British 'Bulldog' APC

I wouldn't mind either way mate. If you wanted to go to the trouble of animating the doors and suchlike, I'd really appreciate it. However, it's a lot of work to do so would understand if you wanted to direct your energies elsewhere.

EDIT: Looking like a good job so far mate.

Looks the business mate keep up the good work.

Now if only someone would do a Panther I'd be over the moon :D

So glad we have a stack of guys churning out British kit.

One of the few bugbears I have with your addons is the performance issues associated with the huge amount of texture files used; to hear you're trying a new method is pretty cool stuff!

-a case of mistaken identity, don't mind my absent mindedness-

My emphasis in Dave's quote.

If this is so then I'm not happy:eek:

The only other model I've released (also a 432) has three main textures in the primary LOD (all 2048 x 2048 with their attendant nohq and smdi files).

Section count is six. Is this really excessive - excessive enough to cause lag?

At the time I released it, I ran a dual core 2.66 with a 8800GTX gpu

and it ran OK - though I don't go in for massive multi unit missions.

If others would confirm problems with the textures then I'll have to have a massive rethink - unfortunately my new approach to texturing didn't include reducing the size/number of textures!

No, thats less than most BIS units have.

3 textures/6 sections is fantastic!

No idea wtf DaveP is talking about!

I did do some work with Trouble on his BAOR addons (nice bloke btw).

Could be Dave is confusing my stuff with his?

We are both working in the same area after all.

Please don't make me reduce the size of me textures I'm having enough problems as it is!

No mate, i'm pretty sure he was talking about these ones, there are about 25 texture files on them, not saying they're bad work, but they do cause performance issues, possibly getting mixed up.

OK, thanks for the input guys - my heart rate is coming down again ...

My primary concern is to make my stuff as 'game friendly' as I know how -

and with my limited knowledge any feed back is priceless.

Cheers

A case of mistaken identity

No worries, easy mistake to make ... tho' you did have me going for a while!:D

Wonder if you re camouflaging it ?

Afaik the real thing was never camo'ed as such... just painted yellow!

That's why I've left the engine covers grey to make it a bit more interesting!

No textures on it yet just a base coat to get me started.

As I've got nothing new to show here's an ingame pic:

A little update for those with a passing interest.

Got distracted from texturing with animating the mortar hatch

which now works:yay:

... well that should be half a banana really as it only opens half way!

Given myself a heap more work tho'.

Also tweaking the config which gives me an excuse to post this which I've entitled 'Bad day at the office':)

bad_day.jpg

still trying to get the 'barracuda' right - this is attempt number 403 ...

Thanks for the replies.

So as not to take credit for something that isn't mine ....

The 'shot up' textures are pure BIS 50% damage textures applied via config.

You don't often get to see them before the thing erupts in a ball of flame ...

I think they are rather cool hence the screen shot.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Cleggy,

First time ive seen this project but i love it! I too have just started modelling over the past 12 months or so and feel im ready to take on something of this size, just need to work out what now, its got to be British though, this has really given me some inspiration to get started.

Great work there mate cant wait to see it, I've just started to look into modelling thinking of creating a British Army Coyote which would probably take 2 seconds if I could find the model for the Jackal lol

What I would love to see in the game are Mastiff 2's and Wolfhound's, are there any projects of these on going??
