sv5000 127 Posted August 16, 2011 Don't really care, in fact I couldn't even tell you if its currently on or not. I have been gaming for the past 20+ years, Everything is an improvement if I cast my mind back to EGA games ;)
ast65 10 Posted August 17, 2011 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=123121For some reason on my 6970, seems the higher render res is no issue for the card. On my 460, i need to tone it down, or use 100% with AA. I still need to test the FXAA I assume the 6970 has 2gb video ram, that´s the important part if you want to use 200% video resolution. btw FXAA is a very acceptable compromise if you don´t have highend hardware, I´m using it atm; another benefit esp. in ArmA2 is that it generates less artifacts than ingame AA :bounce3:
dayglow 2 Posted August 19, 2011 Performance is more important than image quality for me. As I run a triple monitor setup I need all the performance I can get. Expanded fov is more important than jaggies.
HR4 Elite 10 Posted August 20, 2011 I use it, never use to as I could not really tell the difference at first, but when you view tree’s and shrub type detail with it on there is quite a noticeable difference, especially at longer ranges, instead of skeleton tree’s off in the near distance you get fuller filled out tree’s with it on. I find normal setting is adequate, higher settings can be used if your wanting to wonder around looking at the scenery testing vehicles etc, my res is 1920x1080 on a 22†and I sit right in-front of the screen now so that could be why I notice the difference. The question I have to anyone concerning this topic, I have a Radeon Sapphire Toxic 2gb HD5850, GDDR5 version card installed, over-clocked, gpu clock setting up from 775 to 880MHz, Mem clock setting up from 1165 to 1280MHz using the auto tune device (did go a little higher but I brought it down a little to be on the safe side as it runs the game with no real problems at the stock settings), so would it be better to disable in-game settings and use the settings concerning the AA & AF etc, from the card ? xxbbcc 6 Posted August 20, 2011 Couldn't be less important. I have it off as I prefer having the extra frames for the same CPU cycles.
galzohar 31 Posted August 20, 2011 No AA is quite ugly in my opinion, and makes some details actually harder to see or even invisible. Must have at least some. So far I can run all games on max AA so don't have to worry about checking which level of AA I consider as a minimum requirement.
no use for a name 0 Posted August 21, 2011 I used to opt for a higher 3D res instead of AA; but since AToC only works with AA enabled then I have to use low AA with a 120% 3d resolution
mrcash2009 0 Posted August 21, 2011 (edited) In most games I like it on & prefer it, as regards Arma, becuase of 3d res/fill rate you can spoof a decent smooth AA "look" without it being on. So I have juggled things to get decent FPS and now have it turned off, only real jaggies that I spot are wheels of cars / bumpers / slightly on the gun and poles/power lines, but overall it looks smooth enough to never really get in the way. Oddly I have down graded my resolution to 1 under native res, upped fill rate to 2x up from that (140 percent I think, dont have game on to remember) with AA off, this gives me the smoothness on the eye and hits a sweet spot with FPS. Kinda agree here. I do the same with my graphics settings. I also found out for myself, that it is much easier to spot and distinguish targets in the distance without any AA. However with AA, sometimes targets halfly hidden behind objects become blury or not so destinct anymore. And due to the fact that I paly organized PvP and mostly PvP/Warfare in Public Play, I liek the game looking clear without AA, even though that means, that you sometimes get some ugly pixels. The 3D fill rate really helps to increase the visual quaility and also has small AA effects.
kiss4luna 10 Posted August 22, 2011 AA always on in almost any games i play

Drumheller 19 Posted August 25, 2011 I'd like to use it but with AA and grass on I take a massive FPS dump, and the ground terrain looks pretty bad without grass on, so my choice is grass on, AA off. ---------- Post added at 10:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 PM ---------- Don't really care, in fact I couldn't even tell you if its currently on or not. Which is why most oldschool gamers can't stand the CoD series.
