Ok all,

Nogova Bridge is fixed and is back online biggrin.gif

I'm sure your maps are lovely but a 3mb coop map is just nuts, my cable is 128kbs up and it'd take forever if I had 3 or 4 friends playing, especially those who use dialup, you really should think about doing "lite" versions as well as your regular versions smile.gif

Yea, so I tried some of those maps.

I am extrememly impressed with your intros... they are truly works of art. It gives the mission a very very very! nice feeling.

Need I say more.

I tried the Nogova bridge, I thought it was coop, LOL first time me and a pal disabled all AI other than our selves... and guess what kind of fight we saw for the next 20 min?

OKay, so Nogova Bridge is a team vs team, but the intro music fits so damn well I can't believe it.

Then we tried the Silent nights one.... nice intro. We watched the intro twice and gave up for the day. smile.gif I went inside where you had the FMJ scene and got in the MG, now i know what a Nazi executoner felt like. I nailed about 20 soldiers, and 10 died.

One thing I can tell you; create orders for the AI so that they do stuff on their own during battles... so far I haven't seen any real action, oh and the T80's crossing the bridge.... sometimes only 1 of them actually drives across while the rest fall in.

Placebo,

OFP will always be a Broadband game, and calling my maps nuts because its 3MB is just plain stupid. Get yourself a better connection or find other maps to play. I make no apologies for the size of my maps and will NEVER make a "lite" version just to satisfy the weak of bandwidth who do nothing but make lag anyway.

What a wonderfully arrogant attitude you have. I have friends who have dialup, they're on dialup because they're in parts of the country where it's the only form of internet available, I certainly won't stop playing with them just to play bloated missions.

Hello all biggrin.gif i am a dial up user and i seem to have no problems with lag with Resistance. i live in Michigan the UP and there is no cable no isdn no dsl. but we have the good old trusty Dial up 3-5K down or about 1K up. and i was playing on the bis testing server last night with Hell toupee and Brune. who i beleave is wiggem. anyways dispite this the told me them self that i did not lag. but from times i have seen that even "broad band" people tend to lag at time. which i think is quite funny. why do i find this funny because majority of the time they blam it on someone else with a "higher ping" from what i seen in games i have played Ping dont always mean Lag but this is just my two tokens worth smile.gif

Hey Winters,

I don't think placebo was making fun of your missions or you. When you release stuff, people always have suggestions, which is a good thing. I don't think you should call him stupid, I realize your missions are best with the sound and cutscenes so you can't really make them light, but don't just get angry because people would like em light.

It's a special kind of mission that you design, and it takes people with certain bandwidth/patience to wait for them to download, so plz don't freak out.

biggrin.gif

I am on cable and my buddy is on ISDN, and we had lunch while loading your Nights mission, but we didn't regret waiting a bit.

My so-called arrogance is only response to the rudeness you have shown me. I know there are people who live in parts of the world were their is no Broadband available, and i am ALWAYS willing to send someone my map via a file transfer. I never told you to stop playing with anyone but don't get all rude and cocky and tell me that its nuts to make a 3MB map just because you don't have the patience to wait for the download to end. BIS has publicy acknowledged that OFP is indeed a Broadband game but as i said before i am always willing to do a file transfer with someone, i have made my maps to share with the community but if people like you can't appreciate the work being done by the fans to keep this game alive and strong you can always play on someone else's map. Asking me to make a "lite" version is like telling Steven Speilberg to make a "lite: version of Saving Private Ryan because 3 hours is too long to sit in a seat and watch it. Please flame the people who deserve it and leave us hard working mission editors alone.

And just what the hell does "bloated" mean??? you have not played any of the maps but yet you fell free to pass judgement???

Wow, and you call me arrogant, what a flippin joke!!!!

BN880,

sorry i didnt respond earlier but it makes me sooo mad when someone who has not even tried a map of mine gets all critical and starts to flame me and calls me "Nuts" because he or she does not want to download such a "Bloated" file. I dont wanna make enemies here i want to share my maps. But anyway, i am passed that now, even though i know someone will flame me some more and say "i downloaded your maps and they suck"

Here is the deal, The AI are meant to follow the orders of the Human Leader, i have played some maps were all you had to do was follow the AI Leader and its no fun for me (others may disagree with me but thats ok) also in silent night, take the blackhawk thats at the base or you will be driving forever, LOL

Any other suggestions or "Constructive" Criticism is always appreciated. Emphasis being on "CONSTRUCTIVE"

Winters out

You seriously need to chill with the attitude, I called a 3mb coop mission nuts, as in "wacky", "extreme", "out there" etc. etc. etc. You're acting like I've made a personal insult against you, nothing of the sort, you don't want to do lite versions, fine I'll download your missions and if I like them I'll make my own lite versions of them, no biggy smile.gif

my coops r small ive made one thats 15kb its got respawn cause it goes for so long it took 8 of us 50mins to finsh it and the whole time we where having fun, its called operation helltoupee and it shows that for mp maps u dont need big voice music or any gimmiks just a challanging mission that people wont get board of. U should have alite version becuase my number one sorce of maps is the server there've often got up to 300 different maps. Most people still have 56k and we should not exclude them i hate people who go round boting 56kers or people in less fortunate areas they dont lag the game and if the booter had his roles switched he wouldnt be too happy. Stewart was on my team in real paint ball he managed to do all the work for me almost biggrin.gif he didnt lag even with about 300ping i think i was 200-300 on my adsl here i nz even when suma joined he seemed able to talk and play while i stood around with my target face(did u see it? it seems to work wounders for those snipers) and made an good target.

And i suppose a moderator can say whatever he likes. And should be allowed to make those comments that he did?

Whatever, it does not matter, if this is the way you all treat people who are trying to make great maps so be it, i removed the links and they are not going back up on this site. I don't have anything against 56K'ers. I have always made myself available to send it in a file transfer if anyone needs it or to e-mail to them. The bottom line is this: If you think the map is too large don't download it. Just go and play a smaller map. I dont why this is such a big deal for you all.

Just try to help people and this is the thanks you get???

Thats what I was wondering... I didnt see anything insulting in placebo's post, rather just helping you on how your missions might be more popular (making them smaller, possibly two versions).

Winters,

Just love your maps. Most of the maps i play are on the larger size too. I have all the patience in the world to wait and download the larger ofp maps. It often means alot more time is spent on working out the bugs.

I can see where the small maps appeal to the ctf players out there, but for coop the larger the better. smile.gif

When people call me Nuts for making a large map and then call me arrogant for defending why i make my maps that way, i call that insulting. But as i have said a few times already i don't want to fight about this anymore, i removed my maps so there is no reason to have this Broadband V 56K debate anymore. Can we all just please drop it???
