FOB Blaník & Prostějov signs?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone noticed these signs in the editor before? I don't remember ever really seeing them since before I updated to 1.57 but it's likely that they might have been there and I just overlooked them. The fact that Czech forces aren't present in any of the campaigns made me wonder why there would be FOB signs. To check, I searched the names of both FOB's on the forums and found nothing, then I looked them up on the internet and I didn't really find anything relevant to A2 other then the fact that they were places in CZ, one was a town and the other a mountain. Only reason I was curious and looked a little more into it is because it brought me back to this picture http://www.aan-online.com/images/stories/news/jac_img17.jpg of what looks like the entrance to a Czech base. On one of the signs (the one for Blanik) it had "Dum Spiro Spero" which happened to be the 601st Czech SF motto. I thought it could either have something to do with the 601st helping in capture the Radayev guy in South Zagoria (http://www.aan-online.com/en/europe/28-radayev-extradition-approved.html) or it was just there since the 601st had already been modeled in game.

Edit: What gave me the idea was how in BAF we got those two PMC contractors, it was kind of like a not-so-obvious reference to the future release of PMC and I thought maybe they'd done something like it again.

Anyways enough with the probably pointless speculation, has anyone else ever noticed these before?

Interesting. Also I remember unPBOing the OA missions and finding a Dum Spiro Spero mission where you played as Czech SF but I don't recall seeing it in the scenario list. Hope we find out more soon.

btw this

Czech Presence in Chernarus

Czech forces have recently played an important role following the deployment of a U.S. Marine Expeditionary Force in 2009.

The largest part of the NATO contingent present in Chernarus on Peacekeeping Operations, Czech forces have assisted in the supervision of reconstruction programmes in South Zagoria.

Czech forces are scheduled to remain in Chernarus until 2012, who alongside the British Armed Forces, will assist in training exercises and regional development programmes.

BIS give us that DLC now! :D

They were there before patch 1.57. I used the sign(s) way before patch 1.57, even before 1.55.

I can confirm this as well.

Nice, a Chech map for DLC :)

I'm fairly sure those pictures are on a modified version of Chernarus or something.

Picture 1. That is on Chernarus somewhere.

Picture 2. I think the town in the background of this one is Mogilevka with the Castle Zub in the background as well. It looks like its taken from the South-East of Mogilevka and North-West of Pusta.

Agreed. I dunno though, it might really kill FPS with open furnished buildings and all the trees. In Takistan we didn't have it anywhere near as bad because of how open and mostly treeless it is there in a lot of parts.

I seriously looked for that forever, couldn't find out what it represented. Nice find!

Edit: It appears the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade is made up of two mechanized infantry battalions and one airborne battalion.

Seems they have more of the MICH (I think?) styled helmet that the Delta Force SF have in OA. We already have a Czech Mi-8 but that other helicopter that sort of resembles a Puma would be a nice addition.

TBH, if everything here was included: http://www.army.cz/images/id_9001_10000/9982/05.jpg, along with http://www.army.cz/images/id_10001_11000/10133/01.jpg it would make an awesome addition to the game. A few retextures and the introduction of a few new models could create something close to an ArmA version of full deployment. T-72's, BMP-2's, Land Rovers (both armed and transport versions), M-17's, Mi-24's area all already in game..all that needs to be done is a reskin of each (with the exception of the armed Land Rover and M-17 since they are already found in the ACR aresenal). Add in the Pandur APC (second picture), the Iveco LMV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iveco_LMV) and a PZL W-3 Sokol (with two variants...W-3T for transport and W-3R as a support like the UH-60 MEDEVAC) to complete it and you'd have yourself a nice little slice of the Czech Armed Forces. One of the screen shots they released resembles a Tatra, it could be tweaked to be turned into an AA version as well as a troop transport. Digging through a little bit of info on fixed wing aircraft and I found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_L-159_Alca ...looks a lot like the Takistani air force jet? I heard they use MiG's as well, which are present in A2. Both would again be reskins and would add fixed wing air support to their side. Add a few infantry units in and you're set. Would make for an awesome DLC, not a lot of new units would have to be created as most are already in game.

Thats my 2 cents worth.

I can tell you like this - is there a lake/river in Chernarus? ;)

I thought it was decided that was the southern coast of Chernarus with that one island not too far off the coast?

Well unless the water levels receded significantly and a small volcanic eruption occurred I'd say not.:)
