For the love of everything sacred, you better be kidding!<span id='postcolor'>

Not in the least.

Tarentino is an amazing director... but his movies are, for the most part, flash without substance.  Sort of Violence, Incorporated.

Ritchie on the other hand has a more refined style.  His weaving of plot lines is a little more subtle and he doesnt beat you over the head with the violence like Tarentino does.  And I generally find that the less intelligent of my circle of friends find Tarentino more intelligable than Ritchie...whereas the smarter ones enjoy the subtlety and style of Ritchie.   Yes...in spite of a man getting beat to death with a dildo (in Snatch...pure genius!wink.gif there is more subtlety to the violence.

I am not saying Ritchie is  BETTER than Tarentino, just that I find his style more appealing.  Plus...What has happened to Tarentino? Did he die?  Jackie Brown was his last new movie and that was 4 1/2 years ago. Bleah. IMDB says he has a movie called Kill Bill coming in 2003<span id='postcolor'>

I have a problem referring to either one of them as a genius.

Add to my list:

Clerks

Mallrats

Chasing Amy

Dogma

Dogma is also one of those quirky 'brilliant' films. I find the more close minded someone is, the more they hate it smile.gif

I just saw them all again last week and already now I miss them again. When watching it, I simply can't explain what draws me into it's universe and makes me a full member of the family smile.gif

Anthony Burgess was always pissed off at Kubrick for ruining the message of his book.

Kubrick used the American publication version of the book for his movie, which lacked the final chapter present in other countries.

The version of the book I have is the first American version with the fully restored final chapter, and includes a new introduction by Burgess in which part of it he uses to rip Kubrick.

You forgot eurotrash smile.gif

Let me rebash by saying that you respond to form rather than content, which is the typical approach for someone with a narrow perspective.

Ah, that's because you cannot defend it in any substansial way, so you resort to a stark generalisation of those that think differently. smile.gif

All those Jay and Silent Bob flicks will go the way of all those Cheech and Chong flicks...

Remember Macarena ?  Exactly !  (Though I hated the song first time I heard it already).

Movies like Godfather, The Graduate, The Abyss, Rain Man, Casablanca and countless others which I cherish and adore I keep on my DVD shelf but watch them maybe once a year with that special someone.

It brings a lot more pleasure to me.<span id='postcolor'>

You liked The Abyss?? I wouldnt be insulting anyones taste in movies if I were you

you ask us if we "remember" it?? ?? ??

Like it was some pilot for a TV series that went FUBAR.

It's fucking film history you're talking about. Film history based on _classic_ litterature.

edit: on a second read I got the feeling that you where joking. Atleast I hope so.
