Recommended Posts

Hi all

Liquid body Armour is now set to make an apearance on the battlefield.

In the tests 10 layers of Kevlar treated with the liquid are better than 32 untreated layers of kevlar.

Liquid body Armour is nothing new.

Some media "experts" said back in 2004 and later 2006 that this liquid body armour will make an appearance or "will be soon in use". ;)

Non-Newtonian fluid, nothing new. They are even referring to it in the main article as "bullet-proof custard". Something you find in a toybox isn't cutting edge and life saving as the article makes out and it won't be stopping anything bigger than 9mm I shouldn't think. More likely it will ease kit burdens, if it is even used, and be an extra tool in the draw for body armour designers.

Hmm. This must be the non-Newtonian fluid armor (nano particles even) I read about a year or so ago. Great promise for vehicles and stationary stuff, if they can get the inherent issue of weight worked around, it would be good for troops too. Thanks for the heads up Walker, I'll dig into this a bit.

Yes the weight...... it might only work for some sort soft skinned vehicle armour or bullet proof shields?

Video looks like a slomo of someone shooting a really fat person?

Maybe you could put that stuff in body implants? Have some liposuction and get it replaced with anti-ballistic custard?
