Amazing! SMAW can toast T-90's!

Now you've made some real discovery! There's more! You can do same with PG-7VR, M1A2 can be destroyed by 3-4 shots from T-72 and 30mm autocannon can destroy T-72!

And you know what? We knew it already when game war released.

Long story short:

There's no Armor/Penetration system in game engine, so weapon effectivness is similar regardless hitting front or side armor. HP system can use multipliers for specific parts, so tracks take more than turret, but that's basically all you can get.

Yeah the vanilla armor System is really bad, try that in ACE.

Hmm....AA2 consists of '3 games in one', namely infantry, armour and aviation, but it seems the developers bit off more than they could chew by combining them all into one game as it meant they had to cut corners and compromise on realism in certain areas..

Haha. Initially I didn't see that you hit it in the front and I wasn't surprised.

That seems a bit much.

So what? The heaa round of the smaw can penetrate 600mm of RHA, and you're hitting it in the rear, where the armour is weakest, and in the engine. A more interesting test would be to hit it in the front.

It looks to me like he did hit it in the front. Look at the buildings he is by when he is firing and then look at the ones behind the tank. They don't look similar. That leads me to conclude he fired from the front.

Sorry, I editted my post before I saw that there were replies. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess because it's on fire in the rear? I thought that was the explosion of the anti tank round. Anyways, I must be on drugs :p

Im sick of readig this over and over agaim. ACE is no solution ACE is just another small MP Island to make sure players count is droppig even more. Right now you often can't fill regular Servers with players, using mods cuts the player count even more.

This is hardly an argument. It is more of a problem that there are hundreds of different squads and subsquads, each putting up 2 instances of the game.

But it adds a whole bunch of good and realistic Features. Its not a small MP island, Its a huge one!

Don't blame me, blame BIS. Many players prefer ACE and think it's better, that's not my fault. :)

My respect for AA2 has definitely dropped a few notches after seeing that the armour penetration side of things is about as realistic as a mickey mouse cartoon..

The ballistic modeling for RPGs/SMAWs/etc. is about as realistic as a mickey mouse cartoon as well.

Yes but luckily I've always regarded AA1/AA2 primarily as INFANTRY combat games, so the fact that the armour side of it is not so hot doesn't bother me all that much anyway, as I like playing mostly inf v inf.

If we want a realistic armour game we can always buy one of the titles out there such as 'Steel Beasts Pro Personal'

This franchise would have been dead nine and a half years ago without mods.

Sorry, but WoW is not a realistic flight sim...its a so called "softcore Sim" with very simplistic functions and physics.

This here is a series of more realistic, more hardcore Flightsims but even this ones falls flat on the face in lots of areas.

put m1a1 and t90 on map.

as far as I remember m1a1 still usable after 15 sabots to turret - t90 blow after 5 or so.

Looks like to game bugs they added ace bugs (double buble lol)

p.s one my friend t90 crew in real life asked me why you only able to enter commander or driver seat from one side only - I don't what answer him :)

The problem is not mods. It's that people think ACE is the solution to every issue. One issue that ACE doesn't address is bloat. Not everyone loves it.

I find ace a drag on performance - many people have told me I should only get a 2/3 fps hit. This was the case with ARMA2 ACE... With OA1.9 I get a steady 8-10 gps decrease. Too many scripts going on and firefights are extremely voluminous to the point of making performance suffer.

A2 never intended to be SB Pro level or DCS level.

It's an infantry game, with added armor and air elements to have an integrated battlefield like no other game offers. These added elements are by no mean realistic

That said, they could have avoided a few big errors like the one you outlined :D

in real-life SMAW can't do that too, btw.

T90==T72B chasis+T80U armaments, slightly simplified for export[to ease training].

T90A=T90A with improved engine[to compete with FAR more capable T80UM/T80UM2], installed ISS, improved FCS and loadout, ie suitable for domestic usage too.

so in terms of protection, T90 was about 1.8x-2.5x harder to crack,than M1A2, for example[conted in RHA metrics, by both kind of ordnance]
