Altimeter 10 Posted December 7, 2011 I got this weird graphic bug in trees: http://s14.directupload.net/images/111207/irg46nf8.jpg Any idea what to do? Is it a bug, should I change some options? I have a Nvidia GTX275.
sakura_chan 9 Posted December 7, 2011 go to your username > documents > Arma2 folder open Arma2OA.cfg change AToC=7; to AToC=0; save that bish
max power 21 Posted December 7, 2011 That's a feature (for real this time). It's called ATOC and it's to help with performance. Read this article to find out how to turn it off: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/arma2.cfg You probably only need to location of arma2.cfg and what parameter to use with atoc. Altimeter 10 Posted December 7, 2011 Ah thank you very much.
metalcraze 290 Posted December 7, 2011 If anything AToC is the opposite of helping with performance. It's for graphics.

I thought my previous graphics card just didn't support it properly when it looked like that.
Laqueesha 474 Posted December 7, 2011 AToC makes vegetation look less "jagged", and as a result, requires anti-aliasing to be on. Pretty much anti-aliasing for trees and grass. It makes vegetation look smoother and blend in better with the environment, and as a result, decreases performance somewhat.
metalcraze 290 Posted December 7, 2011 Actually it decreases peformance a lot when there's too much grass and a lot of trees (like Chernarus). For me it eats up to 10 FPS there in contrast to AA without AToC Better graphics of course don't go well together with performance.
Altimeter 10 Posted December 11, 2011 So in conclusion: Atoc = 0 should make the game look better (at least remove the ugly patterns) and increase perfomance?
-=seany=- 5 Posted December 11, 2011 Yep, that is correct.
Altimeter 10 Posted December 11, 2011 Indeed, I can confirm the patterns are gone and I have 9-11 FPS more O_o
xman1 10 Posted December 16, 2011 I thought this was supposed to be fixed in a future patch? :( -X
max power 21 Posted December 17, 2011 Huh. I thought the dithering pattern was supposed to increase performance.
xman1 10 Posted December 19, 2011 It came out with patch 1.59 I believe too. It was not in previous patches. And I can confirm the same issue exists in Take On Helicopters. -X
Dwarden 1125 Posted December 23, 2011 AToC quality and implementation differs per hardware vendor (NVIDIA, INTEL and AMD does it bit differently) per hardware generation (newer NVIDIA cards do it better than older) per driver build (some fail on it, some do it better or worse) the 'correct' result is better look on slight cost of performance
