CMI Command Improvement Mod

Recommended Posts

yes indeed.

Im working on some Ideas (trial and error:) )

Sakura chan with hist Keys Mod and Windwalking with his WWAI Menu Mod, inspired me alot to get me back to work after a long Break.

My goals are to realy overhaul BIs Existing Command Menu,

By cleaning it up and reorganising the Menu entries to a much more logical way.

Also an Idea ist to use Icon instead of words (just to keeo it frech and new).

Also I want to create an a user/function key like in the "Keys" Mod, so you can give quick commands (like "supressive fire" or "antitank soldier attack this tank") to your team without to have open up the menu or need to select the soldiers before.

Thanks to Windwalking houseclearing is oround the corner and i will implement something like this.

I will also Improve the Unit interaction system, so that every Unit has Menu entries depending on there class. So MG has other entries than Medic.

I hope I can post up some Pics or Videos in the next few days/weeks :)

That's really good to hear. If you want a better integration between our two mods I would be happy to work with u.

Great then. Will be looking forward to that. If you can integrate my commands in your menus in an ordered fashion that would be great for the community. I never liked the command menu organization BIS has.

I'm on the dev branch and get errors lately, had to turn it off... After the first of my team mates dies, I see script errors which are about division by zero while on action mouse over.

i really hope you'll drop the list layout and go for something more visual wthat expands so you can always see the main menu, if that makes any sense. no need to copy BI's bad list "design" ;)

gizz46, good news, I'm open for awesomeness :D . @BBenson oh yes. Also I'm wishing for something more user definable, i.e. that I can see my favourite commands more on top and not buried somewhere deep within menus...

HI folks,

It has been a long while, but here comes the first update on my mod.

So even after the Beta, BIS did not improve their Command System.

In a Game the CommandMenu should not be the challenging part. The only challenging part, should be the Game itself.( The Game is still Awesome ;))

So I started this mod complete new from scratch (afer a while, I wasnt realy happy with my old one).

I also will rename the mod from 'Command Improvement MOD' to 'Command Overhaul Mod'.

Features:

-At first to Simplify the Command of your Squad.

-Interactive Commands. Just one Key and Your Cursor can Order your Squad to clear a Building, Attack a Soldier, Get in a Vehicle and many more.

- Combatmode Presets.

- Interactive Unit Selection. don't need to use the F1-12 Keys anymore.

-Simplefied Menu only uses the Keys from 1-4.

-Icon instead of Word, and not more than five at once. No body needs a overloaded Menu to find one comand.

-Command are logically located. So all movement related Commands are in one, Combat related in another and so on and so on.

-One Key holds two Menus. You hold down the key and toggle through the Menus with the Mousewheel. Release the Key and scroll through the Menu itself.

Mod will hopefully be released in the next few days. And will be at first only for Singleplayer.

A longterm goal is defenetly a MP use.

Here are some Pictures. :yay:

p><p><img src=[/img]

<a href=arma32013-10-2713-08-19-959_zpsd5b2d2c7.

This is still Work in Progress.

So the Icons will be Optimized and Changed.

looks very interesting. could you make a video though? i think it's a much better method to show how the UI behaves. doesn't need to be fancy with commentary. just a few seconds showing how you use your system. can't wait for more!

@Bad Benson

I will upload a video soon.

Most part of the UI is the regular CommandMenu.I just used Icons instead of words and set the backroundcolor to transparent

Awesome ! thank you very much :)

To bring some thoughts to this already great interface, I would really like to tweak the preset 1-2-3, there is no userconfig file.

And... is it possible to hide the helper picture at top left ? at some point, you don't need it anymore and it takes place on HUD for nothing...

pretty sure the non-centered menu is my fault, I left some unnecessary definitions in the menu class, specifically the x,y co-ordinates for the menu. I posted a fixed version.

@ Sakura_Chan

thanks for fixing this. tested it and now everything works how it should.Your mod is realy awesome

@Niko Teen

with presets you mean the combat presets right?

thought about this too, while I was building this mod. But this had a lower priority at that time, so it didn't get in this version.

i could bind them to userkeys also, so you can change them ingame the way you want.

I think I put it in the next update.

I will defenetly change the working of the Helping picture. My thoughts on this was just, that everybody has more help at the beginning and know all the time which menues are on which Keys.

I tested it more last night, and your mod is amazing once you get used to it !

I especially like the building assault feature, so simple to execute. The soldiers now get through building instead of flanking around in city, really impressive.

In your previous mod version, you did set up a pre defined colored fireteams for squad, that was very convenient.

I think it's gone now, could you make it back ? please :)

@NikoTeen

thanks for your feedback, yeah have this script for teamcolor somewhere on my harddisk. will add this in the next update.

a long term goal (not a promise ;)) is to bind teamcolor to unit type, as example ,sniper and spotter are team red, MG is team blue and so on and so on have to see how this works.

for the houseclearing you have mainly to thank Windwalking. I just modified and integrated it to my needs
