Well, as I live in Hong Kong myself, the standard of "quality of life" is really depends, but to summarize one point for sure is the vast majority of the commercial products and public services to satisfy what people needs are based on the physical credits, which mean you won't live there good without a credit card and dozens of bank notes out there (or even critically say, without a richly profitable job is also stand no right to deserve any social goodness).

It's more like a problem of the expanding global population caused an opportunity for production and innovation for many rising countries, however they're suffering the same mistakes: either these workers are blinded under the economical materialism to being overly productive, which is not all the people could afford their products, or they're just serving for what people's temporal needs for fashion more than lives and ethics; both are slow death of the environment and economic.

And I really doubtful to think that the advanced and superior quality of life for everyone could bring humanity any better, since they're consuming resources faster, AKA more risky future for the next generation.
