airport at Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.

It seems the rebels are still trying to get the airport under their control.
