Lanky 2012's Addons

Recommended Posts

G'day Im Laurence, Im 23 & from australia, anyways im interested in trying my luck at some modding for this game, as i have gained valuable exprience within other games of creating 3d objects, mainly farming machinery although have always been passionate about flying i've started on a AS350, below is some of my work still in the secondary stages of modelling.

I am slowly learning animation with my program and hope to some time down the track release my Work in progress. (perhaps a moderator could setup a Work In Progress Modding Link :yay:)

I look forward to learning the programs the creators of the game use to create there models, and hopefully down the track they may release a plugin for import/export etc

As a boilermaker by trade in the heavy engineering sector working roughly 5 days or more per week, my time for modelling varies, I hate being hounded by newbies, " when will it be released" "any further updates" " i dont like it like that" etc, At the end of the day if you dont like it dont use it. :j:

Hello Lanky2012

Welcome to the forum.

Please take a moment to review the rules that you accepted today at 00:20, forum time.

It's good to have another addon maker with us. You're in good company.

edit: Okay, since you've posted artwork, I'll change the name of your thread to 'Lanky2012's addons' or something. However, please also note we have rules regarding image sizes.

§23) No user introduction threads

Welcome to the BI Forums! However please note that we do not allow any "I'm the new one", "I'm back" or "I'm leaving" threads here. If you want to feel welcome simply jump into an ongoing discussion and combine your hello with a thoughtful and insightful post!

§15) Do not hotlink images over 100kb (102400 bytes) in size

Do not link images over 100kb using the IMG tags to display an image in your post. If you wish to post an image larger then 100 kb feel free to post the URL instead of hotlinking.

Great stuff - it will be good to see some community made helos in the game - whenever they arrive. Most people in the community understand the mantra 'It's done, when it's done' and there are actually forum rules to prevent people ffrom simply asking for progress updates. Having said that you'll get the odd one or two - just take a deep breath!!!

There are some great resources and help to be found in the editing/configs/modelling threads on both the ToH and Arma 2 forums. Modelling in Arma 2 is very similar to ToH and as it's been around longer there's more stuff over there...

ToH Editing Forum

Arma 2 Editing Forum

Good luck and I look forward to flying whatever you build!

EDIT----> Forgot to mention. BI released a sample model package for ToH. It contains a model, liveries and the configs needed to get it working in game. Might be a valuable source for you. It's here.

let us know if you need help with Proxies for Crew , i think its still possible to get a good position using arma2 sample model and animations from arma1 for a rough guestimate , it maybe that you can even view Binarised proxies these days its been so long since i did anything like this.

WOW!

That model is stunning... :yay:

Did you have any modeling experience before your 8 months with 3DSmax??

I know first hand (when struggling to make some repaints for the light heli) that there are great talented people here on the forums who are most willing to help.

I really, really hope you'll manage to get this baby in the sim.

Keep it up!

Cheers,

Sylvain

Good day Laurence, let me introduce myself.

My name is Radu, i'm 26, i am have ~8years of experience with 3ds max and PS, and about 3-4 in the gaming and vfx industries, not mentioning architecture (where i got a master degree from just last year) and advertising. I am currently working commercially as generalist 3d artist on a number of projects.

So i can easily tell (in this case with the help of my friend SA), when someone is chewing on the turd like you have been doing.

First of, let me put some images here, i have really tried to get the same angles as in your pictures, i am sorry that i couldn't get the exact same ones, but overall i think i did a pretty good job (i didn't bother myself replicating your renders as well):

http://i.imgur.com/j1hGt.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/v7aQa.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/kapO6.jpg

as you can see, the work you have been advertising as YOUR OWN, isn't. You haven't even bothered changing the wireframe color. It is a freeware model that you got from here: LINK REMOVED/eurocopter-as350-3d-model/[/url]. Funny thing is that same model have been link on these same boards not that long ago: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?128568-Eurocopter-AS350

While you have not committed any wrong doing by downloading the as350 (you are allowed to use that model anyway you please), i find you a really sad person going around and pretending he is actually working on something when in fact he got that off the web. Unfortunately, you are not the first one, neither the last to do it.

Thank you for making a fool out of yourself, and showing everyone the type of person you are.

I can only wonder what other stuff you got off the internet (my first pick would be 3ds max in your case, but that is a completely other discussion...)

Best of luck explaining yourself to the mods (who have been notified btw). This sort of shit doen't fly (for long anyway) around those forums.

PS: all credits for pinpointing the "similarities" goes to SA. I have only taken my time to verify, take the grabs and make the above post.

PPS: the bolded and colored parts are freaking hilarious and sad at the same time....

Good work! It's great to see a helicopter being put together for Take On!

Best,

RiE

I sort of feel sorry for you mate...i really do ;)

Using other peoples' artwork and claiming that it is your own is a serious offence here.

Contrary to what Pufu is saying about being in the right to download that model, that website is a known source of illegally ripped material. For us in the moderating biz, it actually serves pretty well as a list of things that are ripped illegally and out there. I'm disappointed to see that this model was on that website, to say the least.

This thread is closed, in all likelihood, permanently. Your account will be suspended pending the results of this IP dispute.

I agree with RiE, though. The model, at least the exterior, looks fairly nice, and it was good to see helicopter mods being developed for take on... it is equally a shame to see that this effort may be fraudulent. Please contact me via PM if you have anything to add.

§20) Posting addon/mod other content without permission

For many years this community has been known as the premium addon/mod creating community, people work tirelessly and in great detail to create fantastic addons/mods/missions/campaigns to release for free so that everyone benefits, including Bohemia Interactive. There are a few simple rules in place to provide the respect to these creative people/groups that they deserve:

The first and most fundamental rule is that you must seek permission to alter someone's work, to mirror it or use it in any way other than for personal use. No permission, no editing, no mirroring, no adding to your mod pack, no editing and sharing around your private squad, none of that is acceptable.

Obviously we cannot unfortunately control what people do outside of these forums, however on these forums you must follow this rule, if a person/team post a thread to share an addon/mod using content from someone else without permission and we receive a complaint then the mod thread will be closed until the issue is resolved and the forum member(s) risks being permanently banned from these forums for taking someone's work without permission.

This isn't just limited to re-using content in addons/mods/missions however, it's not acceptable to edit someone's work without permission and then to post screenshots of it on the forums (even if the edited addon/mod is purely for personal use), it's also not acceptable to edit someone's work, or use someone's work in any way that you don't have permission for and then to create videos which you post on these forums, doing any of the above without the permission of the original creators risks a permanent ban, for individuals, for whole mod teams or squads.
