fons 10 Posted February 3, 2015 Hi nkey, first of all, thank you for this awesome mod. I have a suggestion that thought a few days ago. our team has been using tfar since practically the release, and i thought a few days ago that some enviromental sounds in the transmisions would be awesome and it would give a lot of realism. Let me explain, if a pilot of an Apache transmits something, the receiver would hear a small percentage of the heli indoor sound volume in the background of the transmission. If you are infantry transmitting, the transmission would have a samall percentage of the enviromental actual sound volume. I think that this would give tfar an insane amount of added realism, have you previously considered this? Would this be complicated to implement?
nkey 35 Posted February 3, 2015 Anyone got a ideo how to setup Battleeye with TFAR ? lapinaur 10 Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Strange thing.... You could try to play with Windows audio settings... Have you done any configuration changes since it was working? Everything happened after installing a Nvidia gtx 980. I've tried a clean unistall with (not sure how it's writen in the english version) "reboot in safe mode" and reinstalled latest drivers. The same was done with my audio card. I've tried multiple different settings in the sound blaster surround control panel. I've also tried to uninstall TFAR with playwithsix and manually. Reinstalled with PW6 and manually. Tried to downgrade TFAR to 9.7 and TS3 to 3.0.14. Reinstalled the 32, then 64bit version of TS3. The only things i didn't try yet are : reinstall windows and/or reinstall old graphic card. I'm really lazy about that part... considering that 5.1 works perfectly. just that TFAR isn't spatialized anymore. PS: When i open the "setup 3d sound" on a TS3 channel, i can create a "test user" and make it play a train sound. If i make it rotate around my center position, i can ear the sound all around me (so TS plays the sound on all my 5.1 speakers). BUT... when i do the same trick on a real speaking guy on the chan, the sound is played to front-left to front-right (and center) correctly, and when the guy icon is going behind me (let's say back-left speaker), the sound is played on the front-left speaker but decreased (due to the stereo/mono nature of TFAR if i'm correct). The "train sound" of the test user is also a mono/stereo output, isn't it? The most important for me right now is to understand if this error "can't center client :invalid clientID" might be the cause of the surround probleme and how to fix it? (even if it won't fix the surround issue for now) Edited February 4, 2015 by lapinaur

lapinaur 10 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) Really strange thing.. Latest TFAR not uses TS spatial sound - it uses 3dparty library and always outputs 2 channels of stereo. Maybe TFAR don't works? Are radio communiations works well? Yes, radio works fine (even the left or right only - plays the sound to front-left and front-right speakers). Players sound fades away as they walk further. And.. about this "can't center client: invalid clientID", is it related to my surround issue? Could it work without this problem? And, by the way, you said "Latest TFAR not uses TS spatial sound - it uses 3dparty library". does it means that older version uses TS spatial sound? Is there a chance i could find one of these version so i could try it out and see if that solve a part of my problem ? :) Edited February 5, 2015 by lapinaur

Woodstock21 10 Posted February 7, 2015 Ok so My friends and I are currently renting a server from Game Servers and are running some mods on it and when ever we try to launch the server with our mod set and task force the server just doesn't want to load. nkey 35 Posted February 8, 2015 I've tried everything you suggested from the beggining. I'm sorry that you can't help me on this topic but it's understandable and i really don't blame you for that. loper 10 Posted February 8, 2015 Ok so My friends and I are currently renting a server from Game Servers and are running some mods on it and when ever we try to launch the server with our mod set and task force the server just doesn't want to load. It will get us to the background but we are unable to to type in "#login or '#missions" but this only seems to happen when we have task force running as a mod, once task force is not in the mod set for the config the server runs fine. I have removed parts of the RPT but tried to put in as much info as i could. Any help in this matter would be great its the last thing we want to work, and im bashing my head off the wall, cause task force works with just all in arma and a vanilla map. But with all the mods i can host a game just fine on my machine, but soon as its on our dedicated server it doesn'tServer RPT file ===================================================================== If that is in there when you're launching the server that could cause issues. Ya for some reason its just the formatting here, on the command line on the server there isn't a space. to Nfar ya i have tried with just CBA and TFAR as well as CBA TFAR and All in arma and it worked fine, I guess i will start the lengthly process of doing one at a time and see what happens
viper2511 28 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) @Woodstock21, there is also a space: '@rhs_afrus af;', is that also a format error? Edited February 8, 2015 by VIPeR2511 Deleted original post as already answered by Loper!
Woodstock21 10 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) @Woodstock21, there is also a space: '@rhs_afrus af;', is that also a format error? Yes for some reason the copy and paste is adding in spaces when i posted here i didn't notice them until after i posted this. Now that i have a little bit of time, im going to start excluded mods and see where it breaks. If anyone else has ides in the mean time please let me know, I shall keep you guys posted. and thanks for the help thus far. The main thing that concerns me is at the end of the RPT file about the netserver Destroy lines, i don't really understand what is happening there. at all UPDATE Just finished messing with the command line and the mods and i've gotten it to work mods needed to be loaded in a certain way i guess had to have the RHS and requirements loaded first before leights_opfor to get loaded. Just thought i'd update it incause others run into a similar issue. -mod=@cba_a3;@task_force_radio;@allinarmaterrainpack;@alive;@cse;@rhs_usf3;@rhs_afrf3;@rhs_afrusaf;@hlcmods_ak;@hlc_ar15;@asdg_jm;@hlcmods_m14;@hlcmods_core;@ASDG_JR;@leights_opfor; Edited February 8, 2015 by Woodstock21 added rpt concern
lapinaur 10 Posted February 8, 2015 Hm.... Have you tied to temporary totally disable 5.1 and switch to stereo? (in windows settings) Yes i have. Nothing happened. It still seems to be mono-ish sound from front.
galzohar 31 Posted February 8, 2015 Is it just me or do you guys have this too:If I walk (hold Shift) + PTT SW it's fine If I walk + PTT SW Additional channel, nothing happens. Can someone try and let me know? Regardless of TFR bugs, keep in mind that most keyboards will not register the 3rd key press of a 3-key combo for many key combos, especially ones that are not common in most WASD games. For a demonstration, try holding both shift buttons down while typing the alphabet. Also, walking is a great way to get killed - It's just fast enough to be easy to spot, slow enough to be easy to hit, and keeps you in the open for too long. If you want to move slow, spend more time searching for targets and resting after you reach cover. But otherwise just run! :)
bullhorn 18 Posted February 9, 2015 It's a bug, verified. I'm using a keyboard via PS/2 with N-rollover anyway, never had any issues with pressing 20 keys at the same time (Yes, I used my toes). I like walking when cresting a hill or when behind concealment so that sudden movement isn't perceived from a further distance. It also feels like there's a lot less sway when you walk vs. when you run but it might be placebo.
Gruman 123 Posted February 9, 2015 I have a quick question. I spend time in the copilot seat of a helicopter on a regular basis. In some 3rd party airframes it seems I can't access the onboard radio, while the pilot can. As an example, only the pilot of the CH-47D from RHS can access the radio, while on the AH-64D from RHS both can access the radio panel. According to this wiki entry there is no definition for each turret. How is the copilot seat detected? Thank you. Best regards
JamesTheClarke 40 Posted February 9, 2015 Hi TFAR team, First off, kudos on the great mod. My community has been using it for a bit over a year and we prefer its great functionality and easy to use interface / key mapping over the more clunky ACRE2. To us it's the best radio / communication mod out there. However, we do encounter one issue on a regular basis: The directional speech volume on "normal" is quite low and the transmission range drops off very fast over just a few meters. This leads to people switching to "yelling" permanently (audio levels for yelling-purposes are fine, perfect range and volume) whereas they transmit much further than they intent to, often ruining YT videos etc. Alternatively some people remain on "normal" but use the short range radios for less vital communications because they fear that "normal" won't ensure that their fireteam members heard it, while "yelling" could possibly disturb comms for the entire squad - this often leads to drop of quality in radio communications due to overuse. Would it be possible to increase the volume of "normal" speech a tiny bit as well as increase the transmission range by x1.5? I think ACRE2 hit a good sweet spot when it comes to their directional speech on "normal", maybe it could serve as a benchmark. I realise that part of this issue of course lies within each communities code of conduct on how to use the radio / directional speech. We could drill people really hard on only switching quickly to "yelling" and then switching back immediately to "normal". And for the most part that is what we advise, however due to us not being a full mil-sim community we try to strike a medium between strict training drills and friendly reminders / semi casual training. As long as "normal" speech transmission range remains within 5-10 meters it will remain very tempting to most people (especially newcomers / recruits) to either use the radio or perma-switch to "yelling". Hope this user feedback helps the mod developers. Kind regards
Sundowner 11 Posted February 9, 2015 1. I second what JamesClarke posted above, we also have problem with the free speech range, resulting in switching to yelling, or using comms all the time. 2. I just begun making missions, and I don't want the TFAR to drop backpacks of team leaders, for the radios - is there a way to block this functionality ? 3. In helicopters I have my hands on stick and throttle, I would gladly see ability to assign alternate keypress to functions, so I could assign controller button for functions, instead of resulting to specially made macros for my controllers (which I have to remember to switch on and off repeatedly).
