Iron Front as mod in Arma 3

Recommended Posts

Ah, yes! I understand now, but I am still having the problem that I had in PW6. The patch for arma 2 starts with "Error found in file @IF\ADDONS\if_mpmissions.pbo" then is followed by countless errors.

@ iKeaster

This indicates you are using the wrong patch.

Which one did you try to apply and what did you do before that?

Did you have Iron Front in Arma set up before?

And my problem is when i launch the game there is a warning pops-up? This is the warning: Addon 'AiA_Characters_IF_Clothing_LIB_GER_Infantry' requires addon 'LIB_core'

LIB_core is a pbo in the @IF mod folder, its basically one of the files in Iron front.

If you have @IF in your Arma3 directory, go into that folder and then into the addons folder and look for LIB_core.pbo, if its there, then i think somehow your missing @IF

when you launch the game, somehow @IF is not starting. Question is how are you starting the game, through PW6, or are you using the

Launch Iron Front in Arma 3 - Automated.bat

file?

I have the lite version set up and I do believe I'm using the up to date/right patches, mind filling me in on which patches I should use for full iron front +DLC in arma 3?

is there a way to tell which dlc patch you have?

edit: I also thought it would be cool if you could randomize the Russian helmets so some of the riflemen have steel ones.

@ Flemdot Jr

No worries. The DLC sadly has no internal version. Something we are to add in the future.

For now you can create a hashlist from the @LIB_DLC_1 folder (with the pbos) and upload it.

@ iKeaster

The lite version is always the latest version and has not patches (only the sound hotfix you need to get when you are not using PWS).

Check the wiki on patching the full version.

in that folder (@LIB_DLC_1) there weren't any pbo

@ Flemdot Jr

It means the DLC has not been converted for some reason.

Best rename the @IF folder in Iron Front, rerun the conversion tool, and rename the folder back to @IF.

Your DLC is unpatched Steam (1.0). See the wiki for patching info.

Can someone please make a video on how to do the manual install? I keep breaking my game, literally breaking it. I think a lot of people would greatly appreciate it.

I would really love if someone did this. I'm struggling to get the full IF in arma 3.

@mtheld0414 and iKeaster - I don't know how to make a video of it but I struggled getting it all to work as well. It is great now that it is working though! Where are you confused and I will try to help?

Murrs84 Im not sure where to even begin with how much help I need lol. First time I tried, I somehow completely removed all of my Arma 3 files. Poof. Gone. Second time I tried I thought I did it correctly ( Had a bunch of new files in my Arma 3 folder, after following all the steps) but every time I launched the game 10-15 error msgs would pop up. I now think I'm not using the conversion tool correctly. Can you explain exactly what I''m suppose to do here in the most idiot proof way possible? I understand it's a really simple tool, but I have no idea how to "change a path" or what that means. I've always just used playwithsix. Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same problem you had Murrs, except after trying the fixes it still did not work.

@mtheld0414 so far as the conversion tool goes, when you start it up a window will pop up. Completely ignore that whole part on the left talking about generating an argument. For your purposes you do not need it. For IronFront location you want to make sure that it is finding your IronFront install folder. The place where you had your computer install the game. Whether that is on your C:\ or D:\ or whatever drive plus the exact folder of the install. In my case I installed it through steam onto my D:\ drive so for me IronFront location is D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IronFront however if you do not use steam or have it installed on a different drive yours will be different. Make sure to find your install location and make sure it is correct in the conversion tool. Now the part you will have to change is for your Arma 2 location and Arma 2 OA location. In this instance it does not matter where those games are installed, what you need to do is set both of those paths to your Arma 3 game folder. So just like with your IronFront path, you will need to find out exactly what path and where you have Arma 3 installed. For me it is D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Arma 3 once again your path will most likely be different dependent on which drive you use for games and whether or not you have steam. Bottom line is you want to make sure that both Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA location is actually set to your Arma 3 folder. That way all the necessary files are converted from your IronFront folder into your Arma 3 one. So far as the temp folder is concerned you really don't have to worry bout it. The converter just creates a temp folder in order to aid in transferring the files so I would just leave it wherever it has as default. Once you have all the paths set correctly hit Create IF Arma and let the tool run. You do not ever start the mod with the start mod button on there, you start the mod using the automatic bat file in the downloads after you have ran the patches on the downloads section. Once you convert the folders with the converter you are done with it. Also if you were having an issue with files missing etc I would strongly suggest you completely delete Arma 3, IronFront, Arma 2, and Arma 2 OA and do a fresh install to make sure you aren't missing any files. Be sure to delete the existing folders etc. As a side note, if you are having difficulty patching IronFront, Arma 3, Arma 2 OA to their necessary patches before this whole process (as the install directions tell you) Then you might consider getting steam if you don't already have it. It is free and you can link your games that you already own to it for free, and it will automatically patch and update all of your games. Plus it makes it much easier to know where all your games are installed. Anyways hope that helps and isn't too confusing. If you need more help just ask and try to explain exactly what your having trouble with so I can try to assist.

@iKeaster which problem that I had? As I had many LOL... are you talking about a converter problem or problem with the patches? And which fixes did you try that did not work? How did you do the fixes exactly?

Thats really weird, because that's what I did the first time. I must have screwed something up. I've followed all the steps, and im using the batch launcher. The game loads everything it's suppose to load I think, but when I try to enter the editor the game crashes and I get a error msg "include file ca\editor\data\scripts\dikCodes.h not found "

Finally figured it out, I must have missed the second patch for AIA. Got everything working except the sound. I think I saw a hotfix for it somewhere, but thank you for your help Murrs84, I really appreciate it.

@mtheld0414 No problem glad you figured it out and yes to fix the sound make sure you download the hotfix files off of the megamirror. The link to it is available here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?180218-Iron-Front-Liberation-1944-community-patches-(Arma-version-only .... just follow the link for the mega mirror community patches and the hotfix files for the sound are available there as well. The instructions for where to place each of those 3 files is posted by Kju in an earlier post on this thread can't remember exactly where but it shouldn't be too far back. If I can help with anything else just let me know!
