Films you _never_ grow tired of

Recommended Posts

Arguably if you watch a movie often enough it will sink into your brain so deep it won't be fun to watch anymore.

Remember Macarena ? Exactly ! (Though I hated the song first time I heard it already).

Movies like Godfather, The Graduate, The Abyss, Rain Man, Casablanca and countless others which I cherish and adore I keep on my DVD shelf but watch them maybe once a year with that special someone.

It brings a lot more pleasure to me.

Woohoo! Red Dawn!

A bunch of High School football players kick ass on the Russians! So realistic... so touching... so... something wink.gif

It was a good movie when I was 14...but I am afraid to watch it now.

I agree that you shouldnt watch your favourite movies once a month, that just makes it boring. But a great movie is like an old friend...you're always happy when you get to see them!

Noone said it had to be realistic. It is still a great movie you know. Well made, solid action and amazingly good acting, considering. Its not like Top Gun is very realistic either.

Braveheart? Bah its crap(and historically a load of crap)

its just Mel Gibsons "ooh look at me freeing the plucky oppressed peoples from the stereotypical evil English devils with complete disregard for historical accuracy (same for the Patriot)"

Still what can you expect from these damn colonials?

What what?

What?

Jeeves bring me my Elephant rifle and take me to USAF Lakenheath ive got some evil unprovoked attacks to make

BWAHAHAHAHAHahahhahahahahahahah

what?

-*Laurence of Arabia

-*Battle of Britain

-*FMJ (naturally-check the name/\ sad people who remember scripts word for word)

-*Clockwork Orange (for being banned for decades in the UK by Stanley Kubrick despite for me, being an amusing parody)

-*Iron Cross (or something like that)- iseem to remember always finding this fun to watch-maybe im thinking of another film

-*Bladerunner(i played the game first actually)

-*Possibly Lord of the Rings (except for the music and depending on the rest of the trilogy)-just for starring small people with hairy feet  tounge.gif

-*Apocalypse now (predictable i suppose-but it IS really good)

-*Alien(s) and a bunch of other popular films people have mentioned

-*SPR for the first 30 minutes or so

-*lots of hard to remember Opaque French films about nothingness

-*many Alfred Hitchcock films

-*ZULU

-*The original Star Wars (for originality in ushering in a new dark age of lobotomised -special effects before acting or scripts- hollywood films)

-*lots of other 70s war films (theyre usually 'gritty' ) and most WW2 films (especially involving British commando raids)

-*lots of amusing young teen films(no not that kind

tounge.gif ) from the 80s/early 90s involving some form of unlikely adventure

-*Metropolis(+ lots of old horror films smile.gif and weird sci fi)

-*DUNE of course

Not the Matrix

-*Heartbreak Ridge

-*Charlie Chaplin films

-*most undead/zombie films

+ dumb werewolf films (ie most)

http://www.wsu.edu/~delahoyd/wolf.films.html

-*Leon

-*Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

(+ any other films Terry Gilliam cares to make)

*-Stupid Troma films

*-Quadrophenia

*-Warriors  tounge.gif

*-Taxi Driver

etc etc

lots of little forgettable films that i like

a ton of others

ill post more when i think of them

especially little known films

Not in the least.

Tarentino is an amazing director... but his movies are, for the most part, flash without substance. Sort of Violence, Incorporated.

Ritchie on the other hand has a more refined style. His weaving of plot lines is a little more subtle and he doesnt beat you over the head with the violence like Tarentino does. And I generally find that the less intelligent of my circle of friends find Tarentino more intelligable than Ritchie...whereas the smarter ones enjoy the subtlety and style of Ritchie. Yes...in spite of a man getting beat to death with a dildo (in Snatch...pure genius!wink.gif there is more subtlety to the violence.

I am not saying Ritchie is BETTER than Tarentino, just that I find his style more appealing. Plus...What has happened to Tarentino? Did he die? Jackie Brown was his last new movie and that was 4 1/2 years ago. Bleah. IMDB says he has a movie called Kill Bill coming in 2003
