@up, no offense but those are way too small for ArmA looks like it would only carry a Vests worth of gear

Yap, it´s small. Usually its put over the Medium Rucksack. The Modular Assault Pack (MAP) is for H2O (2.5L) or various content (Radio, Personal Medkit, NVG, Optics, Laser Designator or that kind of stuff). The other stuff goes to the vest armor carrier.

It´s not for long range operation, more like for little bird deployments.

And it´s widely used.

The Navy SEAL use it, also manufactured by Eagles Industries, but label like Maritime Load Carriage System (MLCS) and Maritime Ballistic Survivor System (MBSS).

That is what that red marking was for! I have forgotten about it with all of the overhauling going on. Will surely work that in on some IOTV vests again. The Swedish forces still (as far as I know) always has the IFAK in a leg pocket so everyone will know where one can be found if needed. No rules about where it should be kept in the US Army?

I finally adjusted the m249 recoil also! It's much steadier now and not so over exaggerated. Remember someone here calling it drunk.

each company has its own regulations as to the way the vest is set up here stateside but once you go down range its all about what is comfortable for the soldier to use (makes sense in my opinion, one of the few things in the army that does lol)

Any ideas on doing a Airborne Division? Obviously later down the line, but I do think if anyone we're to do it, you could! It's too bad Rocket is too busy to port over his H.A.L.O units he was working on.

He oughta lend them to someone who can then :p

Here's what I am thinking. I will, hopefully with some help and a script, start with getting ranks displayed on IOTVs as a start. Not right now, but down the line. I do not have custom uniforms, so I am still very limited with what I can put on the sleeves. There will probably have to be only one kind of unit to begin with (like now), or without unit patches. Patches can however be made working right now on the sleeves, but in a cheap way of making them a part of the vest. Wich I don't really think is the best way, but might work temporary? I won't go into it right now, though.

I've also had the thought of removing my custom sounds.

There's always JSRS, right? Those sounds will always be better than what I can do. I just gotta find what default weapons are the most fitting with JSRS turned on. I think the SDAR can work for the M4A1's. Any tips to what might fit what are welcome. I'm no weapon-sound expert :)

It is possible to have f.e one UCP uniform model with 3 different textures, yes. One texture with different patches for each unit. The uniform is still limited in the way that it will mirror some patches.

That way would however still be the most efficient temporary solution. I could have the standard uniform without patches, then leave the extra uniforms with patches on the sleeves in a clothing box. I am slowly working towards making all of the content available through boxes in-game. So far it's very useful.

In response to the custom uniform idea, this is what I was talking about from Sabre and ardvarkdb's SOTG OA Mod. Not trying to push anything at all, just wanted to give a visual for some uniform ideas. Any way, wonderful news on the plans!https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/56844908/AddonReleases/SOTG/SOTG%20RP/arma2oa%202013-04-17%2011-01-52-61.jpg (517 kB)

This looks pretty neat.

If you feel like you need any help/extra hands with texturing, I might be able to help I haven't been around for long, but I might as well give it a shot and help you out.

Eassy haha I meant the uniform itself, not the armor. The model of the uniform would be nice to use or maybe use as a reference when making a custom uniform. I understand the camouflage and everything else would be changed.

Again, if I'm not mistaken, Alex is choosing to represent the US Military as a whole/standard infantry, which Crye AC uniform (as seen in the SOTG mod with the two strips of velcro on the arm and tan stretch material around the knee) isn't issued but rather the Army combat shirt/pants.

Which have the name tape, rank and flag on the arm like the AAF soldiers do.

The only time you'll see crye produced gear is when someone has paid the $330 or so for shirt and pants...

I am using the default AAF uniforms, and those truly have the issued combat shirt like you linked above. But the waist and down I believe are incorrect. One could in theory create a lowpoly combat shirt and map it to BIS AAF infantry textures. No need to create a high-poly model and bake it that way. It could get sloppy, though. But if done correctly, all of the patches would be changable like needed. It's just to get a combat-shirt, though. Would still need gloves, boots, belt & pants if that can't be done the same way.

Proportions would not need to be done exactly after their model, since we've got a sample character that works perfectly for scaling and create gear around. All uniforms are basicly the exact size as it is. Almost no excess size around the shoulders and arms compared to the sample character.

Ambush, 8'o clock.

Nice work. Am I assuming right that your final mod version will contain both Weapons and Uniforms and Backpacks and so on?

Sounds awesome.

The pants on the AAF soldiers are EMDOM contractor BDU pants, which were converted tru-spec (edit: might have been propper, not tru-spec) tactical pants, apparently. http://www.militarymorons.com/gear/gear.2.html#cbdu

They were never standard issue, and were only made in a small amount. I think it's rational to think that the AAF somewhen during the 2010s - 2020s picked up the cut and had them manufactured locally for their military in their own camouflage pattern, or maybe outsourced them to China or Pakistan (their plate carrier seems to be based on a chinese model, too.).

ACU-pants look rather different. I got an FR one myself, which would be what's issued to troops in the relevant timeframe. FR ACU's have square tabs of nylon fabric in foliage green center on the left hand thigh pocket and on the left hand sleeve cuff, so leaders can immediately tell wether or not a soldier is wearing their fire resistant uniform. The jacket that came with the pants is a standard issue ACU jacket, but is lacking that tab, so it is not an FR jacket. These tabs should not be confused with IR patches, though. I also don't know if the massif combat shirts that the units are wearing have FR indicator tabs anywhere on them, though.

Thanks for clarifying.

Here's a picture of my M107 and it's muzzleflash I found that seemed fitting.

ljyu.jpg

Also. I am unsure if I can use default weapon sounds, and then if JSRS is enabled it uses them instead.

I am very eager to get something like that to work.

i know that works, most mods do that, and the Vz 58 Atin made for the Czech mod we have been making glitched and used the MX sounds

humm...I'm pretty sure that the sounds will be the default ones, even with JSRs enabled.

I was messing with some weapon configs and noticed that.

Good point. You're correct on that, I got a little too excited (Still on the younger side of the forum members). Sorry for the mistake!

I know how to create a working bipod animations when switching to a 'fake' firemode, but I do not think I've found a way to actually have the bipod useful.

I can have it decrease recoil, but it is not ideal because it works when you're just standing in the open also. Can firemodes check if you're in a certain stance?

You could get with the VTS Weapon resting guys and see how they made it detect stances?

Quick screenshots taken during M107 range testing. I did hit the target. Target it approx 1100m out. Not bragging, I could do it all day, but it proves that the rifle works like intended. Doing the same thing with wind enabled, now that's another story :D

Doing some room lol-clearing with the M107CQ :D

(Barrel might seem too short in the pic, but it's just after a shot and the barrel does recoil back when firing)
