walker 0 Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) Hi all Liquid body Armour is now set to make an apearance on the battlefield. BEqtEaZiQkE In the tests 10 layers of Kevlar treated with the liquid are better than 32 untreated layers of kevlar. It was also featured in this BBC Newsbeat (Kids news program) article http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/12184966 Kind Regards walker Edited January 19, 2011 by walker

NoRailgunner 0 Posted January 19, 2011 Liquid body Armour is nothing new. Some media "experts" said back in 2004 and later 2006 that this liquid body armour will make an appearance or "will be soon in use". ;)
jeza 5417 Posted January 19, 2011 Heard in terms or armour well body armour Def-contractors are working with nano technology, verry strong verry durable.
Prydain 1 Posted January 20, 2011 Non-Newtonian fluid, nothing new. They are even referring to it in the main article as "bullet-proof custard". Something you find in a toybox isn't cutting edge and life saving as the article makes out and it won't be stopping anything bigger than 9mm I shouldn't think. More likely it will ease kit burdens, if it is even used, and be an extra tool in the draw for body armour designers.
TechnoTerrorist303 10 Posted January 20, 2011 It was also featured in this BBC Newsbeat (Kids news program) article... Newsbeat isn't necessarily for kids, it's the Radio 1 news... NewsROUND is for kids :)

Scrub 0 Posted January 28, 2011 Hmm. This must be the non-Newtonian fluid armor (nano particles even) I read about a year or so ago. Great promise for vehicles and stationary stuff, if they can get the inherent issue of weight worked around, it would be good for troops too. Thanks for the heads up Walker, I'll dig into this a bit. PELHAM 10 Posted February 2, 2011 Yes the weight...... it might only work for some sort soft skinned vehicle armour or bullet proof shields? Video looks like a slomo of someone shooting a really fat person? Maybe you could put that stuff in body implants? Have some liposuction and get it replaced with anti-ballistic custard?
