Forces Spéciales, a must-be-seen french movie

Recommended Posts

here is the teaser of the new movie "Forces Spéciales".

in theater 11/02/11

It's about a rescue mission in Pakistan, near the Afghan frontier. French SF (Benoit Magimel, Djimon Hounsou, Denis Ménochet) are sent to rescue a reporter (Diane Kruger) who's been taken hostage...

-the french COS (Commandement des Opération Spéciales) is, I think, about the same as the JSOC.

-the actors have been trained 1 month by the French Commandos Marine.

-the Commandos Marine arelike the British SAS or the US Seal Team Six

The French MOD certainly seems to have gone all-out on this one, judging from the vehicles and ships shown.

The Commandos Marine are like the British SBS (Navy), not SAS (Army).

Who wouldn't scale mountains and take on many times their own number if the hostage looked like Diane Kruger :D

The best thing to come out of Germany since the principles of Blitzkrieg.

Mmmm....I don't know about French films, but in North American films if I can't tell the story by the trailer, I usually end up deciding not to see it because it's most likely a weak movie.

From the trailer I gathered that:

- There is a pretty lady.

- French special forces cry.

- There are some cool scenes.

If you didn't tell me that they were rescuing a reporter from a hostage situation, I could never have gathered that from the trailer.

Still, I may check it out if it ever ends up online.

Yeh well, every friggin Hollywood trailer pretty much tells you the whole bloody story, and even gives away the really funny or dramatic bits !!

HATE THAT !

I much prefer some cinematic tit-bits .............. and it looks good!

...... *roll eyes* .... BS

Looks like it has something of a 9th Company vibe to it, similar directing style. Looking forward to it.

Technicaly it looks pretty good but I'm sick of this slo-mo scenes where the guy runs, everything explode around him, violins,...

Those movies are doing an outstanding job at portraying the world in black and white, the lovely good guys fighting for freedom against the evilish bad guys who kill women and rape children...

I miss movies like Syriana.

Anyway, still looking forward to it :p

Yeah, another shiny topmodel decorated hero-movie about war.

A war advertising movie like Top Gun, which was financed by the US Government, to find more low paid war-addicted kids to leave their skull for little money somewhere ...

If you don't do war advertising in your movie, you won't get the military equipment which is extremely expensive from the US to make your movie look good. So ... you cannot make a 'good' warfilm without following the wish of the military governmental (same in France now?) to advertise war to get more low paid soldiers ... human material to burn.

My grandfather said: Never take on a uniform, my son, you get rid of your brain at the very moment. He fought in two Worldwars ...

All who answer prasing the movie and the being-soldier: Did you ever fight in a war?

Yay, let's bash the hell out of it before we've even seen it.

It's not about bashing the hell out of it, Daniel, but seriously do you have any doubts that Diane Kruger will survive in the end ?

My guess on the story :

Diane Kruger is doing an article about orphelins somewhere in Pakistan. Evilish talibans take her in hostage. The French ministry of defense set up a rescue team, made of the best of the best of the french army. The hero is probably alcoholic and was about to leave the army but the MoD really needs him (violins, B&W slo-mo flashback on a previous mission that went wrong and where he lost his best friend), this mission will give a new sense to his life (trumpets, french flag floating in the wind)

The team is sent to Pakistan, they all die, the hero is the last one standing but he sacrifices his life to save Ms Kruger. Violins, again, credits.

I really wish it won't be like that but I don't have too much hope...

Why are you posting on a war game forum?

Somehow tis came to my mind after watching that Trailer:

What is the difference between French soldiers and French spec ops?

The sf guys at least shoot at the enemy while running away

Just a joke guys, don't take it to seriously :D
