Battleground Europe - goes f2p

Recently i did find some infos about an MMO world war 2 game called "Battleground Europe" which is offering free to play content.

I did start playing a bit and so far its quiete interesting, will copy some infos about it which I saw in the forum.

Battleground Europe offers free to play content since a short time. They are in a testing phase currently and its rather inofficial but it is possible to enjoy already parts of the free to play content. here is the link i got for the info about the free to play content: link

Alright, steps how you can play this game for free:

* Register for a free trial (no credit card needed) click here

* with the trial you have full access to everything for two weeks

* after the trial runs out the free content starts as long you wish to play. You get a survey per mail about the game and after you did fill it out f2p starts.

What this game is about - First Person MMO with combined arms - Air/Land/Sea:

There are two main factions (Axis power & Allieds - brits n french) which fight each other.

You can can capture bunkers to conquer whole cities, airports, docks and so on. The game world is huge, so a lot of towns or area to capture until one side wins the battle.

There are also many things which you can use, different infantry weapons, anti tank guns, different type of planes and tanks, anti air weapons.....

The game is also known in China, but I dont know the name for it.

Until now i was more a silent reader and have to say thx for the great forum here. I did find a lot of nice games with the help of this community. ;)

Anyway I did test it a bit and its quiete cool, especially since you can enjoy free to play content.

I did start playing some days ago, was always eager to play ww2 mods on arma servers but not really many people are online....

Maybe thats an option for some who like to play ww2 warfare with just more people...and well it offers free to play content, so I thought i cant do something wrong. Its a bit confusing, anyone did play this already ?

There are much worse f2p games around :D and honestly i didnt find any which offer huge scale warfare with ww2 gear. The point is arma has nice graphics but almost nobody plays ww2 mods and since there is free content i thought lets have a look. They have the speed tree engine, doesnt use arma the same trees and plants ?

Yes, I have for quite a few years on and off, even had a realism unit in it.

The world of WW2Online is massive, more like epic, theres only one place you will get a world like this.

The world you play in is half scale of western Europe, the game plays on one huge server with many real time battles happening at the same time.

Everything you have to do in this game is real time you have to travel to get there.

The makers are always working on this game, just last year they made it possible now where there is dynamic weather,

and ragdoll physics, and many more things, now this year they have new 3d models for most of the units.

But the capacity of simulation is simply amazing, for example driving a tank isn't just pushing the up arrow on your keyboard,

you have to start the engine, make sure its in neutral, use the clutch then shift it into 1st gear and work the gears up to

speed based on the terrain, break, and downshift ect,. like a real car, or vehicle.

I mean the cars, the tanks, the planes, ships, At guns, anti air guns, everything is simulated, everything is manual,

the game has a learning curve.

Game is basically a WW2 simulator on an epic scale.

Alot of people will say the graphics suck and yada, and I have asked well why do the graphics suck, try rendering

750,000 square miles and make it look good at the same time while trying to maintain a server with a few hundred players

all going about a war and then render explosions and such at the same time.

Anyways its a great game its no cod or Arma2 thats for dam sure, this is the type of game for those that have time on your hands,

believe me half hour of your time is not enough in the game, give yourself at least two hours to go anywhere and do anything.

Anyways for those that like the game I have a ton of refernce links and info for it from the last time I played.

I did play this years ago, was quite good. I think the scale of it really was the only factor why i played the game. Just the thought of contributing to a battle/war on that scale was cool. But after my trial ran out i stopped.

On principal i wont play a game i have to pay monthly fees for.

I used to play this game soley for the flying. I never won a single dogfight but damn it was fun to try.

I did however manage to kill lots of tanks, boats, infantry and anything else that couldnt fly after me.

I also loved just trying to not crash land when I was shot down, was very satisfying not dying on impact. Im definately going to give this another go. When I played it was back in the ofp days, slow pc, horrible internet didnt help but man I loved it.

The problems it had then were, extremely laggy load times when getting close to large citties with lots of things going on. The infantry aspect was really a let down, I remember how it felt still to this day, sorta like you were running around with a 2d character in 3d world. I never once killed anyone on the ground with a rifle.

Getting someone to tow you out to the field while using a big towed cannon was also great fun as long as you found a good busy road to watch over and a nice spot to hide. I would always setup right around a bend with bushes or trees covering my butt until it was too late for the other guys.

Im definately checking this one out again, i thought it had died away like so many other great before their time games.

Guy is in a 232, travels a bit then comes up to a massive valley overlooking a town where some of the allied are occupied.

Along side him to the west was a tank engaging as well.

Cool, likes like a pretty good war browser game to me. I heard that Battlefield is also going F2P Battlefield Play4Free? I think I'll hang out for that one :)

I've seen and read AARs over the past few months of some pretty intense battles where the population spikes pretty high.

AS to the historical accuracy, the team is pretty rabid about making sure that the correct equipment is available. We have to be careful to balance equipment lists so that one side doesn't have a ridiculous advantage (firepower-wise) over another at any given time during the progression of the campaign. We don't always pick the most popular weapons/vehicles that were available at the time, but we do make sure that we stick to the time-lines and vehicle data. But the goal of BE isn't to recreate the war, it's to give you some of the tools they had then and leave it up to you to try to win it. We'd love to add everything they had, but the list is overwhelming.

Organized people in OKW know where will be attack deployd and have maximumum chance to get tank. Yes, dweebs can waste 20 tanks and our minimal chance to get tank may be reduced to zero. (720 min supply with good factory production)
