spanishsurfer 58 Posted June 24, 2013 I could rant on how CTI is THE gamemode that Arma was made for but I'm curious, why so few servers? I understand that there are only 2-3 CTI modes out now and they are limited compared to A2 CTI modes but they are still very fun. So why isn't CTI more popular and why do so many people play Wasteland? All opinions welcome, I'm just very curious why more people don't jump into CTI. Dark6-6 10 Posted June 24, 2013 PvP in wasteland has higher stakes and intensity. I like domination as well, and CTI. Just depends on the group I suppose. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

EDcase 87 Posted June 24, 2013 -Not enough content for big missions yet Many players are new so just hopping in to have a play while they learn. -New builds break missions as well. -Stratis is a bit small. Once final is released I hope we will see more large scale missions on Altis ;)
spanishsurfer 58 Posted June 24, 2013 Well, the top CTI servers have excellent FPS. I agree the content is limited, but every time I play I manage to group 3-4 players to work together as a squad and take flag after flag. Sometimes involving some very epic battles over dirt. My personal opinion is that many players do not realize that CTI even exists or do not know what it is. I do find myself teaching people the basic concepts quite a bit. Binkowski 26 Posted June 24, 2013 Wasteland has taken over, it's unfortunate but it's true. I've always preferred organized Coop and CTI over everything.
Blacknight 10 Posted June 24, 2013 Spanish, I agree that the current map is not ideal. Have the ARMA 3 CTI missions incorporated the content from beta yet? Spanish what TS are you on these days? PM me a way to get a hold of you.

Minoza 11 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) You're talking about Warfare? Considering it's all about having bunch of AI doing tasks for you, it breaks it for me. Also, it is one of the most unbalanced missions out there, just like it was in Arma 2 as well. I don't like the concept of buying stuff either. On the other side, there's another CTI mission (or is it Hold?) I saw in Beta called Battle for Stratis. Now that is more like it, large scale, balanced game with all assets available from the start. You should definitely try it. Edited June 24, 2013 by Minoza
Colossus 2 Posted June 24, 2013 Pretty much what EDcase said. I didn't like Warfare that much, it's wasn't the same. So anything like crCTI or any other version are more then welcome to try! :D I miss MFCTI though and how CTI was played in OFP. Purchase workers to build your buildings, asking the commander for money so you could buy that fancy tank you wanted, the ever lasting hunt for their base and MHQ (of course, most likely on seperate locations. Maybe even built a fortress on/around it), finding that last damn building some clever comm had disguised as a regular building (or inside another, hehe).. Good times :biggrin_o:

I'm not sure how much CTI you've played, it's pretty well balanced on both Arma2 & 3. The buying concept is good because it rewards players who play the game mode. If you capture towns, kill enemy, etc...you are rewarded with credits/cash. This results in the good players acquiring enough to purchase the more complicated vehicles and aircraft, instead of having a "who can get to it first" mentality. As for the AI doing tasks for you, meh...Yeah you can have them do tasks but they're not very good at it and typically you're going to be working with other players to take towns. rory_pamphilon 16 Posted June 25, 2013 BIS need to make a basic guide/video tutorial for warfare. I personally love the game mode but it has an incredibly steep learning curve. To many potential players join and then get put off because they don't know what they are supposed to do and mistakenly tk. It's one of the best game modes ever concocted and yet where is BISs support for it? Why not have a main menu accessable guide and a few noob friendly official servers as training grounds? Why not have a main menu accessable guide and a few noob friendly official servers as training grounds? BIS can't release a tutorial for warfare because the most popular versions of the game mode are user made missions. The basic concepts of all warfare modes are typically very similar however making a tutorial is not possible for BIS, it's up to the community to do that. I have made my share of tutorials for Warfare modes that I thought were umong the best and will continue to do so once Arma3 is complete. I'm also willing to help anyone that is interested in learning how to play the current warfare modes for Arma3 (Teetimes Warfare). Just find me on Steam (SpanishSurfer) and message me. Rolling 1 Posted June 25, 2013 Wasteland has taken over, it's unfortunate but it's true. I've always preferred organized Coop and CTI over everything. Yeah, for some reason the game modes that involve hardly any tactics (DayZ/Wasteland) are the ones that everyone flocks to. I can see the appeal of DayZ, but I can't really see the appeal of Wasteland :P.
ironhearse 1 Posted June 25, 2013 i sort of blame server owners as much as anything. probably 50% of the servers running Arma3 are playing wasteland. filter by player no. and almost every time wasteland servers take the top 5-10. I'm sure many players that are new to Arma dont realise the different game modes that are available and join the first fairly full server.

The economy of being forced into unknown areas the scavenge with a high risk and the human dynamic leads to some pretty exciting and tense firefights. spanishsurfer 58 Posted June 25, 2013 I'm sure many players that are new to Arma dont realise the different game modes that are available and join the first fairly full server. This is spot on. I run into players all the time who join CTI maps and ask what the game mode is all about...After about an hour of me guiding them through it, I tend to see those same players return. chortles 263 Posted June 26, 2013 The server browser being improved with both "exclude this" options AND perhaps greater room for "instant" descriptions of what a game mode's premise is would probably help, because right now that's basically a matter of mode listing ("co-op", "TvT", "Wasteland", etc.) and whatever is in the mission name. Gtsbaby 10 Posted June 26, 2013 I have just bought Arma 3, my first Arma game. Playing Wasteland means there is no one for me to let down, make costly mistakes in front of or just plain embarrass myself. Sometimes asking in a game what the objectives are just gains negative attention. A few guides or youtube videos of different game modes would help people like me to confidently join a new game type. Hello by the way. My first post here. :D
