I haven't found a similar pool/concept, so here's an idea I came up with.

In ArmA II, weather seemed to be purely cosmetic, only minimally affecting the gameplay. I'd like to see a better system implemented in AIII.

In real life, temperature, humidity and rain/snow have a large effect on person's fatigue. For example, in a hot and humid environment, it's more difficult to function than in normal temperatures. Because BI implemented in-game uniform changes, it might be nice to see winter and summer uniform variants implemented, with actual in-game effect. Perhaps they could even add an ability to adjust cuffs and collar on the uniform according to temperature (at least in case of MCCUU, I found that this does matter much more that I thought). There's also a matter of rain and snow, especially snow could make even normal walking difficult. Rain could create mud which would greatly slow down infantry (especially if they're weighted down) and sometimes prevent non-tracked vehicles from moving through it at all. Combined with wind, it could greatly increase fatigue (just try walking in the strong wind and rain, it's far more difficult than in any of them alone). Double the effect for hailstorms.

There's also the matter of vehicles being affected by weather. Anybody who ever drove a car in winter can attest how much this affects it's handling. Off road handling, of course, should be much more affected. It was done in a mod for AII, so I'd like to see it in AIII. Since vehicles can be towed, I guess that they could also be dragged or pushed, which I'd like to see implemented in case of icy/muddy environment. I'd also like to see sliding on the wet/icy road, in AII you could drive like a madman in a rainstorm and not end up spinning and plunging off the road.

Then there's wind, which should not only affect smoke (like in AII), but also ballistics, sailing (in AII it only affects waves) and fatigue. It should also be easier to set in editor.

Of course, ice and hail effects, as well as winter uniforms, wouldn't be really useful for Lemnos, but rain and varying temperatures, as well as wind effects would.

Now, that was my opinion on the subject. What do you think?

Other. Although it's something I want, I think it's "too early" considering the game takes place on Lemnos, which you say yourself isn't really suitable. For that I would limit first attempt on having rain affect offroad vehicle performance, maybe add loss of friction if that is something that the new physics engine can do convincingly. And even then, it wouldn't be all that high on my priority list. That would change completely if the setting was different, like the main game being mainly a winter simulation.

It would be nice if it affected flying... Landing in a strong sidewind is always muchos fun..

Wet soldiers must move slowly, because have more weight!

Its a hell of a lot more fun when you can drift through the snow!

Mercedes+Rear wheel drive FTW

Although I love the idea alot, I see the same issue they don't implement the wind -AI.

Ai can barely drive now -maybe a worthwhile tradeoff for the fun factor anyways :)

I would love see them fly helicopters in a storm. :p

But yes I would want it as long as the AI dont f*** everything up.

You know I would too :D

Perhaps have reaslitic weather as an option with a strong disclaimer from BIS "AI may go FUBAR but enjoy the lulz!"

In PvP would be freakin amazing.

Yeah, would be good to have rain affect car handling and wind affect aircraft handling but won't happen if AI are involved.

I propose that these effects only happen to human players and we'll just pretend that AI can handle it. (vehicles can still be bogged/slowed down by mud but no skidding and no wind effect on aircraft.)

Hi, the weather should affect at everything, from vehicles to weapons; will be great if the game had realistic weather (over all the ground itself) but it won't happen; is too hard. Let's C ya

Do it BIS. Do it.

This will add so much to the immersion provided by the environment.

Rain should be more than just a nice visual effect.

And include wind at least to affect weapon shots please - like ACE does. It will make shooting that much more interesting, especially on longer distances.

And wind sync over network of course

Well I think it should definitely be implemented but DON'T OVERDO IT! For instance, if I start a mission with heavy rain, my guy should still technically be able to run just as fast, especially on pavement. Mud is only created after days of rainfall.

On the other hand, imagine if SNOW were implemented... oh god, so epic.

Well I think mud slipage is already a confirmed feature but not sure if its rain related or part of the island creation process. As for the rest I think BIS have bigger fish to fry if they are to attract a broader player base
